[SPEC] Leave the door open
Why is this necessary?

In the newest entry, right before Jessica and J part he tells her to leave the door open. I thought it was because he didn't want a separation between then. Then I thought a little more into it and I remembered Entry 14.

In Entry 14, you see Slenderman enter the room through the small crack in the door, and when Alex turns on the light and goes to close the door, he doesn't close it all the way.

Maybe it's just me, but J obviously knows a few things about Slendy too, and maybe leaving the door open was part of the way to stop Slendy somehow, not just for the sense of security between Jessica and himself.

Entry 32

Entry 14

It's hard to think of a good reason why this would help though. If someone was after you, you'd want to close the door and lock it, not leave it open. I wanna hear some theories, mine is in the spoiler tag below.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I remember reading somewhere that Slenderman might be akin to a creature that exists in quantum space, and therefore is brought into the third dimension by a second or third party observing him. With the door left open, he can't merely superposition his way into the room, he must go through the door, but if he can manipulate time-space, this is easily countered.

Also sorry if this was brought up already. I did a quick forum search but couldn't find any topics on it

thought about that door- are they adjoining or something?

apparently she came to his door, but her room is on the other side of it Confused

looks like they are- at 2:25 ye can see two doorways next to each other

as for not closing the door- no idea
i'd say it was just J's paranoia mixed with a bit of genre-savviness

I think SlenderMan can enter the world through any closed door or forest.

Bleh. That's all I can think of :/

They're in adjoined hotel rooms, the door(s) they left open are the door(s) connecting their rooms.

I think he just wanted her to leave it open so he could hear/see if something happened and respond without a locked door.

My thoughts exactly.
J has no idea what happened to Brian, Seth etc so he wanted to make sure he can get to Jessica quickly in case anything happens.
Or maybe, as some people said, he wanted to see what she was supposedly looking at.

Remember entry 24? Sometimes a closed door doesn't lead to the same place when you open it again.

This, Entry #23 and the fact that they shouldn´t take their eyes off each other.

Very yes. Remember all of the times this kind of stuff has gone down. More importantly than the quantum theory, or any thing that might be true of Jess, SPACE doesn't act right around Operator-related situations, and that's something we have evidence of.

I think this is being over-analysed a bit. If I were in Jay's position, I'd have told her to leave the door open too. Not for any esoteric reasons but simply so that we can hear each other and can get to each other quickly if anything should happen.

I once dated a girl who was part of a little "ghost-hunting" team. We went to an old theatre and filmed and recorded and stuff all night.
Every time an EMF meter beeped, they got all excited and announced a ghost was present (even ignoring me at one point when I pointed out that they were pointing the EMF meter at a working fridge in the bar).
When playing back the footage, mysterious coughs and bumps confirmed their suspicions that we weren't alone, even though the coughs were blatantly made by the people there. It was a farce.

It's the same thing here. Some of those noises could have been ghosts, but it's far more likely it was just us ourselves.
Jay could have said "leave the door open as a defence against the Operator or to prevent weird space/time warps, but it's far more likely that it was just for their mutual ease of access and security. Why jump for the most far-fetched conclusion?

EDIT: Sorry, just realised this may have looked a bit bitchy! not trying to be a dick, just think maybe people can't see the wood for the trees.

I'm with two2teps on this one. Her door locks from her room, so there's no quick access. If she closed the door, I'd just take off. No sense knocking and risking getting attacked or whatever.

In 24 J notices doors don't always lead to the same places. I'm sure it's also quick access in case something were to go down, but it seemed more serious than a, "I'll brb so keep the door open!"

uhm.....I'm pretty sure the fact that whenever someone with slendy sickness/ masky syndrome. a door is no longer a door when it is instead a jar. Doors don't go where they're supposed to when Slenderman is near and it seems that SM is pretty damn close due to all the distortion, either that or she is about to go all masky on his ass. I don't remember which entry but one of them had Jay opening a door on one side, and on the other it not being open hinting at an alternate dimension. keeping the door opened makes sure that he doesn't open it and find a different room, the same reason that, although it would have allowed him to lock himself up nice and tight, Alex kept his door open when followed by The Operator.
