On the topic of Tim

So now that Masky is confirmed to be Tim, I thought it might be useful to look at all of "Tim"'s and "Masky"'s appearances in the entries.

Since he was only mentioned in passing, I'll ignore Entry 5. Entry 9 seems important though: Not only does it seem to be the first chronological appearance of the Operator, it mentions Tim arriving on the scene. Since we can safely assume that Tim has had some sort of contact with the Operator, I wonder if Tim knows of the Operator before this point in time? Unfortunately, Tim says nothing so it's hard to know.

In entry 15, very little info is given in retrospect -- but, a few things are noteworthy. First of all, from the ease of which Tim can listen to a little of the filmmaking jargon, and the situation in general, it would seem that Tim (along with Alex and Jay) may be a film student. Second, Tim seems to know very little about Alex, or at least that's how it seems. I suspect (from the line "I could have done worse and I probably should have" in Entry 36) that Alex has had an encounter with the masked Tim before, and in fact may have know it was Tim (from the fact that he doesn't hesitate to hurt him.) In Entry 15, Tim seems quick to shrug off any association with Alex. Or, maybe he really didn't know Alex that well. Finally, he seems very quick to change the subject after hearing about "a guy in a business suit."

Entries 16, 17, and 19 all feature a bottle of water. Perhaps this is just for Tim to swallow his mystery pills (which I'll get to in a sec), but I have a gut feeling that there might be more to them considering how prominently they are shown. I'm not know for my Jedi intuition, though. Wink

Entry 17, Tim shows no sign of acknowledgment of the enigma behind him.

The pills I think are very interesting, though. I work in a pharmacy, and though I'm not the pharmacist, I have picked up a few things about medications and perscriptions. First of all, when Jay shakes the bottle in entry 16, the pills sound small. There are very few over-the-counter drugs that sound that small, especially when considering the fact that Tim was trying to treat cold-like symptoms in entry 20. There's no antihistamine nor cold medication pill that's that small that I know of, not over the counter.

That leads me to believe that the pills are prescription: Not only from the facts above, but because Tim took the time to rip the label off of them between entry 16 and 19.5. Maybe he stole them?

Finally, at the risk of opening up another "who is TTA" debate, I'd like to add that until today, I thought 100% that Tim was TTA, especially considering the comment "Totheark, who I suspect is the person wearing the mask, knows where I live." (entry 19). From a OOG perspective, a comment like that can usually be interpreted as "TTA is Masky." However, today's twitter post said, "Guess whoever (totheark is) knows alex's phone number." Considering that Jay now knows Tim is Masky, but doesn't mention that in that comment, then from the same OOG perspective, it casts some doubt on the idea that TTA is Tim.

I still don't think it's alex though.

Anyways, let's hear some thought on Tim in hindsight, etc.

eh, whatever... tim does appear, he is behind the mask, there is probably someone else behind tta and tim will probably be back to explain some things...

I dunno about that, he wasn't keen on speaking up when Alex was trying to kill him, can't imagine he'd have more motivation to speak than that.

Also, in 15, he may or may not have been drinking tap water before Jay approached him.

I have... mixed opinions on the issue of water.

Initially I thought it a strange red herring. After all, its all very well to theorise that water has some sort of mystical protective power, but really - if drinking water was all it takes to repel the 8' eldricht abomination then really, he's not very scary. Plus, there's water everywhere. Everyone drinks water or stuff that is mostly water. What makes Tim's bottle different? It is true that we've never seen the Operator anytime when it's raining, though I do slightly suspect thats down to bits of it being made of papier mache ahem.

However, there is a definite emphasis on the water. Perhaps its a thematic thing - like the different characters all have a classical element attatched to them. The OP set me thinking this when mentioning how the water is associated with Tim. Might we be able to see a similar association between other players in the story and a classical element? Brian had that firey painting in his house. Has this ever been brought up before? I'd like to see if there's any milage in it....

I wouldn't bother trying to figure out what the pills are based on their appearance or sound. I may be wrong, but I'm sure they're probably just aspirin or something easily obtainable. Whether or not that's what they're SUPPOSED to be is a different story, but I think attempting to figure out what they're supposed to be and what they really are will yield you two different results.

As for Tim himself, I'm of the opinion that he was the first victim of Slendy and therefore has more or less completely turned puppet by this point in the series. Maybe he's appeared normal, but assuming Slendy is as pro as would make sense, Tim is probably easy as pie to manipulate. Tim is Slendy's human tool, if you will.

I'm also willing to believe that he really isn't under control and is just getting sicker, especially mentally. I don't know if he's really trying to help Jay just to get to Alex (which might make sense since we know that apparently Jay is much easier to find than Alex) since he does essentially attack Jay, so we don't really know his M.O.

Who knows. All I can say is that I hope he lives, since he's by far my favorite.
