Perhaps something by Driveshaft or Geronimo Jackson.
Imho Geronimo Jackson would better fit into the 1970ies atmosphere.

Am going for a Daft Punk style from Tron Legacy with a dash of Hans Zimmer, either way the music to the film will suit the theme.

Yeah, Hans Zimmer were cool.
But I also think about collaboration of Spielberg and JJ Abrams - and as consequence the collabration between John Williams and Michael Giacchino

This is set in the late 70s, so we can't be all too modern. I've got something with at least a little retro pizazz.

And we've got to get some alien monster type action too.

John Williams and Michael Giacchino AND Driveshaft!!!!
NO HANS ZIMMER!! Hans Zimmer is great and creates wonderful scores for movies! BUT he freakin wrote the score for every single movie since 1985 (exaggeration ). There are plenty of creative music composer's/writer's/musician's out there! I'd like to see some new talent out there!

Beastie Boys would be great. We could at least use this as the ARG theme:

I would say Danny Elfman or Cristopher Young and some bands I would pick Cruxshadows,Icon of Coil, or Combichrist
