I think it's fine for anyone to have an opinion.

It just baffles me if you don't like EMH why you come here to complain about it. Just move on to something else that you enjoy more. I have tired a couple of different Slenderman blogs/stories that I found on here that I didn't think were good, so instead I just didn't return to those threads and moved on looking for things that interested me.

I mean if you have constructive criticism or ideas and want to send them on to the guys or post them here, I think that is great.

Just complaining about something you are getting for free that you know TONS of people here really enjoy is just asking to be called a troll.

No offense meant to anyone, it's just a simple fact.

I don't think anyone here doesn't like EMH, or at least most of the people complaining right now.

The problem is just that we are frustrated with how it has been going for the past two or three months. I wasn't chosen to be part of the trials, and I'm having a really hard time keeping up with it even with the wiki and the thread. And since the trials seem to be the focal point of the story it becomes frustrating because I feel like I'm being left behind.

The Trials are not the focal point of the story. The guys are not even in the Trials anymore. It's a sideshow at most. The only reason it seems like the Trials are a big deal is the amount of posting here dedicated to them.

The only reason that we voice our opinion like this is because we see that others find it amazing. We try to show our side, and you call us trollers and haters, thereby insulting us. I always used to say how some of these slenderman blogs/vlogs were bad or good, and everyone respected my opinion. You only get attacked or insulted for it when you go after a popular one. People are comparing it to MH, which I admit has fallen a little... more than a little actually, but it is still better. I just find that if I can voice my opinion about jonclubs, DarkHarvest, and AppleforOureye w/out ridicule, why can't I voice my opinion about EMH that way too?

Certainly you have every right to do so, just as I have every right to disagree with you. This is going on an entirely separate tangent, but I think I was equally as disappointed as you were in reading some of the replies to this thread. Here was an opportunity to really share opinions, criticisms, and thoughts on something outside of an in-game perspective, but this is the internet. Sad

There will never be a civil debate on the possibility that EMH is 'not all that' in this board. Fact is a decent chunk of the people here are diehard EMH fans. I bet half of them probably saw this thread, shoved their fingers in their ears and started screaming 'TROLLLZZZ!!111' to make it go away or something hilarious like that. lololol

To make this thread is to insult the Cult of EMH, and now their Witch Hunters will burn you in a giant Wicker Man made entirely of Vince's face fungus.

And as for what I think of EMH? They should kill off all the characters and just have Evan fighting off Slender Man and the Rake with his knife. And also they should somehow have all the 'rabbits' fighting each other Battle Royale style. The winner takes the Rake on in the final battle on the deck of the Black Pearl whilst Slendy defends his position as Captain of the Flying Dutchman from Evan's prying hands.

Did I mention that they would all have guns and rockets too? It would be totally awesome guyz.

1) I want to see our giant beardfungusman. It must be so weird.

2) I am totally up for that to happen in EMH. It would be awesome.

This is exactly how I feel as well. I actually got out of work a few hours early today and I spent the past 2 hours reading the Wiki, re-watching the videos, reading the forums here etc. All I can say is the following:
I still HAVE NO clue of most of whats going on.

Even after spending what my wife called "an enormous amount of nerd-time" there is far too much going on. I am a fan of EMH, but it's overwhelming to the point that I feel like it's a part time job. The story it started with was such a great idea but I feel it's been nearly destroyed by turning itself into a mess of storyline.

I've decided to follow EMH only on the videos on Youtube, and that's the end of my contribution to my thread here.

When nothing happens except the trials for over a month, it tends to have the appearance of becoming the focal point.

Alright, honestly? i know I haven't been here in some time, but here goes...

I don't like EMH. I never have, from the moment it started. When they were selling t-shirts I suspected something was up, something was wrong, and I was right. Their story is a convoluted and incomprehensible mess to any outsider. It is impossible to explain to someone not dedicating several full hours of each day to following it, and that is unacceptable.

It caters so specifically to internet nerds that it is ridiculous...I understand that it is based on an internet phenomenon, but so is Marble Hornets and that is doing a fantastic job with the source material and telling an engaging tale. EMH is not faring nearly as well. And no, having cheeky, witty characters does not make up for the fact that the story is garbage.

The amount of material EMH throws around on a weekly basis is fucking ridiculous. To follow their story, you have to be engaged in several Youtube pages, a couple of twitters, a blog or two, infrequent and sudden live shows, and to top it all off a fucking terribly confusing 'game' from HABIT.

And that's another thing that pisses me off. The Trials. Asking people to sever connections with close friends? Really?! That is fucking bullshit. When you tell a story, you have an obligation to add something to your audiences' life, especially when that story is formatted as an interactive 'game.' You do not abuse that interactive capacity to tear people's lives down in any way for your own amusement. As a writer myself, that not only makes me angry, that insults me.

Now, I know that a lot of other ARGs in the past have been deeply fan-based and complx. I followed the Cloverfireld viral marketing for eight months or so, I know. But here's the problem for EMH; with things like Cloverfield, there was an expected payoff. You knew that at the end of it all you were going to get a movie or a TV show or an end-product that summed it all up nicely.

In the case of Cloverfield, that didn't work out so well, but I digress. You don't have that with EMH. What you have is a bunch of confusing story threads loosely tied together by a series of shitty Youtube videos that is going to end with another vague Youtube video that answers nothing and gives no payoff. That is where EMH is headed, I guaruntee it.

You may say I am a troll and i know that the diehard fans will not feel any different for my having posted this. But it is something I have wanted to get out for a long while. I shall now return to my regularly scheduled lurking sessions, kthnxbai

Hitler. Hitler wouldn't have liked EMH.

The question is, are YOU Hitler?

In their defense, they never sold tshirts. Even if they did, that would have been a part of the "schtick" (i.e. a fitness group). Also, the character telling the players to "sever ties" is basically a "satan" in the universe. (I don't think they expect people to do this; it's fiction, and fictitious entries made the contest progress it seems.)

I'm not calling you a troll, we are all open to our own opinions. However, there were reasons for some of the "major complaints" you've shown.

Yeah I have no idea what's going on in the trials, but I'm fairly sure that you wouldn't have to sever ties with friends OOG, just seem to sever them IG. It's kind of an argument for keeping all your IG contact with characters restricted to certain IG portals (a seperate fb account to your OOG one, an ARG related email address etc).

I direct everyone's attention to my "ARG" comment from earlier.

Rule 1 to being a internet cult sensation, is never expect that people won't do crazy crap you tell them to do. Really... there are a few people out there, who will take these trials seriously and cause some harm to themselves or others....

As for the EMH show... I agree it is convoluted. Extremely convoluted, and while I like the EMH crew, and I find their stuff to be somewhat entertaining. As someone who just merely watches this stuff, it is near impossible to follow and very frustrating that there are no answers to any of the puzzles.

But as was pointed out this is suppose to be an ARG, so I guess you fans/players out there, need to get off your buts and figure something out so something happens.

P.S. I was very put off by the fact that Damsel was finally recruited and nothing really came of it right away...

I still lurk the forums from time to time, but EMH is indeed getting very taxing to follow up. It is an ARG after all, so I have to wait till someone figures something out before it continues... I don't have the time to actively contribute to it, like some.
