[Important] Please keep Halo 2 spoilers in separate threads

In the last month leading up to the game, many of us are trying to avoid all spoilers about Halo 2 storyline that were not already common knowledge. So, it is worrying when topics like "Halo 2 plot spoilers" and "New (insect) connection to Halo 2" pop up, because now people might assume this is all common knowledge, and cross post this information to other threads.

Please, everybody, keep all Halo 2 spoiler material in clearly labelled, separate threads, with a [spoiler] tag. While it may have an interesting connection to the ILB story, unless the ILB story also reveals it, you are just spoiling the game's storyline for those of us that care.

I second this.

In all this time, I only know that the Covenant are invading Earth and that
the Master Chief is there to stop them.
A month ago, I stopped looking at any new screen shots and there is only
one piece of info that I care to know.

It's not plot related either:

Will there be online co-op?

I hope to learn this and only this in the next 37 days.

Haha, that was my topic saying that I didn't want to see any plot spoilers.

I second that motion of spoiler tags. That way, I can completely avoid those messages since they have no real bearing to ILB and doesnt advance our puzzle work in there.

One issue I've seen in my short time here is that there is too much speculation over where and how this game is going to effect Halo 2. From my point of view, even as a Halo fan, I do not see how that is important. I believe the game can and has been played by those without initial Halo knowledge, and thus the game really doesn't have any relevance.

And so of course, the introduction of spoiler tags and what not is an over-due request -- even if still lenient. I would personally have tried to down the talk of Halo 2 in general, and focus more on the actual ARG, since they are two very seperate games. But that's me. Too much spec over irrelevant topics create unnecessary threads and confusion in general, making it harder to obtain valuable information from the forums.

it's not considered leaked info or spoilers if it has been published in an official magazine and approved by bungie.

Some of us still might not want to know anything, even if some magazine has been playing some preview code and has chosen to summarize the first half of the game.

We don't need to know anything else to know we want Halo 2, ergo, we don't want the suprises in the plot spoiled for us. It would've been way cooler for me once I start playing the game if I didn't know what was in the thread title of that one thread, "Three Spartans, blah blah whatever."

Webster's

I would think the more fitting definition of Spoiler would be information that would ruin later events or surprises for others that have not actively sought out such information, and would prefer to come across it as had been intended by the game makers.

Most games put out strategy guides. That doesn't mean they're not spoilers.

if you're referring to a spoiler tag, then if you look at a post i had done previously, i did say that a spoiler tag would be necessary.

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6932

again, whether you click on a link or continue reading a post is up to you. with "the three spartans...blah blah blah" the title was a reference to "three guys, a girl, and a pizza place." also, the fact that there was no [spec] tag should have notified you that there might be something here a little more solid than other posts.
you're probably right about whatever definition you used for spoiler. however, the information released was from bungie and if they gave the ok to publish it, then they know that you are not being "spoiled"...at least not too much.
besides, the information released was intended to be seen because after all, it was in a national magazine.

That doesn't really change the fact that some of us still might not want to see it, no matter what you yourself think about the situation.
