The countdown has begun! On 25th February we will be launching one of the largest Alternate Reality Games to come out of Northern Ireland. Over the period of four weeks we will engage players into an interactive narrative full of games, phone calls, real world tasks, live events and much more.
Players will ultimately become part of an unwritten story, as once the ARG is complete we will be publishing the story as what we believe to be the worlds first crowd sourced novel, writing itself as the game unfolds.
If you think you have what it takes, join the cause now to be kept in touch and don't forget the clock is ticking!
Join the cause! @ Black Helix
This does sound pretty cool. I like the idea of making a novel out of it. I'm definitly down.

4 days until launch? I say!
This sounds like something with awesome potential, IF in fact they truly have the means to pull it off. So far I'm the only one who has followed @BlackHelix on Twitter; as the old song goes, "One is the loneliest number..." I'd love some company there!
My main concern, being in Midwest US, is how much if any live action will actually be accessible to me, what with the game originating in Ireland.
Time will (hopefully) tell what develops...
Cheers,
Rich

Hmmm, I'm in the Midwest too. I hope I can see some action on this one.
Just my luck that not one, but two ARG's are starting up, just as I become interested in them!

Sweet.
I'm not in Ireland, but I am in England so I'm kinda nearby. Hopefully there may be stuff going on in England as part of it.

ahaha....as i mentioned, that was the background image (http://www.theblackhelix.com )
....I did type "levels adjusted in photoshop" in the description of the image, but perhaps I should have explained it more clear in my message body
basically, I just hit "auto level" and that's what i got; I did try to play with the levels manually and dicked around with contrast and such, but it didn't turn anything more than the auto level's did
changing the resolution did not help with detail
the only discernible words I could make out were the sounds of hamburg logo, and Rwanda Clove? with a 204 degrees and 400 beside it

Re: background image Even before cyng adjusted the resolution, I saw the word "sounds" on the right side...

took the liberty of isolating and making some adjustments so the lettering was more visible. I'd normally be able to clean it much more but the fact its a gif file and not a jpeg puts limitations on color correction.

powers behind the the throne? For what it's worth, if anything, I've noted on the Helix website that the ARG is supported by the Creative Industries Innovation Fund, the Arts Council of Northern Island, and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure. Therefore I'm thinking to earn those backers, the designers more than likely will be employing arts - music, literature, painting, sculpture, acting, etc. - as significant components of this experience. In other words, besides the latest media buzz, we may well need some knowledge of higher culture!

...TOTALLY getting in on this. I'm too far away to participate in the local ARG, but if I can follow virtually I'm totally going to.

Shirley it has potential.
Will keep an eye on it.
Apparently, none of the people I met on previous ARGs (PIE Theory or Love Letters, anyone?) is aware of this. So I'll be screaming about it.
