Hmm, when I don't specify a channel, then use the /join command, I seem to be able to get in. Anyone else whose having problems should try doing it that way and see if it works.

For qaqa: Demon's Souls and Vanquish.

The former's a "hardcore" dungeon crawler that has innovative art direction and atmosphere, and a heavy emphasis on risk v. reward/trial and error gameplay. Known for being very challenging.

The latter's a shooter by the guy behind Resident Evil 4, as well as (derp!) Goof Troop for the SNES. An over-the-shoulder TPS with a few twists: slow-mo activated either manually or when your energy/shields are down, superpowered melee attacks that run on the same energy/shield meter, and a boost that propels you at high speeds around battles. Also running on the same meter. Balance is key.

Yeah, I've heard about Demon's Souls and will pick it up eventually. My first priorities for PS3 are beginning to replenish my film collection for BluRay, and then picking up Heavy Rain and Metal Gear Solid 4. Still, I dunno when I'll get to any PS3 gaming just yet - I'm knee-deep in Persona 4, Red Dead Redemption for the 360, I'm still playing through my second Shepard on Mass Effect so I can get going on Mass Effect 2 for the 360, and I also have the GTA4 Liberty City Stories to do. And Assassin's Creed II is barely out of the tutorial. I don't want to stretch myself too thin on games that deserve their fair share of individual attention.

It...sounds like I game more than I do. I move very slow. I don't do any online gaming.

Okay, if you've heard about DS then I really want to emphasize Vanquish. It's not to TPSs what God Hand was to beat-'em-ups, but it sure comes close.

If that's not enough of an endorsement, I don't know what is. It's seriously really, really fun, and luckily doesn't take itself too seriously either. Also, there's a focus on high scores, with global leaderboards. And no multiplayer whatsoever, in order to create the best campaign possible.

boss: "so what is slendy's income?" me: "he'd get it from his victims, i guess. root through their pockets." "how would you declare that?" "...scavenging?" "it's a gift." "from folks who all feel sorry for the faceless gentleman down on his luck...nevermind they all died afterward." "or it could be inheritance, but then he'd have to say who it was from--wow. i just realized how weird this conversation is."

not emh-specific, i guess, but i figured you folks might find it amusing. this is the kind of shit i talk about at work.
