His Message
Tell me your thoughts on His message.

What are your thoughts about Slender Man's origins and his motives? What is the message behind his murders? What is he trying to tell humanity? Does he desire our fear, or worship? Tell me what you think.

Doesn't this basically undermine the entire concept of what Slender Man is?

Not exactly. Every myth has to have a point, or else it is pointless. Just wondering what the point of Slender Man is, if he has one. Is he just a spook that decides he wants to kill you or drive you insane, and is that just what he does?

The mythos is an evolving construct used to scare people at their core. It doesn't need more reason than that.

I'm pretty sure that everyone who posts here enjoys the controlled fear and that is reason enough for people to make things about him.

So what do you think would happen if that fear became uncontrolled?

I meant controlled as in "We choose to watch the videos and read the blogs" but since there is fear in my heart that I can't control I can only point at the source:

Entry 14 and Entry 19.

I do not much sleep anymore. Doors and windows locked.

He doesn't want anything. We CAN'T understand him

The point of a cosmic horror is that his motives are unknowable.

Then please do tell what the Tooth Faery's motivation is? The Boogeyman's? Santa Claus? The Easter Bunny? Father Time? The Groundhog (Of Groundhog's Day)? Baby New Year? Chuck Norris?

Myths don't have to have a POINT. They just have to have an ACTION. Slenderman's action is to scare the living daylights out of us.

Slenderman's point depends on who's writing him. The grand meta-point is to be scary, but beyond that is just various interpretations of him. Sometimes he's an alien vivisecting and researching humans, sometimes he's an evil forest spirit kidnapping children, and sometimes he's just Nyarlathotep. Asking what the point of Slenderman is shows a lack of understanding of the concept, since he's not one figure, he's multiple characters of similar type and identical name spread across numerous irreconcilable continuities. The point of Just Another Fool's Slenderman is to kill everyone who learns of him, the point of TribeTwelve's Slenderman is to punish naughty children, the point of EverymanHYBRID's Slenderman is to ???, etc.

Tooth Fairy is greedy, uses the teeth to create weapons for undead zombies. Gosh. Boogeyman eats children cause he is hungry, and parents are too chewy. Santa Claus likes giving children toys, and spending time with them on his lap. He is a creeper. The Easter Bunny can't lay eggs so he hands out fake ones with poisoned chocolate inside, Father Time is an excuse to avoid the Mother-In-Law Of Time, Groundhog is lazy and never comes out of his hole, but when he does his shadow magically wreaks havoc on our weather system, Baby New Year is the horrid offspring of Father And Mother Time (Its a sitcom, duh) and Chuck Norris is the second son of God. Done.
