Another line of thought for decoding

I thought about stenography, the kind used by secretaries as speed writing. They use thin and thick lines for word definition and dots and dashes as vowels. Here are some samples of Gregg and Pitman.

My wife was a legal secretary for many years, and she knows stenography. I showed her the manuscript page, and asked if any of the symbols were stenagraphic in nature. She said no, they were all too complex to be steno symbols, which were designed to be written with a single stroke of the pen.

BTW, she only knows Gregg, so there's a off-chance they might be Pitman.
