Re: LSD Trials/MKULTRA
Only speculating

MKULTRA was an illegal CIA human research program, including LSD tests with unwitting persons.

Jessica has stored the MKULTRA file under "secret" - why that? The project dates back to the 1950s, and most information has been declassified, including the document she stores online.

So maybe she didn't want others to know that she keeps herself busy with it, but why? Was she kidnapped (by the CIA?), because she found out something about human subject research at UKSRI or pharmucom, maybe using her formula?

Obviously she didn't want that her formula gets into the wrong hands.

I was thinking about this while I was watching the video about LSD's effects on the military training exercise. The reason that particular experiment was performed is stated in the video as looking for ways to incapacitate the enemy's forces (i.e., the experiment was done on their own forces only a a means of finding out what it would do to the other guys). Given that Jessica's research is on a way to extend the time that a given medication will work (so you don't need to inject your insulin so often, e.g.), her method could also be used to extend the negative effects of something like LSD. For some reason I don't think that really is what's at the heart of this, but it is an interesting thought.

Or maybe the drug companies want her out of the picture because a longer-lasting drug means smaller quantities of it being purchased Wink.

Not much, the document and the documentary film are old.

But we can speculate!

Since they where in the personal section one could guess J thought it was important, relevant to her research maybe, and wanted to keep it somewhat to herself. Well, Dave could get to it, obviusly.

In the documentary they show that they did some anthropological studys pre drugtests, peoples with african roots. Jessica knew and trusted that Proffessor Watt in Kampala, so I deduct she spoke to him about it, also about her own drug and its unknown side-effects.
I guess she shouldn't have.
That is how it plays out in my head.

Re: Wound Healing cypher code

zampa wrote:
The code at the bottom of the Would Healing document.

There are fourteen pages in the document
And the first part of each set of numbers in the code range from 1 to 14

The second part of each set of numbers go quite high.

So, we're talking about each set of numbers in the code representing a letter, or word on the given page of the document?

When I try this, I get:

joeithfrom do hsiosh

Hmm, make no sense? Perhaps the codes relate not to counted letters on each page, but to counted words....

...what do you get?

I still think that this is our next ticket. It seems too much of a coincidence that the Wound Healing document contains 14 pages, and each of the first set of numbers in the code at the bottom goes from 1 - 14. The second set of numbers must correspond to words, or letters, or something else on those pages....and would give us something to go on.

Caduceus

Agent Verne wrote:

The Caduceus symbol is particularly associated with doctors and medicine, mainly in the US, so there is a link there

It's also, more stronlgy, linked with commece and alchemy.

The rod of Asclepius, one snake, no wings, is more strongly associated with medicine than Caduceus.

Speculation: to use a symbol more linked with magic and commerce than with medicine in a subtext of medicine makes me think that making money is more important than making people well. Medicine is big business today and the last thing big companys want is something on the market that enables patients to use less of their merchendise. The biggest companies are American, thought other contries have big shares of the market too, like Sweden.

The observation by Agent Verne about it is that this confusion of the Caduceus with the Asclepius is mainly happening in america. By imagegoogling a little I saw the United Startes Army Medical Department uses the caduceus.

Interview?

I think we first need more information to break the code.

Jessica's colleagues should be deeply concerned with what has happened, and maybe we could get more information by talking to them. Since there is no possibilty of direct contact (no email adresses), maybe we can get someone from UKSRI to give someone of us (who could claim to be a journalist) an interview about the kidnapping and the state of affairs, and maybe he could help us to connect to the staff of UKSRI

What do you think?

Illegal Drug Testing

It occurs to me that the other thing that the CIA document and the films are involved with drug testing, both illegal and legal. Sooo, could it be that while she was travelling or working, she observed actions that made her think ther could be illegal drug testing on humans? And this is why she was kidnapped. This could be the reason she was researching drug testing and storing the info in her personal files.

caduceus symbol
response to earlier info about symbol of staff and two snakes

Caduceus, the staff of the two snakes. The staff is the attribute of Hermes (Greece) and of Mercurius (Rome). It has, on account of this, become a symbol for trade and communication.

In ancient Greece Mercury was represented by Hermes, the quick-footed messenger of the gods, often pictured with wings at his ankles. Hermes was symbolized by the caduceus, the staff of the two snakes . The god in the Roman empire that the messenger of the Greek gods, Hermes, was identified with, Mercury, was the god of merchants, but also of thieves. The staff of the snakes in Rome became a symbol for trade and communications.

This caduceus, or snakes' staff, has been mixed up with the Aesculapii staff, with only one snake, a symbol for the art of healing or medicine. Aesculapius for the Romans and Askleipos for the Greek, this god was the son of Koronis and Apollo and the god of medicine and healing, worshipped at Epidaurus. Zeus killed him with a thunderbolt for restoring Hippolyte to life at the request of Artemis.

So the use of the symbol here might well be to obfuscate, dual snakes suggest thievery, rather than medicine, perhaps Jesse had uncovered a plot to steal from the pharmaceutical company?

Now that's a great idea, and we're told that this game will evolve based on our decisions - so hasn't been written yet.

Are you volunteering?

That actually sounds like a really good idea, and the kind of thing they might want us to do to further the story (and maybe help the novel).

EDIT: Too slow.

Yesterday, I wrote to the "info" e-mail on the UKSRI pretending to be a concerned friend seeking any information about anyone who may have wished to harm her as a result of her research. I have not received any response (maybe the PMs are not active on the weekend)? I didn't think of being more subtle with a journalist angle.

Meanwhile, I will keep trying to figure out the Wound Medicine code.

By the way, for the Mkultra document -- are the annotated A,B and Cs next to the paragraphs something found in the original document or just in the one on the private drive?

Re: Interview?

It's worth a try.

I could do it, but I'm not a native speaker. So I would try to get an interview via e-mail, and we could think together about questions we could ask some possible press officer. Anyway, if there are other volunteers - go ahead Smile

Here's an idea for a contact e-mail - please feel free to correct failures.

"Dear Sir/Madam,

As a journalist, I follow the events surrounding the abduction of Jessica Harrington and would like to begin by expressing my deep regret and the hope that the police investigation will soon lead to new results. I work as a foreign correspondent for the German news magazine "Neu" and would like to kindly ask if your institution would be willing to give an interview about the case in order to inform our readers about the facts surrounding the disappearance of Ms. Harrington.

Thank you in advance. Looking forward to hearing from you,
yours sincerely, ..."
