I can't remember an instance of the Operator symbol anywhere. Could be wrong. Though I saw one when the GUILTYGUILTYGUILTY picture flashed by, but I just checked and I was wrong.

It's always been my impression that the symbol doesn't stand for Slenderman per say. It's just something people draw when exposed to the Slenderpresence as it is a fairly simple way to suggest 'no face'. And given that MH has used it to good, creepy effect, it has become a bit of a calling card in the fandom. At best it is a creepy feature of the Mythos. At worst, it is harmless-verging-on-slightly-annoying. I've no problem with it.

In the country I live in the traffic sign for 'no parking' is the Operator symbol. As a result, every day on my way to work I have to walk past a huge Operator symbol scrawled uncertainly on the ground in chalk.[1] Oh, such rich nightmares I have. Smile

I actually had an idea for a Slenderseries (which you're all free to steal, since I'm lazy and will never accomplish it) that starts out as a series of podcasted lectures on the (fictional) history of the legend as taught by a folklore professor. It would be a fun place to start, I think.
