Some sort of stunt is definitely needed as a cover from the sound of things.
I only wish I'd been able to pull a few of the guys together for a night out down there, we could have got the drunkest ones to throw up on the phones. That might have put most people off using them.

Well.

Some people.

No, these were Dean Street so it was before Friday, when the Axon changed.

As of Friday, it seems that we should be able to contact Melissa through
Dana's email.

But included purposely in those emails were all the details the PMs needed to contact the Dean Street phones.

So, even though there was no in-game reason to change it, out-of-game
info made them decide to.

I don't think the problem is that we can't find the right coordinates, I think the problem is something about the way the PMs are dialing the phones is going wrong.

I think that I have read all the info that you London hunters have posted,
but correct me if I am wrong. Your current search is revolving around a
bank of 14 phones and the real problem is the high traffic and noise levels.
Scouting out a new/easier location and reporting it in the fashion that I
suggested would not only give the PMs both an in and out-of game reason
to change it again (to a location that you choose) but it also couldn't
possibly make things worse.

The phones are actually in the London Underground (the Tube) station below Piccadilly Circus. The difficulty is defending the phones against the masses coming through on their evening commute at 18:07. However, there are only two phones left to check.

I assumed they'd eventully be found in an underground station. It just seemed the 'classical' place to put them.

By the way, I never introduced myself. Excuse my rudeness-
Hi, first time poster, long time lurker, part of a cluster of beekeepers up in Newcastle who've been following the London axon saga for some time.

Sorry, I combined some words in your post and got "traffic noise." And mentioned that they were in the Underground because of course there is no traffic noise there. Never mind me. Embarassed

Anyone go today(tuesday)? or had any results from the PMs(mel or sp)?
it seems to me that if it gets to saturday then we should just all go there at once and block all the phones off, even if it involves brute force. and if the police come in, i'm willing to steal all your money so they can arrest me, i'll have to keep the money though!!!
don't know if anyone's noticed but the SPs .wavs have been updated. chapter 6 is now active and it seems that 'Stormy Weather' is the fav. song of jerseys mum. just seemed slightly interesting to me, maybe there's a hint in there about the next code word or something. anyways catch ya later guys

I'm definitely not trying to pester anyone but it seems that the morale has
hit rock bottom. Is anyone here still activily searching for this axon?
Has anyone tried anything else? Sent any emails?
I have a "Axon Round-Up" post and might have someone who can get the
other long standing recipe3 axon. If anyone could get a phone # for a known
telephone that excepts incoming calls and some realistic sounding GPS
coords, I'll try to make up a good story and email it to Melissa.

Malrog and several of the others I know can only search on weekends. I'm not going to be able to hunt any more until November because of work-related reasons.

Heh. Sadly I can't hunt at all anymore. I move on Monday, so this weekend is all about moving, and then after I move I'm just not close enough to London to hunt. If the PMs want to move it to Leamington Spa though, I'll see what I can do Razz

Hmmm, the original GPS coordinates (which you'll probably be able to find on the forums somewhere) pointed directly to a pair of phones on Dean Street, I can't remember the number of them - but I expect someone has the number somewhere, and hopefully they'll be able to tell you them. *looks around pleadingly*
NB: If you DO have the numbers for the Dean St. pair, PM them to AngriBuddhist, don't put them on the forums, we don't want random people calling the phones!

That's the best I can offer. Sure I could go down the road and check out my local payphone, but like I said, I'm moving shortly, so it would be kinda pointless to put it near me.

Good luck!

Hi all, damn i joined abit late but i see our london axon still hasnt been archived..i tried to use the co-ordinates and locate the place myself as i was thinking it could be in a different place and i have come up with some weird locations like in the middle of a golf course lol and around the london bridge area... Confused
So i have given up on that really but i was wondering what the proper co-ordinates were?... and if their were going to be anymore attempts at getting this axon up and running.

The proper coordinates, from the recipe3 page are:
51.509997 -000.134800

This relates to pretty much right in the middle Piccadilly circus. As far as I could tell, when I went there, the only phones that it could be are the bank of 14 in the tube station. However, there are another pair of red phone boxes at the west end of Shaftesbury Avenue, though they are some distance from the GPS location.

As for people going into London, I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not, as I said a couple posts ago, it's just not possible for me anymore. If you need any more info on the London Axon, then you're certainly in the right thread for it - everything you need is here! Very Happy

It is the one of the phones in the tube station. I checked with a GPS unit. As someone pointed out, projections/datums only start being an issue with maps. The fourth and sixth phones from the right hand side have not been checked yet.

Most likely the question is still "Who is your Captain?" with an answer of "Greene," but anybody who checks them out should be ready with the answers from the following weeks just in case.[/sup]

I was in the neighborhood (if we stretch the definition) so I checked the tube station phonebank today (Thurs.) during the alloted period of 5:55 - 6:12. The only phones in use at the right time were the 4th in from either side. The 4th from the right was only in use briefly but it could have coinsided. I was checking the LCDs and listening for ringing but got nada.

4th from right is the only phone left in play I guess, and I'd have had to be pretty unlucky today if that was the one. If I go back again I think I may try some of the overground ones, specifically the ones by the horse statues.

On a side note, weekdays are much better than Weekends for these phones and I could easily have redirected the woman using phone #4 had I not been picking up and replacing recievers on other phones to check for incoming calls. Embarassed I must have looked a proper gimp, but perhaps having a mental patient hanging around the phones is what's needed to keep civilians from using them.
