It should be tomorrow. I was thinking of Alphabet day as in there are 26 letters in the alphabet. He has also mentioned various times to wait until

Quote:
the Waters run in the Street

And as others have observed tomorrow is the original Forest Frederick Edward Yeo-Thomas' date of death in his apartment.

Ok, got this email:

Attached was a .wmv file, but due to the message above I'm not sure if I'm meant to post it here publicly. PM me with your email address if you want me to send you a copy. Or he'll probably be forthcoming to those who email directly

EDIT:
Poem
The title in the email header & lines of poetry are from a Shelley poem Alastor: Or, the Spirit of Solitude which is considered by some to be his first 'major' poem. Full poem here: http://www.bartleby.com/139/shel112.html
Interestingly, the name of the poem was picked by a friend, and 'Alastor' comes from Roman mythology to mean 'avenger' or - according to the friend who named the poem - 'evil genius'. http://www.enotes.com/topic/Alastor,_or_The_Spirit_of_Solitude

It was written during a time when Shelley had been diagosed with consumption and had a close brush with death. Some speculate that the poet depicted within the poem is meant to be Wordsworth.

The poem was initially not well received by reviewers, and attacked by critics.

Interestingly, this is a common theme in Shelley's work - being an outsider, 'a grand, tragic, prophetic hero', 'figures of the poets in Shelley's work are often doomed to suffer: because their visionary power isolates them from other men, because they are misunderstood by critics. In the end, however, the poet triumphs because his art is immortal.' (Cheat sheet here http://www.sparknotes.com/poetry/shelley/themes.html

The reference to the DeLaceys therefore is very apt - in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein the monster secretly watches the exiled DeLacey family, learns from them, seeks to befriend them, but they run away in horror, which is what prompts the monster towards revenge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankenstein

The Video 131_0001.wmv
My interpretation on first viewing of the video are these images:
4369605441 (scrolling down the page, at a 90 degree angle, mirror image EDIT I google searched this and it linked online to the photo that is one of the last in the video http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:g4AP3DHRYB0J:www.flickr.com/photos/blinkofaneye/4369605441/+4369605441&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=au&source=www.google.com.au)

picture of rabbit from Alice in Wonderland (similar to this http://ebooks.adelaide.edu.au/c/carroll/lewis/alice/images/alice02.png - at first I thought the same, but now I've noticed some differences in the detail - initials in the bottom right corner GA or C4 or something; a black spot/triangle in the lower tummy area; what looks like an anchor or fancy letter 1 in the bushes- I don't know if it's just a diff version of he picture or if it's been tampered with )

picture of maze (same as here http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=806355#806355)

photo of FFEYT (same as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Yeo-thomas.jpg), this image shakes a bit up and down, dancing?, and very briefly a black hand drawn X appears on the stem of the pipe he's holding. a couple other marks happen to around the edge of the frame.

blurry shot of a laptop computer and chair with light lines across it, as if seen through glass at night at speed. [EDIT - number above led to the same photo online http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:g4AP3DHRYB0J:www.flickr.com/photos/blinkofaneye/4369605441/+4369605441&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=au&source=www.google.com.au ]

findme Smile ('findm' in blue 'e' in red, the face is where a TM or copyright symbol might go)

??? (three white question marks)

SONG
All the while a song is playing "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WANNqr-vcx0, this section:

"And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small
When men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go"

Interestingly, Wikipedia's info on this song ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rabbit_(song) )points out some discrepancies between it versus original Alice in Wonderland story including that in the song it says "And the White Knight is talking backwards" (which didn't happen in Louis Carroll's version) but I mention here because F.F.E.Y.T told us backwards.

Twitter not working for me at moment - weird, google says the site is down or moved, not even a fail whale.

wondering if the "findme" message means "find M" or "find E" considering the colour change and fascination with letters.

I got the same e-mail. Looking at the scrolling letters I see that you missed a 4. It should read
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

He also made a tweet that said something about needing to e-mail him in order to get the gauntlet. Twitter was only working for me for a few seconds so I'll have to double check.

Currently experiencing elevated error rates

You may experience some problems loading twitter.com and with Twitter clients. We are aware of the problem and are taking action.

There was no immediate word on how long the downtime has lasted, or when the issue would be resolved.

The new ARG's (interesting, BTW, that Black Helix, also originating from UK, just launched as well) plus all the current political unrest in the Real Word seem to have even beached the Twitter Fail Whale!

I'm thinking that the number in the video is a phone number. Anyone available to give him a call? I would, but I won't be able to until later today, or tomorrow due to various events in RL.

First piece of the puzzle

ddl wrote:

thanks for picking that up! have fixed it. EDIT: Mind you, not a phone number - look again in my original message I have updated with my find.

I was also thinking that the "backwards" reference might mean this information might need to be reversed.

Got RL commitments so will have to leave it with you guys for a while Smile

EDIT: NEW EMAIL

Email arrived from you know who - he's thrown down the gauntlet.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Arrived as a seemingly blank email, of course text was simply white on white. Titled: Progress
Contents:
"@DarkendDL has found the questions.

His profile picture amusingly shows three question marks, three questions looms over all of those who have raised the gauntlet.
The first to answer all three properly to me will get the first piece of the puzzle.

I will not confirm nor deny any answers - when you have worked out all three, you will know.

until then,

13 hours:not one gauntlet raiser has asked anything.Interesting.Glad that I have no phone; just email, net [google etc.] to check.Who's 1st?

@DistilledWill I dream`d that as I wander`d by the way Bare Winter suddenly was changed to Spring...

@palindromer Rise to vote, sir. - with no email though, no gauntlet is raised. Contact me directly than just reflect on things...

PM Should that not be possible, contact me via email, but you'll have to wait one turn of the globe:forestfredericedwardyeothomas@yahoo.co.uk

QZ There are those who have talked with me,not just here but via mail. They have raised the gauntlet high and received e-mail.Talk to them..

Going backwards -
QZ is ZQ is ?
PM is MP is Metro Police?
do we take the caps letters from the poem? BWS is SWB
AP is PA is ?

Why today - I really need to be working on my RL work not doing this!

He threw down the gauntlet awhile ago. Everything you need(and maybe more) is in the video. If I had more time I would explain but I am much like the White Rabbit, late for a very important date.

I'll try to get on tomorrow and explain what I've found.

Edit 1: Gonna post this chat first.

Me: Hey.
Sent you an e-mail.
forestfredericedwardyeothomas : Good evening.
Indeed you did. As you have admitted though, you 'have not solved the where' and, as such, cannot say your answers tie together. Yet.
Discuss with Robert.
Me: Alright then.
forestfredericedwardyeothomas : Is there anything else I can help you with?
Me: Yeah I had a seperate question.
forestfredericedwardyeothomas : We are here to help...
Me: Any significance as to the time the pictures were taken?
forestfredericedwardyeothomas : Which pictures?
Me: Who and Where were- "This photo was taken on June 17, 1902."
As opposed to When on Feb. 14 2011.
forestfredericedwardyeothomas : Do you think that this was by accident?
Or intentionally palced there?
erratum: placed
Me: It would seem that nothing you do is every an accident.
But I can't figure out why this would have significance yet.
forestfredericedwardyeothomas : What happened on this day? Why would we put it for your attention?
Is this all you require of us? For we need rest, my eyes our weary.
Me: Yeah that's all for now. Looking into what might have happened, but Google isn't being very nice.
Wait... Sammy Fain?
forestfredericedwardyeothomas : Then do not use google. Whilst it has helped you so far, use other sources. Search features. 23 9 11 9?
Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing indeed...
But not just Fain - something more closer to us.
HBTM HBTM HBTFFEY-T HBTM!!!
Me: Well then.
forestfredericedwardyeothomas :
Good night for now DarkendDL
Me:
Good night.

And that's all...

Also I figured it out later(I'm tired) the date referenced is the original F.F.E. Y-T's B-Day.

Be back soon with more.

Edit 2: By soon I mean the next morning. Heh.

I'm going to go through what I did step by step first(and quickly as I'll have to leave due to RL soon)

-Shelley sent out the e-mail
-I watched the e-mail and read luci's analysis
-Noticed that luci missed a four, wondered if the number was a phone number.
-Shelley tweeted that he had no phone, I silently thanked him for saving me time, and googled the number.
-I found the same train pic that luci found, but there was a difference. You'll see if you look at luci's link some text at the top:

When I googled it
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I found the current page which showed this at the bottom:
Quote:
WhiteRabbit2011 added this photo to his favorites. (5 days ago)

Which linked to Shelley's Flicker page where the questions are located.
I'm currently working on deciphering them, but I can't figure out the first question(Where?) yet.

The gauntlet has begun. I was far too drunk last night to figure out anything after talking with ffey-t. We have found the questions. I was able to speak with him last night. The gauntlet is a test and there are 3 prizes to this test. And when someone is being tested, its usually as individuals and not as a group. I have sent my answers in to him this morning and I await his response. I will not be sharing my answers because I wish not to "cheat" on this test. Good luck!

I wondered if it was that flickr page. I went mountain biking for the first time yesterday, and spent the rest of the day in an exhausted haze. So I found the flickr page, stared at it dumbly, then went to bed instead. Go me!

I'm working on the three questions now, and I have to say, as pumped as we all apparently are to win his 'prizes', I think we'd do much better to work together. Remember, this is Unfiction. This is why we have a spoiler tag.

@Ofiuco I agree. We will need to work together in the end to complete this. I've done some stuff like this before, where we are pitted against one another, but the truth is in the end you normally have to work together to solve it.

Clues for the 3 questions
I'll help you if you'll help me... (AKA working together)

Where: Names, collectively, have power...
Who: I am a most veracious person, and totally unacquainted with untruth.
When: Treacherous in calm, and terrible in storm, Who shall put forth on thee, Unfathomable Sea?

Okay. So. What do we know?

EDIT to add to Who
DOUBLE EDIT more who

When:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The poem is 'Time', by Shelley.

There is binary hidden in the Rabbit's face. For me, it works out to 20 April 1798 and then some gibberish and an x.

Who:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The poem is Shelley's translation of Homer's Hymn to Mercury (thanks, Language Log, best linguistics log in the world).
The letters in red spell out 'Ignoratio Elenchi', aka a red herring.
The bottom row, when worked out as coordinates, point to Arnott Lake in Canada. However, I was unable to work out a connection between these two things, or if there are instructions hidden somewhere in the square.

And.. okay, this has been bothering me since, but now that I've sat down, put on my linguistics major hat, and written it down, the letters when read from left to right are very clearly Latin or some other Romance language. However, I don't know Latin so I can't work out where the words begin and end very well, and so far my Googling hasn't worked out.

EDIT: OKAY I GOT IT NOW. Thank you Latin stem dictionary.
NATO ACCOLSI GALVANI E PIANSI ESTINTO. PER LUI FU L'UNO ALL'ALTRO POLO AVVINTO - GALVANUM EXCEPI NATUM LUXIQUE PEREMPTUM CUIUS AB INVENTO IUNCTUS UTERQUE POLUS
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luigi_Galvani
whose work apparently inspired Mary Shelley to write Frankenstein. And Galvani died in December of 1798.
However, still haven't worked out the coordinates.

Where:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

No poem that I know of.
It's a picture of green parrots over a fiery red landscape. Frankly, it reminds me of Australia.

The solution to When seems obvious, but Who is weird and Where just escapes me.
