It's the bicycles, that brief clip of the kids on their bikes solidly implanted E.T. on anyone who didn't get it when they saw little kids and Spielberg's name. I want to say it's intentional, that he put it there specifically to make us think about E.T.

Hmmm, ok. But I was thinking more about the scene when the kid and his two friends are running down a street, hurdling fences. Made me think of E.T. for some reason.

Incidentally, has anyone speeded up the score to the trailer? Sounds freaky when playing it at x5 or x10 in SMplayer!

I agree, its later than 68. What was the consensus before, 1978/9? That would fit with the 10+ year old cars on the small used sales lot.

I was re-watching the first trailer to see if anything made more sense. Firstly, the trailer says that in 1979 a section of Area 51 was closed down and the government moved all materials to a secured facility in Ohio. So it all must take place in 1979.

Then I noticed that the truck that collides with the train doesn't just cross the tracks, it turns around quite rapidly and accelerates down the tracks towards the train. I think that whatever is being transported took control of the truck as it crossed the tracks and drove it into the train so that it could escape, which further suggests that whatever it is has some sort of telekinetic ability.

This has been brought up months ago, and while anything is possible, if the being had that kind of power, why didnt he us it to simply make the engineer hit the brakes, then open the door and jump out? Alot safer..

You know how animals have peta? Well what if whoever [implying it was an experiment gone wrong] wanted to free it. Because they believed having it help captive and stuff was wrong.

You could play this game forever, though. Maybe there was no actual engineer, and the train was being remote controlled. Maybe any humans on the train are wearing tinfoil hats.

It's just too damn early to have any idea, haha.

Maybe the creature has a flair for the convoluted and dramatic, opting for the solution that raises the most questions rather than a more obvious, straight forward approach. Maybe the creature is JJ Abrams!?!

I am wondering what the thinking is behind having three different trailer tags to sort thru?

1. The Super Bown Trailer has different pics in the cracked lens at the end than ..
2. The Trailer on the main file website as well as on Apple..
3. The little flash ad that seems to have VITASRELIC printed ala scariesthingIeversaw..

Have no idea what it all; is meant to mean, but they did this for some reason knowing the only way to see these differences is to take it apart frame by frame which is something most viewers dont even think of.. just ARGonauts..

the search continues

Exactly. I feel communication with us. They give us hints, and perhaps at this very moment they are reading us and say: "why, just why they don't get our message?" Smile

Car #
Prices

There is only one scene that stands up to me and thats the one with the cars. Could the flashes be morse code or the numbers be a lock combo?

17 Numbers or 7 numbers as a whole.

95 67 219 65 95 68 3299

None of the numbers except for the dates are consistent

Is it common for ARG clues to be tied into scenes from the movie itself, or just the trailers and associated websites? I would think that timing headlights or even arranging numbers on a bunch of cars would be far too difficult for filmmakers to bother with just for the select few participating in the ARG. It takes a lot of people, and a lot effort to film a scene for a small scale production, let alone a big-budget Hollywood film like this. And when you're talking Hollywood, a lot of people equals a lot of money.

Tacking something on the end of a trailer is much easier and can be done by a couple of people at a computer. I personally don't think there's any point looking for clues in any of the actual film footage. Unless I'm completely wrong and that was done for Cloverfield or other ARGs. This is my first, so I'm not sure how in depth they can get.
