Oh yes there are indie ARGs. Best ones if you ask me as well. Never be afraid of low budget - the best ARGs I've played had a very tight budget.

I didn't mean low-budget as an insult to anybody. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. I was just expressing some concern about sending e-mails and not being sure who was receiving them. As you can tell, I'm still new at this, and I'll eventually get over it.

Just heard back from her. I didn't ask much of a question, exactly, but the reply was still horribly fascinating and I am officially amused.

Which, got this:

Aces Delta,

The reason you're torn between The Moon and The Wheel of Fortune is that you think what you are seeking lies around the next corner, that it is something "out there" waiting to be discovered. Seekers are always obsessed with The Wheel, because they think that each time they spin it, they will come upon the true meaning of life.

However, The Moon draws you in because what you are really seeking is hidden. It may be that it's buried in your subconscious mind, or that you are being deceived. Usually, this is self-deception, a case in which we cannot see our true selves. The easiest way to "find" yourself is to strip away the layers of fear. It's not easy to see ourselves in the light of day, which is why The Moon card is so appealing. However, those who can look at themselves with all of the veneer stripped away are the most power beings in the universe. So you can continue waffling between The Moon and The Wheel, or you can step into the light of The Sun.

Sincerely,
Saranna

Okay got a similar reply back, so I've decided to turn it on its head and asked her the followiing:

Quote:
Pretty much what I've come to expect from Tarot, Astrology and this sort of thing.

Nothing really definite, just general observations based upon a card and a question.

Let me you ask you a question what card would you pick and what would your question be?

So I picked the Lover's card and asked a really dumb question...
Quote:
"I feel as if the world wants my throat, suck the life out if it. What can I do to put them all away?"

To which she replys,

Quote:
You see the world as a circle and you see yourself as standing outside of that circle. But there are really two circles, your world and the world that surrounds you. The idea that these circles are either separate or entwined is an illusion. The two circles are like The Lovers, separate but also one.

Not sure what I'd do next... hmm.

Here was my question:
Quote:
Saranna,

Will I change the world?

The magician

Chris

I was trying to pick something generic and not too personal.

This was her reply:
Quote:
Chris,

Only a magician would ask if he will change the world. You are one of the few who has chosen a card so clearly befitting your true self. The Magician card brings you this message: You have all the tools you need, both physical and intellectual, to impact the world in a significant and lasting way. The problem with human beings is not that they have no abilities or power, it's that they choose not to use their power to the best of their abilities. You will change the world, but only if you choose to. It's not an easy path; it is one that most of us shy away from.

Sincerely,
Saranna

Does that mean I win? Wink

BTW, there is a new blog post if you missed it.

Moontje,

The querent (seeker) can only ever ask the Tarot reader about herself. I cannot know anything about the person who does not ask me directly. What I can tell you is that your choice of The Moon card is an interesting one. The Moon card is showing me that everything in your life is not what it seems. This could be for one of two reasons. Either it's because you haven't asked the real question, or it's because your hopes are not what you think they should be. What I can tell you about your situation is that there is a lot to be gained from watching, waiting, and listening.

Sincerely,
Saranna

The Heirophant is an interesting choice for you, Thunderwolf, you who think you are seeking excitement. I think what you're really looking for is tradition and deeper meaning. While the Heirophant suggests conformity and institutions, I see you seeking something that will give your life a sense of purpose.

She must know about my application to teacher training Wink

I'm going to email her back with "who is watching?" encoded with her vigenere.

She told me:

Quote:
The Fool is an interesting card for someone like you. I can see very clearly a decision point for you in the near future. Seemingly out of the blue, your situation is going to require that you either move forward without hesitation or stay in the position you're in now. The Fool is a childlike card but also a card signifying journey or adventure. Regardless of your interpretation, it has nothing to do with love. My guess is that your mind is not on love right now. Once you have chosen your direction you will have time to think about such things.

This is getting more and more interesting.

ETA: New post and new code on the blog. Note that I tried decoding it with the old Vigenere key and it didn't work. I'll keep trying other options.

Was thinking maybe Solitaire cipher since there is a deck of cards involved although there nothing to indicate an order that I can see.

ETA: Okay the 'Wheel of Fortune' appears on the site which may give us a starting point for the order..

Okay beginning to look like substitution instead, got so far:

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

Y I E A TOR W NBH

TenbE WITH BY NOT tbu ReYWcE gOb A BoYOtY Rguuco iOI bw AuBEow Ec THEIR

I'm not too good at using the CrypTool Wink

Then again I could be completely wrong.

Got a reply to my msg:

Quote:
I think your expectations are based on common misconceptions about Tarot. A reading of the cards is intended to provide guidance, not to accurately predict the future. The future cannot accurately predicted because it's always changing. The only thing the cards can do is give you insight into your deepest motivations, hopes, and fears as a way to allow you to make decisions and walk the path more clearly.

As to your question about which card I would pick, I never talk about myself. All I can say is that the cards speak to me in different ways at different times.

I chose the sun card and asked "when will I die?"

Lighter,

The Sun is a card that is so far away from death it's hard to see providing you with that kind of answer. The Sun shows me someone walking down the street, in full possession of their powers, and everything seemingly makes way. The crowds dissipate, the lights turn green, the cars yield. There is no darkness on the horizon. However, we will all die, you just won't anytime soon.

Sincerely,
Saranna

my reply

This was my reply to

Will my dreams stop actually happening?

the Hermit

Quote:

Dreams are an inner reflection of a desire to manifest a reality that does not yet exist. The problem with the card you've chosen is that The Hermit is not only wise, reflective, and withdrawn from the world, he is also content. That is not your current state of mind. I'm curious, then, about your choice of card. It's difficult to say whether or not you choose it because you wish to withdraw and be content, or because you are attempting to run away from the power you possess. It's not a power to be taken lightly or ignored. You can only stop your dreams from taking over reality by making your reality over in the image of your dreams.

Sincerely,
Saranna

I replied with how she was so helpful with her reading and expressed my interest in returning the favor, if she had anything she might need help with.

I chose the "Wheel of Fortune" and asked a very very generic question: What does my future hold? The way she bracketed the word "future" made me wonder if this was a key for the newer coded text posted today. This did not work.

The Wheel of Fortune card is the perfect card to place in the "future" position. It always denotes a new cycle, a new beginning. One of the biggest ways in which we shortchange ourselves is that we imagine that new cycles and new beginnings can only commence with official traditions, such as graduation or the new year. However, renewal can always come from within. It requires a leap of faith the spin the wheel and face the outcome of wherever our leap takes us. Sometimes we land safely and sometimes we fall. I see your wheel coming around again and again, which means you are someone who craves new beginnings. Don't forget that no matter how many times we spin the wheel and seek a fresh start, we always come back to ourselves.

I was expecting her new post, "The Daily Draw", to happen by now but nothing yet. It is possible that this will have a better key, if it is indeed a Vignere.

First Daily Draw is up. It's the Eight of Pentacles. Also the text:

Quote:
The key to the Minor Arcana is that it it's made up of four suits: cups, coins or pentacles, wands, and swords. Each suit represents one of four elements, earth, air, fire, and water. These are broken down as follows:

Earth = Coins or pentacles
Air = Swords
Fire = Wands
Water = Cups
