Croatian service

Did I see correctly? When Jim walks into the mortuary, there is a sign that I think says "Croatian service 4 p.m."

Anyone have any ideas? My eyes ain't what they used to be.

OK, wait. I clearly read CROATIAN with 4pm (another 4!) underneath it, but I couldn't read what was after Croatian. Are you saying it said SRVIC?

I don't know what it means, but it's gotta mean something... or nothing. Heck, who know's?

Confused

never lettum c u svic

from the croatian, svic translates as 'sweat'

what is that saying in the show about sweat. I keep asking, and no one seems to know the answer. "if you can't sweat...something...something", or somesuch.

N-E-1???!

I think the expression you're looking for is:
"Never let 'em see you sweat!"
Which I've heard someone or other refer to as...
the "Macho Mantra."

Oddly enough I stumbled across 3 little tidbits of info
about Croatia today while I was researching something
entirely different related to Push...
And I quote:

"1. Dalmatian dog originated from the Dalmatian coast of Croatia.
2. Croatia was the first country to recognize the United States in 1776.
3. Marco Polo was born on the Croatian island of Korcula (pronounced Kor-Chu-La)."

I can't seem to verify the middle one...
And this is what yet another site had to say
about the 1st one:

Dalmatians: Dalmatian dogs probably did not originate in Dalmatia. The origins of the breed are uncertain but some experts believe the dogs may have been brought into Dalmatia by gypsies and used to guard the Dalmatian border.

[I just like the idea of gypsies being involved in all this...]

And there's a bit of controversy about Marco Polo
and his birthplace, too...
Corzola... Korcula... Let's call the whole thing off! Laughing

But there they are...
Submitted for your amusement anyway.

And just in case anyone wants to take a crash course
in the Croatian language, here you go:

http://www.speakalanguage.com/croatian/welcome.htm

Oh, God... What does it all mean?! Confused
Your guess is as good as mine...

Does it have anything to so with the puzzle at hand?
The Magic 8-ball says: "Doubtful." [ Embarassed ]

Oh, well...
Just playing with my mind,
The best toy my parents ever gave me.

Could be Eunice was slightly intoxicated when she put together the announcement. She does love those martinis!

I just just checked Catherwood's file of the people in Push. It doesn't seem like there was anyone with a Croatian last name. Hmmm. Where was Peter Pan written? Anyone know?

when in doubt, use a search engine or a trip to the library.

"James Matthew Barrie (1860-1937) was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland."

"Barrie was great friends with Conan Doyle ."

"Barrie's marriage ended in divorce and he never had any children. However, he was friends with Arthur and Sylvia Llewellyn Davies, and when they died, became the legal guardian to their five sons: Peter, John, Michael, Nicholas, and Arthur. "

"In later life, Barrie was struck by writers' cramp, and being ambidextrous, switched hands. He mentions in several places that what he wrote with his left hand had an altogether eerier quality than the more rational right. (He cites the play Mary Rose specifically). "
