I am having trouble finding the afore mentioned subject 5 transcript, it seems that it may yet to be reveled. Possibly part of the new puzzels?

It's alright to treat with the enemy when his interests coincide with ours. We just have to be careful that they actually DO coincide, and that there aren't any foreseeable repercussions that we don't like.

I'd say go ahead and send them to the Flea. They've already been !revealed (Flea code is addictive, isn't it?) and I'm going to trust that Durga can handle any infectious bits better than poor, injured Melissa could.

Yeah, there's still a nagging feeling in my mind that says that if the PF does send those files to Durga, she in turn might somehow send that information to Someone Else whose name starts with a "C" and ends with an "ovenant"...although since she seems to be more or less uninfected, maybe not...

I think more likely @ this point is someone IN those files is working for the covenant (or atleast against Earth's best wishes) and that Durga finding this out would lead to them finding out, or being found out....

The main problem I see here:

Bad:
The Covenant seem to have an innate ability to somehow track down Forerunner artifacts across the galaxy. Having one of them on earth might be just exactly what leads them here.

Good:
The Covenant will NOT completely glass any planet that has Forerunner ANYTHING on it. Sigma Octanus IV wasn't glassed because the Covenenat needed to get the rock thingie that was there, Reach was not completely glassed due to the Forerunner crystal that was buried in the planet. So, as long as this Forerunner artifact stays on Earth, Earth is safe from being glassed. Hmm, I always wondered why Halo2 would actually take place ON Earth instead of just having the Covenant glass it and be rid of us quickly.

So if Durga found out about the artifact and had it removed from earth (contrary to what Standish seems to want to have happen) would that be good or bad?

Either way, I still stand against the PF.

Bad.

We know that by this time the Covenant already know the location of Earth. They had been gathering at the Unyeilding Heirophant already soon after Reach was glassed. So, if Durga somehow manages to get the artifact removed from Earth, there is nothing to stop the Covenant from just glassing it. And the UNSC has NEVER won a battle where the Covenant's purpose was solely to glass a planet and thereby remove the human "filth" contained thereon.
