Is the Operator always still when he appears in daylight? As in not moving? Not really related to this season at all, but I keep thinking back to when he's in daylight because it's always the most unsettling. Is there any time he moves in sunlight?

This is very interesting, something I didn't notice before. As far as I can remember, no, we don't ever see him moving in daylight. He's always stationary.

Deliberate or accidental?

now THIS is freaking me out.

In Entry 7, Slendy isn't in the alley when you first get a clear look down it. He is by the end of the video. So he can move in daylight. They probably don't show it because it wouldn't necessarily look good. I mean, the best lighting we've seen him moving in is Return, and that looks really fakey, even with all the distortion and poor focus.

When The Operator attacks Alex and his girlfriend in his house, that's during the day. But it is indoors. Hmm

True, but he is never seen moving during daylight. And the means by which he appears and moves is unknown, we definitely know he doesn't apply to our dimension's laws.

Seems to me that Alex has been waiting to jump on Masky. However, I get the feeling he knows it is Tim and has known for quite some time.

I honestly think that Alex and Tim have have a whole side story going on during his absence. I am going to watch all the entries all over again to see if i can gain some more insight.

EDIT: Found this interesting. This was the entry we first see Jay being attacked by Masky in what is assumed to be Brian's house.

Jay was completely silent during his first trip to the house. If Alex was waiting around outside for Jay to show up, he would not have known that Jay had arrived. But when Jay goes back to the abandoned house to stomp around and yell, Alex hears Jay and confronts him. It takes Alex a full minute to enter the house, so I'm guessing he was pretty far away (far enough that he did not hear Jay's previous visit).

But Isn't it just as likely (if not more) that the fact that Jay was silent on the earlier visit and is vocal on this one means that he already knew Alex was there and was addressing him?

Sorry folks, but I'm still completely convinced that Jay and Alex where fully aware of each other's presence from the start of the entry. Here's why:

1> From an OOG perspective, Troy & Co. have never done anything as contrived as the whole talking-to-yourself-for the-audience's-benefit thing (apart from the instances Shoeler mentions below). They've been very careful so far to keep things as far within the realms of believability as possible. If you look at TribeTwelve, Noah does the "cathartic talking to himself" thing, and it's not at all convincing. The MH boys have never done something so cliche'd before, so why would they start now?

Troy's talked about how he's wanted to portray jay to be more human this season, instead of a walking, story-progressing robot. he has started talking to the camera more this season (he whispers a LOOK AT ME!!! at tothepark when he's staring off into the distance, a "MY SAFE" after he tries jessica's safe and realizes that the combo is for his, and that little monologue in the beginning of 34)

But those examples are far more subtle, and more believable.
And...

2> From an in-game perspective, even if Jay was talking to himself, his words don't really fit.
"What are you wanting me to see?" Really does not sound like someone addressing themselves.
As Shoeler suggested, it could have been a cathartic rage-rant but, if he's having a cathartic rage, wouldn't he be yelling "WHAT WAS I WANTING TO SEE?!", not "WHAT ARE YOU WANTING ME TO SEE?!". No, it seems far more likely that his words are addressed to someone else.

2b> Also -OOG again- Troy & Co. may not be professional actors, but this theory sells him short quite a bit. His words sound convincing enough if you take them as addressed to someone else, but if you assume he's talking to himself, it becomes very phoney-sounding. So far, Troy's acting/scripting has been a lot better than this.

3> And here's something that no one seems to have mentioned yet: there's nothing at all to suggest that Alex arrives after Jay. He could easily have been walking behind him. Jay doesn't turn to look behind himself at all until Alex says his name, so who's to say he wasn't standing in the doorway the whole time? It seems more likely to me.

4> The idea that Alex has been camping outside the house waiting for Jay is a bit far-fetched too. It would mean he's either been there for AAAAAGES, or he was there at just the right moment.

We don't see Alex to start with, so we assume Jay is alone (he usually is). When he starts talking, the first assumption is that he's talking to himself because we've already concluded he's alone. I think this is why people seem so sure that Alex turns up after Jay and surprises him - because they weren't expecting him.

If you re-watch the entry a couple of times, from the alternate perspectives that Alex & Jay came together, and the perspective that Alex surprises Jay, the former view is the one that fits the most easily when you strip away any of your own assumptions. The "Alex arrives- SURPRISE!" theory relies too heavily on coincidences and contrivances.

P.S. I've sent Jay a message to see what he thinks, but I'm not holding my breath for a response.

His words fit perfectly IMO. He's watched Alexs' tape and is following the reply paid address - Alex is leading him there, so he's speaking to Alex out loud in frustration - not actualy expecting him to be there.

The "out loud in frustration" part also covers the out of the ordinaryness of this happening, as someone else said earlier in this thread - Jay seems very annoyed.

I'm happy to wait for further updates before coming to a conclusion on this one (but here I go with my ass umptions anyway). I think it is highly unlikely that Alex would kill Tim (I agree with the Injured his leg part), I think Alex rocks up casually because he's been spending the last 3 or however many years evading Slendy (god that guy creeps me out - BTW Entry #26 was the best so far. I mean, you knew it was coming but the delivery was FANTASTIC). I think Alex lured J there because it's a relatively open area with broken windows on all sides for a quick getaway and he possibly has a good view of the area so he knows if someone is going to be there - could have also explained how he knew Tim was there, and maybe this was where he was going to have his little catch up session with J but got pissy with Tim for finding them - so broke his leg (harsh I know but I'd probably do the same).

That'll do for now. Night all.

The other suggestion is that he wasn't waiting for Jay, but staking-out Masky. If that's the case, what was he planning?

We don't see Alex to start with, so we assume Jay is alone (he usually is). When he starts talking, the first assumption is that he's talking to himself because we've already concluded he's alone. Another note is that Jay wasn't at all surprised by Alex showing up. If he came there in entry 34, took a look around, and found nothing, but left and ended up with Alex, and Alex told him to go back, than the shouting does make a lot more sense.

Ah, okay, I'm with you now. It's still a bit too contrived compared to what we're used too though, don't you think?

Come on guys, if J talked to the camera, he would have said something when that guy with the iPod was following him in the woods. And there would be no need for some/most of the commentary slides. It's an interesting idea, but them meeting prior is a lot more plausible.

He did in that entry though. He said under his breath "Turn around!"

Maybe Masky just wanted to give Jay the knife back.

"Hey Jay, here's the knife you left at my place! Oh, you brought a fri- OWIE OWIE OW WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HURT ME WHEN I WANT TO BE FRIENDS?"

First Jay gives Masky a beating when he comes in for a hug, then he ties him up and Alex chucks rocks at him when he only wanted to return the guy's property, and then when Masky comes to the hotel for a surprise visit he whacks the guy on the head again. Masky's got so much love to share and gets hurts so much for it. Sad

Maybe he can't move when someone looks at him? Like the Weeping Angels.

A few things of note--First,before I forget,in response to RockLobster and his pointing out that J had on a green t-shirt in entry #35 and then is seen wearing it driving after events in the shack, and thus being evidence that it's right after the events or the same day--it's very likely, and I tend to agree. The only thing that keeps me from being more certain of this is the fact that J sleeps in his clothes and is 'on the run' and seems to have packed very lightly--so therefore it's more possible that he COULD be wearing the same t-shirt for more than one day.
No one has mentioned this (and yes--I read EVERY POST) and it's a minor detail, but at around 1:06 right as J goes to look around corner and just before TiMasky pops out--to the left of the doorway that TiMasky pops out of can be seen a water bottle.Just sayin' Cool
Also--someone (forgive me for not remembering--it was toward the beginning of the thread) mentioned that the "room" TiMasky comes out of is actually not a "room" but an entry to downstairs. It's not a "closet" as others have been suggesting.I think this is huge and deserves more attention.Who knows what's down there and /or what's going on down there? Shocked

Slenderman lives in a very humble 1 bedroom basement apartment, and was having Masky over for tea at the time of the attack.

Ha! no I kid. Seriously, I'm totally down for another spooky basement of doom.
