New Pictures Now Rusty was right, can't believe I just said that...
But I needed to make it a little more accurate with the light rings.
So here is the final one. I don't know if we are going to have this lasered out I should know by tomorrow.
Otherwise I am wondering if ANYONE out there can take a .obj 3d file and convert it to a step file, a .dxf, or any other file that can be converted to a CNC studio file.
But let me know what you guys think.
This is how the lights will sit. They are on a flat strip and I will be placing them against the wall on each side, red on one side, blue on the other.
I designed a backplate that will be able to hold in a 9v. Now I could have designed the holes that all the wires will go through, but it will be hard to pull out of a mold, so I think we are just going to drill them and attached this backplate with magnet strips, that way if you have to change the battery, it shouldn't be a problem.
We are going to try to do an ac adapter plug in the back so that you can just hook it up and display it.
The downside of these lights over regular led's is that they have a life span of 50,000 hours while regular single led's have a life span of 100,000 hours.
But in 10 years when and if you have to replace them, all you have to do is pull the old strips off. meh.

updates Well I was told I will get the quote on monday. So that doesn't really give everyone enough time to send me the money.
The only reason I was worried is that I am ordering a bulk of lights from Hong Kong and apparently they have their big holiday from January 20th to the 15th of February.
So I am going to give the guys at the toy company plenty of time to finish the "geometric answers" and I will collect payments on the 1st of February.
I will order the lights on the 15th and hope that me ordering that many lights will warrant them to do a faster shipping.
All the other parts I am ordering are from Canada and USA so what I will do is figure out how much it will cost for all the discs and have them all sent here to my house in Texas.
Then Ill just wire them up, Jason and I can do that over a weekend or two.
That way I don't have to wait to get all of them, lit and non-lit.
Anyway everyone let me know if Feb. 1st is cool with you.
XOXO

It's cool. Are you looking for a deposit or the whole shebang?

It's still a go. Guys the past few weeks have been hell for me, a death, a hospitalization, and even though I "supposedly" graduated in December, the school is giving me some hardcore shit right now. So it hasn't been a lot of fun.
But I need help if someone here can give it.
The guy at the toy shop wants me to CNC the disc out of aluminum because he says it will take a lot of cleanup for him to laser it out of plastic and clean that up.
But CNC'in will leave the path marks and it will be a lot harder to clean up machined aluminum than it would plastic.
BUT...I have the file as an .obj and I need help converting it to something that can be CNC'ed.
The chinese new year doesn't end until Feb. 15th so I won't be able to order the lights until then anyway.
So I promise to keep you guys updated.

Hey SA! Hope everything is going well.
The forum seems more and more dead everyday, so I am wondering if the effort to make the discs (or the people that wanted them) is not happening...
What's the latest status of this project? Has everyone already lost interest? Is this still happening?

Its Happening! Geometric Answers first. Which by the way just got their next step. Assuming we dont run into production time slot issues, they should be done soon which means we can start the Discs soon.

AGGH!!! Sam's necklace was so awesome, I hate waiting for this!!! I hope the Geometric Answers are done, because if the discs exceed expectations like the necklace does, I want this now!!!!
Socal, can you elaborate on "we can start the Discs soon." ?

Are all of your disc holders paid up? It can't be easy with the wait. I'm wondering if slots opened up.
