Any updates? How are the stands looking?

This is the deal with the stands. The original grid I designed came out GREAT! but when they did the mold, the grid itself was so thin that when they pulled each one it destroyed the mold, which isn't good. So I went in and redesigned the grid to be thicker. It looks different, but it still looks good and it will hold up when we pull the molds.

Out of all the things that I expected from doing the ring cradles that hold the bits from the base, I thought the no would be the hardest to design the ring cradle for, but apparently it was the easiest.

So there was a problem getting the ones they designed for the neutral and yes, but I already know what the design is going to be.

So the money we gave the company to make the cradles will basically be spent here in texas instead. after they are done here, I ship that box to Steve and then all the bits go out.

Simple and easy.

Yeah from what Steve says, Jay has been gone the past three weeks pretty much, and while we are frustrated with that, we are trying our hardest no to rock the boat, because in spite of that, they did a SUPER PHENOMENAL job on these, and we want them to do that same job on the discs. The discs are a lot less complex in molding and casting, and we want to continue to do work with these guys.

So just not to rock the boat, Steve has the bits, I am about to get all the stands in order just to get back to Steve ASAP!

Thanks for being patient with us guys. The whole reason it has taken SO SO long is because they are only charging us cost, so when a BIG company comes in with the $$$$$, they push us aside to get the BIG paying jobs finished. We ARE the little people, but we got a PROFESSIONAL product out of this.

I have said it time and time again, IT'S ALMOST FINISHED GUYS!!! I promise!

stands

The stands have been designed. We are waiting for the guy to tell us how many sheets of acrylic we will need.

And we are still missing about $500 from people. If you owe and/or can shoot us $20 for stands if you haven't, help out.

Thanks guys.

Pictures soon and I have to send the to Steve which I will do monday.

So do we have a revised ETA on these? I purchased a second set for my brother as a Birthday gift. His Birthday is in March and I wasn't thinking I would need to worry about having them by then. Seems I should be worrying a little now.

Looks good, just make sure they will last for a long time. Do you know if the acrylic with yellow in the sun due to UV? I doubt I'll have this in the sun but just in case.

Do a stress test, see if you can smack a tester on the wall or table a few time- not super hard but enough compared to dropping it from a high spot. Push down on the holder part with the palm of your hand to see if they give out do to weight over time. They look great on in the images tho. Nice design.

design

And you guys can thank Mr. Phillip Wise - AWESOME GUY - for the design of the rings and the braces.

I spent about 3 hours at his shop working on these with him and they came out great.

That acrylic in the pictures is opaque white because that is what he had lying around as scraps.

But the acrylic will be clear.

We have $500 missing and it is going to cost us exactly $300 for the completion of these stands so if you owe us money hurry up.

And Rusty, you will be the first person to get a set just so we can try to have it to you in time for your brothers birthday.

Sorry I have been lax, I have had some severe family issues going on and I promise I am still on top of this.

thats not exactly true. Its $300 just for the acrylic cradle parts to be cut and buy the material.

I still have to buy glue; plus we still have the inlays, base, and risers to purchase.

while i have been doing some stress tests, as the 'prototype owner' i'm sure RetroGamer might have some objections to your 'fall test' Laughing

Too bad this didnt happen like 5 years ago, I could of gotten all the acrylic from the scrap pile and gotten enough glue for this for super cheap, if not free.

Looking good!

As far as the folks who haven't paid yet, unfortunately seeing that there are only a handful of us who are still posting here with any regularity, I hope the stragglers are even still around. Sad

The holders are looking great. Love how the shapes are gently 'cradled'. With clear acrylic, I plan on lighting them with LEDs, possibly in color to match the shapes. I can't wait for the finished product.

Again, great job all around.
