from what i've heard, themes of the ark, the bible, flood, rain, and water are all associated with the slendy mythos, not just in MH either. whether water is good or bad in the operator's eyes (hurr durr) is a different story. just an observation - we've never seen the operator standing in the rain, have we? then again, has it been raining in any entry?

It's rained/drizzled in at least a couple of entries and one TTA video, I think.

If water has any effect on the Slend, I would think it would be bad since Troy and Joseph mentioned that he likes fire in an interview.

Sorry to go a bit off-topic here, but I'd like to bring up an idea that may allow for a little extra speculation in the totheark videos.

The symbol commonly referred to as an "S" really isn't an S at all, but is likely the Greek letter Zeta. Here's a side-by-side comparison (the two black symbols to the right are two variations of the lower-case letter Zeta):

I've searched the forums and someone over a year and a half ago actually posted about the symbol resembling Zeta, but his comment was overlooked because it was only a small part of a larger post he had made. So, I just wanted to bring some more attention to this possibility and see if it sparks any speculation in anyone's mind. It made me think twice about its significance.

I betcha Jay posted all the videos he found in the safe right after he originally filmed them, but the Operator deleted them and made everybody who watched them on YouTube forget they ever existed.

Yus.

That has to be what happened.

That's odd -- to me, the symbol looks more like the symbol for Stigma... which in this case seems as though it would work right off of the word 'stigma' with the religious context of the ark, 'deluge', etc.

You know, that image DOES look remarkably like the curlycue Zeta there. It's not quite the same as the one on Tim's shirt (though honestly I've always thought that one was a bit dubious; that darned shirt looks like it could easily just be the kind of shirt that has nonsensical splashes of color).

From the wikipedia page:
Wikipedia wrote:
Zeta (uppercase Ζ, lowercase ζ; Greek: ζήτα Modern Greek: [ˈzita] zíta) is the sixth letter of the Greek alphabet. In the system of Greek numerals, it has a value of 7. It was derived from the Phoenician letter Zayin Zayin. Letters that arose from zeta include the Roman Z and Cyrillic З (Ze)."

So we've got the numbers 6 and 7, and the letter Z. It being the equivalent of Z seems to jive well thematically with totheark's style, I think... last letter of the alphabet, endings, etc etc. But if he was gonna go greek he might as well just have used Omega if he wanted to say "endings". It's so much more well known and understood.

However, in the context of the video with "BLEEDMORE" and the code for YAMA, all of that adds up to something pretty sinister. That's taking the stance that YAMA refers to the Hindu god of death, anyways. Could it simply be a reinforcement of the general message of the video, which involves death and blood?

Looking through the "other meanings" of the symbol in wikipedia doesn't really draw anything else; lots of mathematical functions. Maybe someone with a basis in mathematics could look through the list, see if anything jumps out?

Uh, no, I'm pretty sure that you were being rude if you had to preface it with a disqualifying statement. You could always send a PM if it bothered you that much.

And how do you mean, 'out of the scope of this series'? Please elaborate: I'm curious about what you think the scope is, unless you feel that stating so would also definitely-not-be-rude-but-maybe-might-be-so-just-in-case-you-remain-annoyingly-vague?

I'm going to tip my hat to this being dead on. It looks exactly like that symbol, and in fact it's probably from that wiki page too because the image shown has no background.

To defend him a little bit, he probably meant "and I'm not trying to be rude," but he forgot to include that. I think for the most part it's fairly irrelevant which form of then someone uses on the internet, as long as we can infer what you mean, it doesn't matter that much. We all make mistakes.

I assume he means the storyline is just way simpler than that given the scope we have of it as shown by the entries. Theres no true way to prove his point, it's difficult to quantify the scope of a piece of art, but he's trying to imply that Marble Hornets isn't attempting to be House of Leaves, but maybe something more like Inception.

Looks an awful lot like a word-final sigma to me: ς

I couldn't really think of where else to post this and it REALLY dosen't need its own topic so I guess I will just ask here. I know from checking the wiki that some people sent questions to totheark through some messaging system and he replied with (not suprisingly) slightly cryptic responses. Through what medium did these people contact TTA and is he still responding?

I think they were just comments on his YouTube videos, or messages through YouTube.

In the interest of giving this sorely-neglected thread its due, I'd like to hear some speculation from people on why the Operator hasn't been seen in a while.

We've had one sighting of him so far this season, and that was in a video clip from Jay's blacked out 7 months.

In season one, it seemed like the Operator had latched onto jay - Return, imo, points to this. "Found you forever" is pretty ominous when the only players it could be referring to in the video are Jay and the Operator. The Operator clearly went after Alex in Entry 26, but I find it difficult to believe that it wouldn't also be targeting Jay, especially since he's woken up and been interacting with Jessica (who it seems is also a target for some slender-stalking.)

Perhaps what I'm trying to say is it's potentially VERY concerning that the Operator hasn't been seen yet. And I can't help but wonder where it is, and what it's doing.

We haven't seen the operator in a while so that we've forgotten him so that when we finally do see him, probably within the next 2 or 3 entries, it will scare us that much more shitless.

If that's what they're doing, they've dragged it on for too long because now a lot of people are wondering what the hell happened to Slendy.
