To voice another opinion that I have just realized. This feels like the reincarnation of jonclubs. Not the lisp or anything and I have not much bad to say about either series but this made me nostalgia like crazy. The way he simply speaks to the camera and explains whats going on in his life and its actually decent. I and hope that TAJ will pick up have a little more meat to it soon.

My feelings toward this series are much the same as my feelings for Dark Harvest when it started out. There is an annoyance, bred from the multitudes of people jumping the gun on things and claiming the series to be "The Fourth Classic." As it stands, the series has just barely started. The updates are few and far between, and there is no real character interaction. This one is more of a straight video series.

Thus far, there has been very little development of the characters, and the bigotry demonstrated by that fellow is just barely believable. There is no "subtle slendy" as some have claimed. When he has shown up, he has been in very obvious places and is only difficult to spot due to lighting. Hell, the guy did a video where he just pointed the camera at the thing. That's not subtle, stop claiming it is. All that said, I would like to see where this series goes. I do find the concept to be interesting and since it is STILL WAY TOO FREAKING EARLY TO TELL, I would like to see if it lives up to its number of viewers. Thus far, the acting is okay, and the potential for a great series is there. With good pacing and careful dialogue, this series could very well become something fantastic.

I actually just watched Dark Harvest for the first time today. Are they done or is that still going on?

back on topic- @superpopsiclethorn:: that's what i was sayingggg. it has potential and at this point that's really the only thing we can go on. the acting so far is good (in my opinion). and i like the (so far) storyline. i like the fact that he has NO IDEA *supposedly* what/who slenderman is... like i've said about 10 times.

Just thought I'd throw my twenty dollars in and say that dissuading people from criticizing a piece of work can be a massive disservice to the creator(s). Slick's comments were completely legitimate and completely appropriate in the context of this thread; this isn't an MLAndersen fan thread after all, this is a discussion board.

I've noticed some of the more popular blogs/vlogs tend to escape criticism nowadays due to members becoming bosom buddies with the creators. Which is cool and all that, it's just made me realize that the fourth wall can be pretty indispensable to a PM if you want to field honest opinions about your work. If you're not used to hearing dissenting opinions, it's easy to dismiss potentially helpful criticism later on as adversity and not as a tool for growth.

I don't have any real criticisms for this series so far because I'm not sure they've taken any real risks yet. The blocking in the last video (during the confrontation) was maybe a little too self-aware -- it felt more like I was watching a stage play than two actual dudes arguing -- and I'd say the acting was almost too subdued for the subject matter, but it got better as it went along and they managed to create palpable tension between the two characters without it feeling forced.

Honestly the acting is the biggest draw for me at this point. It's subtle and admittedly they haven't had cause to show much range, but I think they're certainly working up to it. Again, I do think it was a little wobbly in the last entry, but so far it's still miles above any of the other Slendervlogs I've watched. Poor acting has the power to absolutely destroy a series for me even if it has other good merits, so I am just... really appreciative of Mr. Andersen and his journals at this time.

It shouldn't, it's just a picture on Imageshack. I tried hotlinking but for some reason it didn't work, is hotlinking disabled on this forum?

Anyways, I happen to really like the subtlety in the acting. My aunt has a lot of psychological problems, and the sense of vulnerability he brings to the role really feels accurate. Likewise, his slenderman dreams are much less cliche than we've been seeing for a long time. Though it doesn't have the same great effects as TribeTwelve or an atmosphere of dread like Marble Hornets, it's still a great series, I feel.

That's what attracts me as well. Its not a perfect series by a long shot, but this guy is really intriguing and sympathetic. He makes the series fresh and interesting, in my view. (Admittedly I don't watch SM vlogs on a regular basis.)

So far, I have been enjoying the series.
I feel that the criticism should be welcome (although i dont agree with all of it).
But to my actual point I dont think we should cry foul for the use of sub 4 sub. As we have seen he was not using it for the sole purpose of gaining an audience it was actually being incorporated as a plot device.
Andersens brother and friend first became interested in his blog when they realized that it had gained a large following very quickly. the only way to realistically attain a notable following in such short time would be to sub 4 sub. well thats it back TOTHELEARK

Guest- one of the criticisms cited that sub 4 sub was a cheap way of getting a fan base. that's basically it.

You can hide who you're subscribed to on the user page. But there's no fucking way that guy had 500 subs 3 videos in. SUB 4 SUB IS SUPER KEWL GAIS

guest - someone claims that they've been subscribing to channels so that those channels will subscribe to them but there is no proof that they are sub4subing from what is looks like. It also hides the subscription box if you have no subscribers, so that could be the reason

whether this series is sub-for-sub or not, it's solid. that argument is moot. let time tell whether this series has staying power or not. if i had to predict right now, i'd say it does.

It definitely has potential that a lot of other Slendervlogs have not. As has been repeated countless times above (I've been lurking this thread since it started, just never had much of an impetus to post till now) the acting is easily the best that's been displayed in a Slendervlog to date (even the guys from my beloved MH could learn a thing or two from MLA about subtlety, despite their improvements).

If it's sub-for-sub... well, screw it, it's damn good so far in spite of its few flaws, and time will tell whether or not it can meet the standards it set for itself by having that number of subscribers. The true test of staying power is and will always be the view count. Seems to be going well so far, and if they can nail down some of the pacing and maybe tone down their Slendy sightings a bit, they could really create one hell of a beast.

*hears mutters about prophecies of the Fourth Big Slendervlog*

*throws his shoe at them*

*they scatter* Cool

That dude seems to be having the same "Weirdness Censor" effect that Noah had from TT:
