Cathy, that's been noticed and it's not all that odd really. If the blog doesn't allow commenters/users to track activity in their local time zone, then you will see the "universal" time stamp on all posts/comments.

Presumably this reflects the time zone of the server hosting the blog as its 'local time' without adjusting it in display for global blog users — so you see everything stamped with time "there" instead of "here" as it were.

The big mystery is WTF happened with the blog in question and how it relates to the ARG, assuming it still does? With luck we'll know before SUPER 8 hits theaters this summer! Confused

Cathy, don't worry. If an In-Games site has a comment section or an email, use it. You MIGHT get information from the PM. If there is a CONFIRMED phone number go ahead and call it. If there are unconfirmed emails or phone numbers, I still recommend using them, but be polite because they may be OOG. Figuring out if these means of contact are IG or OOG is all part of the fun. This is your experience as much as it is a collective one, play it how you deem fit.
You can even send an email to Capt. "Coop" if you want, they sometimes respond.

Thanks to everybody for being so nice, and Black Cat, thanks for being so patient.

Is it possible that the script may have changed and that means that there's a major overhaul in the game, or has the movie been filmed in full already? Do ARGs ever stop and start over?

Args have there are lulls and breaks. The pace is diffrent in each game for many reasons. They dont really start over tho. From what I understand the film is not complete yet. This game is in the beginning stage and hasnt kicked in just yet.I do believe soon it will ramp up tho.

Edit-Some txt and words were screwed up so I fixed some errors

ARGs can start/stop independently of film production entirely, depending on the needs of either the film or the game.

While not a true ARG in depth, the clearest example of a huge and obvious change was Abrams' STAR TREK: its online campaign started for a holiday 2008 release, then the strike and other factors prompted Paramount to push back its release date to 2009. It stopped most of its online promotion dead in its tracks and no doubt threw out the old 'script' (in terms of date roll-outs) for a much expanded schedule.

Since we have no clue what the SUPER 8 ARG is supposed to be or how it's scheduled to run, we can't truly tell if this 'delay' is intentional or someone called an audible to change how it unfolds. The PMs also have some options to speed up/slow down a game based on how players are doing in it. Unless someone on the inside talks (later), likely we never will know the actual answers.

ARGs are one of the last remaining covert ops in entertainment since they're built to operate in total secret, which a feature film production can never do. Talk about a Mystery Box.

@Cathy Siena
Welcome to our circle Smile
You`ve found perhaps the perfect time, since there weren`t many updates last time, but we are awaiting for the real update (hopefully:) soon. The update will happen rather at rocketpoppeteers.com. Well, perhaps. But Anyway, cool you are joining us, since PMs of JJ Abrams are usually awesome.

Lets party! (our secret motto here at super8 board)

I will say this though, when Cloverfield started up, we had a user run around here and IMBd tossing info about the movie. One in particular that I remember is how the monster would scratch its back with a building and release small creatures onto the city. Everyone dismissed him, and the guy was banned from here.

If any of you have seen Cloverfield, remember that scene?

But I am pretty sure he is lying. That sounds like a crappy plot IMO.

I never saw "Cloverfield." Undersea monsters aren't my thing - I'm more into critters from other planets. Say "Area 51" and my eyes light up.

(Plus, I heard later on that the monster was supposed to be a baby looking for its mama, and I'm a sucker for baby animals - I wanted to cheer for the humans, so I didn't see it so I wouldn't go, "Aww, poor little monster," at the wrong times.)

Did that back-scratch thing really happen in the movie?

On topic again -

It's been a little less than a year since the ARG started. If the character of Josh's Dad is uncredited, according to IMDb (I'm going with the assumption that the black man in the photo is supposed to be Josh's dad), then perhaps the character we've been following, Josh Minker, is a minor character, or outside the entire movie. That being said, perhaps the ARG isn't directly related to the movie, not like how the characters from "Cloverfield" were all characters within the ARG with whom players could communicate.

This reminds me a little of the old "Search for the Treasure" games that you could play watching TV shows, reading books, or otherwise involving yourself in them. Very interesting.

(For those curious about what I'm talking about, here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treasure:_In_Search_of_the_Golden_Horse It's a really interesting read. I did this with my dad when I was a kid, although we never got anywhere. Maybe this was the original ARG!)

If anything Josh or his dad are likely to have the kind of inclusion in the movie that Jamie Lascano did in Cloverfield, a likely uncredited, non-speaking role snuck into a scene in the background or in passing.
(If you don't recall, Jamie was seen passed out on a couch at the party at the beginning of Cloverfield.)

You might rent it sometime if you like creature features. While Clover may come from the ocean, you never actually see this and its appearance hardly looks like a fish out of water.

Also, there's nothing cute about baby Clover either. I doubt you'd be feeling sorry for it.

I wouldn't say it was a true back-scratching per se, but that scene does occur... to deadly results.
