When I thought of the blurred text, I remembered the Return video. The words "found you forever" are blurred too.
And there IS some attention to J's eyes in Return.
And I've seen versions that there is a Morse code in Return as well.

Maybe it's directly related to when TTA himself takes camera shots, and when it's lifted from other sources?

As far as the blurry text goes, we have "Return", where we have a shot of Jay in a house with the Operator, we have "Addition", where TTA caught video of Jay having a coughing fit, and then we have "Fragments", where it seems to be shot on the carpet of a living room floor somewhere.

But that theory gets shot down with "Signal", though, where it's obviously lifted... but all the characters have red coloration around their eyes. And the "COME BACK find me" is blurry.

So, maybe it does have something to do with the eyes. There are other videos, like "Operator" and "Admission" where a different font is used, but there doesn't seem to be such a focus on anything related to the eye.

Random thought that crossed my mind- What if the cut out eyes are a symbolic referance to an Oedipus Rex type-situation? Meaning Alex now knows some sort of terrible truth? Or that he did something terrible himself?

I don't mean to come off as rude, but I understand the story (and the irony in the blind oracle seeing the truth.)

What I don't understand is how and why you would connect Oedipus Rex, even symbolically, to MH, when the only reference is Alex' missing eyes nose in the Fragment pics and the fact that he has done something,,, I guess we can agree on "extreme" - whatever his motivations.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but I just don't understand what you mean.

I don't think it's calling to that piece of literature, so much as MH refers to eyes, seeing, 'SEES ME', etc. often enough to be self-contained reference.

Also, this really seems as though it refers to the events in #35. If it's directed at Alex, or at least, the 'must die' part is, I could see that being Masky/Tim holding a grudge against getting hog-tied and beaten. It's weird that Fragments is posted just before #35 came out, though... Either TTA was well enough aware that the events were being filmed and that Jay would stumble on them soon enough (which is likely, I suppose; Jay mentioned the date and TTA would likely well remember that particular day), or else he just wanted to voice his general HAAAEEEET for Alex as a way to say hello again. Also that Jay sucks.

Kind of takes some of the menace away, looking at it like that.

What finally struck me most about Fragments after watching entry #35 (and reading through ALL 50 pages of the thread) is the gravity of TTA's warning. Assuming that "you are broken, you cannot be fixed" refers to Alex, and that the video is a warning intended for Jay, this implies that Alex is no longer the person he used to be, likely due to Operator exposure.

There were some beautiful posts piecing together the pictures (especially by dfw, who posted all three images). I think what's most important here is not just the lack of eyes, but that each picture has progressively *less face* than the one before. Several people mentioned on the #35 thread that Alex is seeming more and more antagonistic. If less face means what I think it does, than Alex is either working for the Operator now, or somehow becoming like him.

If Alex is working against Jay and TTA knows it, then the "Help" at the end of #26 might have been TTA asking for Jay's help, fearing an attack by Alex. (I'm of the opinion that TTA is not Tim, but that they work together.) This would also explain why Tim rushed past Jay to attack Alex in #35. He may have wanted to scare Alex away, anticipating his malicious intent. Also, if Alex is becoming like the Operator, that would explain why he "MUST DIE."

Bottom line: Fragments may be suggesting that Alex's humanity is in fragments, and that he is losing the pieces so rapidly that he will never regain them.
