I decided to poke around some cartomancy sites, cartomancy being basically fortune-telling with a normal deck of cards instead of tarot cards. Here's the website these came from, but a lot of sources seem to agree on the basic meanings...

Jack of Hearts (Jeff)
Card of Cupid: The card represents a lover, best friend, or confidant. If the Queen of Hearts is present, it can represent a couple. This card may represent you, someone you know, or someone you will meet.

Queen of Clubs (Steph)
Card of Charisma: The card represents a woman with much authority and power. She is sociable, outgoing, friendly, charming, graceful, and elegant. She may become moody or lonely at times. She may represent a wife, girlfriend, sister, or close personal friend.

Jack of Spades (Evan)
Card of Slyness: This card represents someone who is lazy or hinders progress. It can indicate betrayal or a trouble mind. This person can be very charming and witty, but sly and aloof.

Jack of Clubs (Vince)
Card of Trust: The card represents a faithful friend or an honest and respectable person. They have your best interest at heart. They are helpful, supportive, and a thoughtful person.

King of Diamonds (MAN)
Card of Capitalism: This card represents a successful businessman, one who runs his own business, a man in the finances, or a tycoon. He is very powerful, sharp, perceptive, and shrewd. This man is mature and distinguished, but can be very vain. He may be a military man.

Ace of Hearts (Doc)
Card of Holiness: This card represents an influential man, someone who has the power or ability to do something good. It can represents a man who is a loving father, the conception or birth of a child, the perfect lover, or partner. He is very romantic and passionate. He is affectionate and emotional, but is give to rash judgments.

If it makes you feel better, qa, I'm going into theory overload. And only half of them are understandable.

I'm not even trying anymore. My brain took one look at those pictures and went NOPE.

I have it in my sub-brain processing right now. I am awaiting the transcript or scan of the letter to really get started thinking on this.

Oh, I remember reading Everyman back in high school. I was wondering if it would come into play in EMH.
Darn, I still need to do the homework I procrastinated on over Spring Break, but there's no way I'll be able to focus on that with this going on. WHY DO THEY MAKE CACHE NOW?

Thanks, this is a great find! Supports Man= Slender arguement, and seems to fit pretty solidly. Evan's worries me slightly.

Okay, I - my mind shuts down at card games. The only one I can play is 21, that's the kind of scatterbrain I am. Look, all I ever studied seriously was writing and film, leave me alone. Anyway, I suck at analysis of cards.

What I will say is the painfully obvious. The cards appear to be made by HABIT. Once again he separates himself from Evan. He also mixes "Dog," probably a deliberate misspelling of "Doc" to demean Corenthal, in with cards that are clearly for the EMH gang with their modern nicknames - which means either he is associating them with the MT4 and Corenthal for reasons of his own, or there is no real difference in his eyes.

Beyond that, my next question is WHY EVERYMANHYBRID. We now have the Everyman part. What does HYBRID mean? What are they? Is it the obvious suggestion we came up with in Angora - a fusion of past and present?

We need to know who came up with the EMH name among the kids, and why. And Cougar Draven is on it, thankfully.

Vinne = voyeur works but my first thought when reading that quote is that WE are the voyeur. We're observing from afar and insisting that our strength as a unit is helping them.

Ok, here are my observations so far:

Habit: Joker. Joker's Wild. Cut and with smiley face=Happily Damaged?

Steph: Q of Clubs. Blacked out faces...Next victim?

Doc/Dog: A of Hearts. No idea

Man: K of Diamonds. No idea

Jeff: J of Hearts. Crossed out heart= Jessa. Slashed Heart= Alex.

Vinnie: J of Clubs. Eye may mean the Voyeur. No real clue here.

Evan: J of Spades. Axe and Blade symbolizes Evans love of sharp instruments. Refer to cleaver and Knife he has been seen with.

Thus far I think Steph is in danger and Evan may be her most direct threat. As for the rest I have no idea.

Um, yeah...unfortunately, that is the interpretation of the King of Hearts, not the Ace. I got a little confused running back and forth between Flickr and the card site, I'm afraid. xD Here's what it actually says about the Ace:

Card of Your Home: Traditionally, this card is known as the "Home Card". This card may represent a desire for affection or love. It may represent a new relationship beginning. It may indicate good news coming from/to a family member or friend. It may also show the ending of a dispute. It may show the establishment of a home with a partner or by marriage.

Both would seem to represent Doctor Corenthal fairly well, though, at least from what we know of him.

Also, pretty much everything I can find on the Jack of Spades speaks of immaturity and unreliability, which worries me as well, but there's also emphasis on internal conflict and many sources insist that the person the card represents means well. Overall, I'm getting a clear warning of an inHABITed Evan who may be fighting it, consciously or not.

Ok, break time for food quick. If the pics aren't big enough to read for the letter, click on the pic and it should take you to a larger picture. Click on it again and it takes you to a super large version. I was able to read it fine that way. I'm interested in the discussions that are about to take place.

The book is going to take a bit of time and I think I'll do the important section first and the rest after.
