The only thing I can come up with is that vita in latin means life or way of life.

People, even if it sounds a little bit weird, I'd almost see, this is "vitas relic". I mean, I have no clue, why it's combination of Latin and English, but it would very good fit to the Coelacanth and Troglodites and another stuff. Like: vestiges of life?

Ah, I recall time I translated Kishin. They also had "vistiges" in context.
