snipe cube

Quote:
You really are onto something here! However.. why is Z one row down?

I was about to say "there's also an exact match of numbers to letters!" However, I noticed that 3 and 11 are missing

I am rubbish with ciphers, but I'll do what I can! Hopefully someone better at this will come along and figure it out

I think that the 'z' looks more like a '3'. That means that there is 25 letters and 25 numbers, and if 11 and z are missing, then maybe that is the start of the substitution code.

As for the alphabet reading down when you write it like that, it is just because it skips 4 letters then has another one, then it goes back to the next letter at the start of the alphabet.

Okay, so taking the 25 letters to 25 numbers, I matched up the letters to the numbers based on their location (so A=9, F=7, etc.).. not sure if a cipher would be so simple, but I'll post what I found just in case it'll help someone else. Here are the letters in order of their corresponding numbers (starting with E=1, P=2 and so on. I also assumed Z=11 as both are missing from the code page)

E P B R U K F H A C Z O M V G T Q I L S W Y J X N D

Now taking these letters and matching them up with the alphabet, I tried using this to match up with the huge original cipher and the censored version, but came up with nothing. As I said, I'm rubbish at this, so sorry if I'm leading you all down the wrong trail! Sad

edit: also tried "walking backwards" and matching the jumbled alphabet with the reverse alphabet, but didn't seem like I was finding anything. I'm probably going about this the complete wrong way...

The alphabet in a 5x5 grid also reminds me of Bifid or a Playfair cipher. Don't have time to look into it at the moment. I think the code on the ragna-rok/code page is a key to something else, not the text itself.

Snipe Cube

LokiLeaks anagrams Snipe Cube into Use bic pen.
Does it mean snipe cube is an anagram for something or does LokiLeaks hint bic pen as a hint to Paper & Pencil Cryptography?

I have an idea I can't test right now: how about a SCYTALE, using a Bic pen as the core?

Ok so I ran with what nighthawk said about the scytale using a bic pen as the core and I found the same relationship as if you just match the letter with the number in the next set of five. It's been posted but here it is again:

A9, B3,C10, D26, E1, F7, G15, H8, I18, J23, K6, L19, M13, N25, O12, P2, Q17, R4, S20, T16, U5, V14, W21, X24, Y22 and possibly Z11.

The next question is, what document has heaps of numbers on it that we can change to letters, or do we convert the cipher to numbers then maybe back to letters or do the numbers mean something of their own - like coordinates?

Replacement of new letters into the cipher code

Ok, so I took the possible code from snipe cube and replaced all the letters in the cipher with the corresponding number then I replaced those numbers with where they fit chronologically in the alphabet and I came up with this for the cipher:

BMHJR QTKVL OUPZB NLEHY HQQMM QUQTP K?OPE OVMGM EFMHL
FBVIL RWVPU DANZM MNMAB CFUPN YCOGG YRIIG ZXMPV EASPZ
XLGZO HCGSG EKSKP LUBWJ IDINT KVJZO BTFWN BVSFW FBMQP

HLICB WRSUY TGLFA NSBST YBFIX NIRVL PZMXL HMHOL S?CHZ
KREVI UWDGO GSRTP UHAXQ OEMWW TIXYT TCZOO BNUXE NJQHL
BCUIL PEYAY CYHTX WEJOT BAFYO HQKBP IBLKB VIYHK NKUYT

CHJBN XIZMO UNQCS BTLCC JWWTH EKOFU VOLVO RIMHM JQXON
VLQUJ GYQAU FWUX

Doesn't make much sense to me, maybe someone else can see something, I suspect that it is nothing though.

Snipe Cube
Are we falling for a red herring

I started lurking on this a while ago, but I can't stand by on this last clue.
Now I may be wrong, but the term Snipe for me in this case would have to do with a "Snipe Hunt".

Yet again, I may be wrong, but this SCREAMS red herring at me.

And for Snipes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snipe_hunt
This may not directly be putting us on the wrong trail, but it certainly may be making fun of our intelligence (or lack thereof).

I would say if an anagram is found from Snipe Cube, or some other hidden message is found, then go with that rather than the actual picture.

All I can say is...

Why would you bother putting an anagram answer in a bot if it's not of vague importance? None of the other anagram answers are given to you by Loki-bot, so I dunno.. I find it suspicious.

I also don't see why we'd be given a red herring when we don't really have anything else to work on at the moment?

Use bic pen also sounds like use Pigpen... Cant find a Pigpen cipher ingame yet, maybe we still need to find it.

In trying to suss out the significance of the latest clue (ask loki 'what files do you have?'), I substituted the numbers for the corresponding numbered cluster from the original code sheet that came with the documents at the start of the game.

Here's what I got, not sure if it's useful...

9 7 6 2 5
15 19 17 14
10 8 13 4 21
26 18 25 20 24
1 23 12 16 22

KPYAO GYMFM MVMEP VOUHN UZLZT

PYLKJ UELTD PSKJV HBFLF ZYCDG

PMHCI OWPJC REVDM NIAAF OWPJC

If anyone can see anything there, don't hold back.

And here's the same data arranged sequentially i.e. 1-24. The blanks represent spaces 3 and 11

So excited! I got a postcard in the mail!!! And it came with a key... It would appear that it is different -- It's a "Master" key and it has the numbers 3257 on the back.

Sorry I scanned the key upside down on the card, I just got so excited!

I knew I was Sigyn's favorite Very Happy

Does anyone recognise the location on the postcard?

The key looks like it goes with either a small padlock or a PO Box.

There is a New Amsterdam Ave in Buffalo, NY. I google sreet-viewed the whole street but couldn't find any post office, it all looks residential.
