Should victums in a Slender Vlog KNOW they SM is stalking?
Or should they not know what it is chasing them?

I've often wondered this. I know that people argue over this, and I thought i'd be a cool Idea to make a poll for it. This would also help those making a new ARG not crappy. Hopefully they will listen to the masses!

It depends on the story and how important it is to the plot that the victim knows or doesn't know that Slendy (or SOMETHING) is stalking them.

It's interesting to watch a character who tries to rationalize things, like "oh, it's just a bear in the forest", but it's just as equally interesting to watch a character who's like "I've seen marble hornets, but it's not real. This slenderman is real"

It all depends on how it's done.

I agree with Fawkes. Although, if the prey knows they're being stalked by Slenderman, their reason shouldn't be , "I saw Marble Hornets so I know who it is". I'd like to to be either a reference to the original mythos, or something like that.

I'm sure it'd be amusing to have an uber genre savvy protaganist(I'm also sure that it probably already exists in blogform), but then it would just have to illustrate the point that no matter what they do, Slenderman operates by the rule of "You're fucked".

I'm personally bored with the "LOLZ GUYZ, WHO IS DIS GUY IN DER SUIT?"
It is completely unreasonable in today's day and age that someone who was actually being stalked/saw some faceless man in a suit wouldn't at least google it. (The Slenderman tv trope page is the first link that comes up). So for me, personally, it breaks immersion to a HUGE degree.

I'd have to disagree. I can't remember which blog did it, but by mentioning that he knew it was Slenderman, it bring another level of immersion. But once again, it all depends on how it's done

To me it's an artistic decision, plain and simple.

For me it comes down to who the character or characters in question are. The guy from Origin of Simulation went about it in a really nice way that makes sense for the character. It would be hard for Marble Hornets to have Jay do research because of when it started and how much it contributed to the original mythos.

Agreed. It all comes down to the writing. There are interesting stories to be told from either direction.
