Nice one Amandel !

Picture titles for the five cards are 22, moon, abstain, holy, and chariot. The 22 led me to wonder if maybe it was important because it didn't match the others; I looked to see if the full moon ('fool', 'moon') was on Feb 22nd, but it seems to be on the 18th in the UK, so I am probably just blowing smoke.

Really should get to work...

Ok - development. About an hour ago I got the following email from Saranna:

Quote:
Will,

I may need your help. I spoke with David in London yesterday and he was staying at the apartment of a friend, waiting for information from a private investigator, who along with myself, has been trying to help David find Norah. David, the PI, and me all believe that Norah is in London, all based on separate but converging information. However, as I'm sure you know, London is no small town, so actually tracking her down may be difficult.

David left me the keys to his apartment with specific instructions not to go there unless I received what he referred to as a "distress call." I asked him what it was, and he said I'd know it when I saw it.

Well, this morning I received the following text: "I just got ganked by the Horde."

Of course, I don't really get this message but I assume it is some sort of reference to gaming. I know this was the distress call that David was referring to, because now when I call his phone it's turned off, and we agreed that he would never turn off his phone.

So I went to his apartment and saw that he left his laptop there, sitting on top of his desk amid many books, papers, and coffee cups. I turned it on, but the computer now requires a user name and password to get in. David left me no such information, so I started digging around among the papers on and near his desk.

The only thing I found that looked like it might be relevant was a list of the following names:

Darnassus
Exodar
Ironforge
Stormwind

Do these names mean anything to you? I tried them all as user names and passwords, to no avail.

I am still poking around and will contact you soon with more information.

Sincerely,

Saranna

I replied saying that I believe that he's referring to World of Warcraft (the PM has been reading my blog) unfortunately, WoW is not my game and I'm no too up with the lingo so I'm wikiing it as I type this. So - puzzle away!

Looks like we have a username and PW to look for. Each of the above named WoW-words is a capitol city of a different race in the game. I suppose the password is probably another capitol city? So, having WoWwiki'ed it up, the possible places are:
    Thunder Bluff
    Undercity
    Silvermoon City
    Ogrimmar

Now, my knowledge of WoW is limited, but I am led to understand that the Horde has an opposing faction, the Alliance? So I guess its more likely to be an Alliance city...

New Daily Draw post, I believe this would lead us to "heart", if amandel hadn't been so clever!

OK the cities listed are all Alliance capitals - Darnassus is Night Elves, Exodar is Drenai, Ironforge is Dwarves, Stormwind is Humans. All of them are in the Eastern Kingdoms.

I'm not sure if the alliance have a generic battlecry, the Horde's was always "FOR THE HORDE!"

I'm guessing the username will be something simple like "David". the password could be something along the lines of "Alliance4Eva" or something equally daft, I dunno.

they are all alliance capital cities, but they aren't all found in the eastern kingdoms. Darnassus is found on the other main continent called Kalimdor, and exodar is actually an island of its own above Kalimdor. I can't figure out the relevance of these capital cities, except for the fact that they are all from the Alliance faction. They are posted in Alphabetical order, which may have some meaning, because if you list them in order from highest on the map to lowest, Exodar would be at the top, followed by Darnassus, then Ironforge and Stormwind. The fact that he mentioned he was "ganked by Horde" alludes that he may be on what is called a PVP server. The only "Alliance" city that could be left off this list would be Gilneas, which is the home city of a new race added to the alliance called the worgen, which are basically wolf men. That city was destroyed in a war, and the worgen have relocated to darnassus mostly. I'm not sure where she is going with the references to World of warcraft here though, maybe the order in which she placed them has some significance.

Alright, well I'm going to reply to Saranna with some of the stuff we've found. Meta wise:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I don't think the PM can expect us to get the password/username exactly right without having access to the system ourselves to try some ideas out - so I reckon if we let her know that we are in the right area, she will "discover" the password herself

Good idea Distilled. Noticed that alot of the "Alliance4Eva" (ahaha) guilds begin with DEIS, the letters on David's list. Dunno

I'm starting to believe that the pattern will be a cipher followed by clues to the key in the next post.

"DEIS" is also the name of my Dark Angels 3rd Company Dreadnought, but I doubt that has relevance, unless the PM really IS psychic. (In which case he or she will be hunted down by the imperial inquisition)

OK, I'm a bit baffled. I've been having a bit of back and forth with Saranna, playing a wannabe psychic who hopes to learn some tricks of the trade from her. Not sure if her comment at the end means anything; is it just a joke that I wasn't psychic enough to guess what she wanted? Or am I missing something?

New to this, but interested in learning more. How can I get a reading? I'm particularly interested in learning to channel my own powers, such as they are. As I said in the comment, from reading your blog I get a feeling about Big Ben in London for some reason, no idea why.

At any rate, looking forward to learning more.

As for Big Ben, I believe you are correct. Time will tell...

I had 2 new emails from Saranna last night but was busy doing "RL" stuff.. pfftt.. I know!

Anyway:

Quote:
This is great info! Thank you so much for all of your hard work. I still can't seem to crack the password, however.

I've been searching around and I found another list, on the same paper and using the same pen as the list of World of Warcraft cities I sent you. The list consists of two columns. I've attached it as an MS Word document. Let me know if you have problems opening it.

and then later:
Quote:
Will,

I'm starting to think the city names might be an anagram. I've been looking at the list, and the letters, D, E, I, and S have been gone over a couple of extra times with the pen, making them slightly darker. I will try rearranging them in different combinations, but I'm not sure if that's the user name or password. I still need ideas, so let me know what you think of the second list as well.

Thank you!

The document attached to the first email included:
Quote:

Dark Light
Night Day
Heads Tails
Capulets Montegues
Republicans Democrats
Cats Dogs
Life

And it was called "DarkLight".

Looking at the second list, it looks like a list of things that are opposite. I think we are meant to fill in the final one, for life:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
An opposite of life is death. Also thinking along this theme, one anagram for the letters D, E, I, S could be DIES. A possible connection?

Cluey observation, The Core & Saranna has an update. BTW: can't find a web presence for Pimca Org. from her blog.

ETA: DEIS also anagrams into "side". If David was "ganked by the Horde", does that mean in WOW his side is Allience?
