This? Is a good theory. A very good one - let's keep it around. They said that Stephanie had moodswings - this is clear in the one we know, I'd say.

This just makes me wonder where Alex fits in... I mean, he's not one of the first four...

Maybe the Rake was an attack dog/assassin of sorts? Cleaning out the loose ends, like The Langoliers?

It's probably been brought up before, but I can't remember if it has, so... well, my two cents.

Hey, Rhi. Remember that house on Baldpate I dug up a picture of? The one you recognized from the videos? You ever find out anything else about it?

somniate, I also wondered re: the Rake's targets. I don't think he's ever assaulted the 4 or any of their stuff. Just loose ends - Ryan, possibly Linnie(?) at Lambertville. And Alex. Who needs to be watched carefully. I think he's collateral damage.

I do like your theory, but way back in the first thread, it was decoded that the EverymanHYBRID logo looks a lot like an inverted operator symbol.

So pure spec here...but when I read that they have quoted Bible verses it brought to my mind one thing when I thought of the Bible. Where in it does only 4 characters that have specific roles? (besides the fiery furnace where it's more of a 3+1 thing)

4 horsemen of the apocalypse. Might be worth looking into and see how it fits.

@re: Safety Scissors's jib

It is a very fine jib. Excellent example of its kind, modern cut, good grade canvas. I say we rig this thread fore-and-aft, run out the cannons and go a-pirating. Smile

@re: Actual theory about the crew being paired

I do like it. The color coding ought to mean something. The tricky part is -- which pairs. You could say that Evan/Stephanie make one pair and Jeff/Vince another. I base this on the fact that Evan/Stephanie seem to hit it off the best, not to mention that it is Evan (of hardly-uses-computers fame) who pointed out her Tumblr. Now, Jeff/Vince are a touch trickier, but it is said that they have been friends 'since forever'. Now that we have a (but not the) pairing the question is, how do we extract useful information from it. Any ideas?

@re: 4 horsemen 3 horsemen and one horsewoman

Interesting. The problem is, while you could place Death (Stephanie's the one most affected by death -- what with her entire family being dead) and War (Evan sure does like his knives. And bats. And armored knife-and-bat armed warcars.) the other two are a difficult proposition. First of all, Famine & Pestilence are less glamorous to us now, and second, the remaining members of the EMH crew have no strong association to those two concepts.

You could say that Jeff is Pestilence because he works in a hospital and Vince could be Famine because he was the initiator of the fitness show which includes dieting. But that's stretching matters to an intolerable degree.

@re: Alex

All of these fancy new theories about pairings and horsemen of the apocalypse seem to ignore Alex. Which is curious, because he is clearly heavily involved. What is his place in the cosmology of EMH?

I'm just going to put this out there, and I don't recall if it's been covered before or not, even though I've lurked here for quite a long time before joining a short time ago.

I think Alex is HABIT. *shrug* He has delusions already, that we know. And apart form being Jeff's brother, why is he there? If he was inconsequential he could have been eliminated with the parents. I don't really have anything to back it up, but TNC did just receive what seems to be Alex's hat in the mail, and he would be in a position to know details of the Four.

We could also say, if the Rake is HABIT's pet as has been supposed, it wasn't actually attacking him those times, but coming to tell him about deeds done.

I'm going back to lurking now. Cheers.

I'm not versed well in the Bible, but aren't there more characters to the end than just the horseman? The dragon/whore, the anti-christ?(I'm actually just going off what I know about Southland Tales:( )

[quote="Caers"]I think Alex is HABIT. quote]

Actually, I'm with you on this....Providing that HABIT actually isn't some sort of wayward possessor.

The guys seem pretty insisten that they're the only ones who have access to things, but it seems clear that Alex could easily do stuff behind Jeff's back.

Ditto for Jessa, though.

@re: Ouroborus

There's a whole menagerie of horrible things in Revelations and/or Daniel. Lot's of symbolism, mysticism all that good stuff. However there's too much, I think, to be easily fit into EMH. Besides, this being Slendertainment, I should think we need to take a look into the other end of the bible. The one with Arks. Smile

If HABIT were a "wayward possessor" I think it makes entirely more sense for him to be in Alex, at this point at least. He seems to have been a part of the MTF Evan, and could have even been in EMH Evan at one time, but with so much focus on the Four, and Evan as the likely "host" it just seems to me that Alex would be a far better choice of avatar.

Edit for my own clarification, not to say he doesn't jump about but as a base to come back to, so to say, I think it makes sense for HABIT to choose Alex.

I should show you the email I sent them.

A transcript of the letter can be found in the video description.

Also Alex, you have a great taste in hats.

Looks so good on me.

Finally, I've posted up a string of investigative photographs of the wooden box itself, found here:

Hopefully you might find something we missed. The general consensus, however, is that you will find the third piece of the quartered paper clue in Memory Town, just over by the Jersey/Ohio border. We don't know who this "Shade" person is, if it even is a person, but everyone seems to agree that the clue itself is only half the piece of the puzzle; A code of some sort. Spy-style, dig? Stay safe, guys.

P.S. I am keeping this hat >8C

Replace Pestilence with Conquest, for the the first of the Horsemen, carried on his White Horse, is a Conquerer bent on Conquest, the lord of internal strife and civil unrest.

The Red Horse, follows, and astride him is War, who will take peace from the world.

The Black Horse carries Famine and his scales, to measure the price of life among mankind. "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!" - Revelation 6:6

The Pale Horse brings Death.

Of these four, the Pale Horse is the one that was originally replaced with Pestilence/Plague and the Sickly Horse, modern media switched out Conquest instead.

In Revelations, there is a fourth and fifth character mentioned. The person from whom the point of view is told ["I looked upon the Lamb as he opened the First Seal..."], and the Lamb himself.

Well, since you guys like the cut of my jib, and all...

Perhaps the pairing idea fits with "....", in which two characters are seen apparently dragging a third, struggling person underwater. The fourth member isn't there, but the video does suggest division within the group.

As far as who belongs to each pair, it might make sense for Evan and Steph to be one pair, since Evan seemed drawn to Steph earlier in the series. But, I don't think we've seen much evidence of a Vinnie-Jeff pairing yet.

I do like the "Four Horsemen" theory, with the group serving as harbingers of doom. Maybe they aren't supposed to represent each horseman specifically (i.e., one is death, one is war, etc.), just the concept as a whole.

Veljko, I think you may be onto something. I wonder if we haven't given enough consideration to the flood and ark imagery. One thing that has always seemed interesting to me is that Genesis talks about a race of giants called the Nephilim who are sometimes thought to be the children of humans and fallen angels. They are portrayed as a corruptive influence on humanity and part of the reason the flood occurred - to wipe wickedness off the earth and "reboot" humanity.

there's actually quite a few more than just those, whole slew of Angels etc...but to go through and name each individually would take a bit of work since some are mentioned more than once quite a few times.

You could interpret the Lamb and the one who wrote Revelations as two more characters in the story, with the Angels being all of us Rabbits who looked upon the scene. Perhaps the Lamb is HABIT and the one who watched is some unwilling prophet.

Perhaps Alex's hat is his crown of thorns, presented at my feet?

Most modern depictions replace Conquest with Pestilence, I imagine because the image of plague cutting swathes through civilization is much easier to visualize given the bubonic plague and the Spanish Flu pandemic in the Twentieth century.

Conquest is just harder to relate to in the modern era as opposed to then when civilizations such as the Romans could eradicate whole cultures militarily. When it is present I think it tends to be folded into war's purview.
