Reminds me loosely about the 'black sludge' from X-FILES which supposedly lived underground for eons before it was (re)discovered.

Reminds me of an episode of Outer Limits called Trial by Fire. There was contact with an alien and fleet. Initially there was an object that struck the moon that they thought was a weapon but it turned out to be an endless supply of energy for the alien fleet. Turns out the alien lived in a liquid environment too. The alien from that episode still freaks me out at 32 years old...

For those mentioning Ohio caves, there are a couple large caves east of the Lillian map area in a park called Hocking Hills. The area is east of Columbus and a little south, very rural. One is called Old Mans Cave but is more of an overhanging ledge, the deeper cave itself is called "Rock House"....I know it's most likely unrelated but just putting out as much info as possible.

In regards to all the missing dogs, what if the cube monster creature thing emitted some kind of noise that only dogs could hear? Kind of like a dog whistle.

When they were talking about the dogs running away it got me thinking, usual animals are more perceptive to things going on and are know to flee before something bad happens, i wonder though if it was only dogs that fled the town or if that is the only thing people would actually notice since it is their pets and not just wild animals that most people don't even really pay attention to

I like these ideas.. among the 1 second clips in the trailer there is this one.. now mind you it might just me bombs going off . but you never know

Holding ears?

I think it's unlikely, since (as a dude who lived in Central Ohio for WAY too long) Hocking Hills are really far away from where this is taking place. Ohio Caverns is much closer.

I'm gonna put together the missing dogs and the trailer snippet of the kid holding his ears grimacing that perhaps something is releasing a really high pitched sound that is driving the dogs (and select kids) away. One would expect a cave dweller to use ultrasound to echolocate, so perhaps it's traveling through the cave system and driving dogs away...

The water tower certainly is a source of some kind of energy draw. The object from this scene in the trailer levitate and float towards the water tower.

Just wondered if anyone had mentioned the phone number on the Lost Dog post by "Joe".

I screenshotted it and think it reads 165-4211 could this be anything important?

If you consider that the first number way on the left that you are reading as "1" may be a little blurred or covered up, you may read that number as a "4," which would give you the number 465-4211.

465 is an exchange in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. I believe the area code is 440 so the full number would be 440-465-4211

Anyone want to give it a shot? I'm too chicken shit Cool

[EDIT] I also found that 330 area code has an exchange of 465 in Wayne County, Ohio. Anyone living nearby can verify?

[EDIT 2] Also 513-465 ... lordy, how many places in Ohio have an exchange of 465 ?!? Shocked

Well I will say.. all the other lost dog phone numbers are movie numbers..555-2222 etc.. this one does say 165-4211 .. it has to stand for something.... but in game i dunno

If it truly is "1" and not "4" then it cannot be a phone number as there are no exchanges in the US beginning with the number 1. Which is what started me looking for alternatives.

wellllll.. i hate to feed into this but ... your less chicken plop than me..

So... my primary guess would be this is a cellphone .. IF ITS EVEN A PHONE number.. so i checked where our fake lillian echange would be..

http://www.called.com/phone-numbers/area-code-937/9371654211.php/

I mean come on... the PM's knew we would be looking at the numbers in the trailer ..didnt they? And calling random strangers?

Wheres Rocket when you need her? Razz

Trout LOL, page 7 of this very thread. Very Happy

Which, upon looking at it, is a quote of a previous post.

Hey Jane - I've been calling - just nothing interesting or fun to report. Sad

I tried area codes 937, 614, 330 and all the toll frees - 800, 888, 877, 866, and 855
with 165-4211, 465-4211, and 765-4211.

I agree - can't figure out why this number would be different than the 555 ones on the missing dogs board if it doesn't have some meaning to those of us who would be picking apart the trailer. So if it's not a working phone number, what is it? Maybe just another red herring/brick wall to waste time on.
