this is a real shame - but hopefully the PM will be able to relaunch in a little while.

lol ifso,
i think the PM is fairly new to all this and after a successful first with IWCB, seems to have been surprised by the slow start for IWCB2 - or as we should have been calling it all along apparently TDWC?
if everything is in place for that game then i'd hope they can just change a few dates and launch again soon. getting a lot of people on board from the start is always tricky and how many ARGs have we seen or played where the whole thing grinds to a halt? fair play to the PM for coming out early with a clear message rather than us investing time and effort for a few weeks and then spending another few weeks with no clues wondering what's going on.
as i am working on starting my own first game i have also been wondering about how to get people involved, what to do if the game stalls, and all the other things i guess most PMs go through. i can see how someone might feel disappointed that their months of work seems to be only catching the attention of a handful of people, but then maybe it is better to let something play out smoothly with just a few participants and build a rep for well run games? and there's always a chance that a game will snowball once others see it is likely to go the distance rather than fizzle out. lots for me to think about...hope the PM isn't too discouraged by this and is back up soon as i really enjoyed IWCB - a game that stood out from a lot of the creepypasta/slendy derivative stuff

oh what a shame!
it took me a little while to get into IWCB part 1, and i found i was struggling a bit to make progress with part 2 but thats all part of the fun
anyway, big thanks to the PM for their efforts so far and look forward to the next stage...

i have noticed though that while things might start slow on a game, ppl will start to join and /or lurk when they notice things are happening. oh well, hopefull the pm will start up the spin off soon. guess i better go find somewhere to lurk now.

IWCB PM
Guest
It's the IWCB PM here. I'm just responding briefly to the discussion, which I hope is not a violation of the TOS since the game is not currently in progress and I'm not contributing to the gameplay in any way.
I'm just making a quick comment before I disappear again.
I am both pleased and chagrined to see these comments. I honestly wasn't expecting much of a reaction to shutting the game down. After reflecting on this a bit, I realized that you all are right, and I apologize.
Let me put it this way, I'm happy for the game to go forward at whatever pace you like. I am really not over concerned with the number of players, and I think each of you make great points about how you approach the overall gameplay.
What I really wanted to do was more of a reboot. I was relying too heavily on a couple of plot points that I wanted to move to very quickly, in order to feel real. They had to unravel over a period of hours and days and it was taking weeks.
However, these plot points are not essential to the story or the game. In a sense, I simply redesigned the entryway without tearing down the whole house.
I've now structured the delivery of the story and the content in such a way that only does it not rely on pace, but it also allows players to participate at different levels, even if they are not keeping up with the larger game.
I also realize now that it's not really necessary to start a new thread. I'm trying an interesting experiment in which I will be presenting another trailhead into this game that will allow players to interact with a different set of characters and a different component of the game simultaneously with this game.
Don't worry about looking for the new trailhead. First of all, it won't appear right away, and secondly, it will not be necessary to participate in both games. Nor will it be necessary to have knowledge of one game in order to play the other.
Thank you to a wonderful group of players! I hope you enjoy IWCB 2.5 (lol). Once again, I apologize for the disruption and any confusion it may cause.
Commence!

Aw, that's lovely Mycroft. Am glad to add that the bolded letters on the "light" page spell: find her soon
New puzzle (5 letters) on the Her Page And, yup, I have a guess but it's just a lil guess.
**crossing fingers you have no posting kinks for this next de-light-ful round, Mycroft**

Yes, it is! But maintaining my rep as being dufos in that area was thinking it was H.P. related til the kloo fell hard on my head.

i thought the first word might be 'suits' as those are the tarot suits. suits by ------SPLAT ----.com sounds like a tailors website..?
or tarot by -------SPLAT ----.com giving us the email address of the fortune telling lady that can steer us towards finding our man?
will await clue 2

Very glad this is up again...

of course, this could just be down to the goddess of coinkydink, but noticed a new trail thread posting here today which relates to an email from:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
tarotbysarannaSPLAT blogspot.com
seems a few unforum and ARG old hands have received an email from this person, relating to what looks like a new game. i can't check my email account at work to see if it has gone out to IWCB followers as well, so will have to wait until i get home tonight.
the email certainly seems game-y, and there's a theme of missing people as well as our own bronte-phile telling us that we have to find the lady to help us find the man...no conclusion yet but i suspect this is the connected but separate trailhead suggested by our PM on 4/2. i'll be keeping an eye on it anyway but don't intend to pollute the new thread with talk of IWCB, especially at the early stage of what is likely a new game. i may well play along though, as i like the way IWCB has been done and expect some similarly interesting plots.
