This is only my personal SPEC, but I believe that the insect-race will NOT be a member of the Covenant. Partly because we have been told, by Bungie, about the brutes and the prophets (new covenant races) specifically, AND we have been shown their pictures by Bungie. However they are not what is referred to by Bungie when they talk about "new surprises"(always amid a thick veil of secrecy). This suggests that there will be a whole new classification of alien lifeforms. This little nitpicky detail isn't really a big deal though and will be moot on Nov. 9th. Smile

The longer I think about it, the more finite's words ring in my ears, he makes sense...

As far as the whole new species thing is concerned I could be, and most likely am, way off base. However, it's generating cool spec that is fun to read so I'm happy.

 		Also, the Joyride Studios (responsible for producing Halo toys) announced of a "Top Secret Covenant Alien" might be those "bugs".

They're even in the Halo 2 Launch ads for a brief second. Three of them on a wall as Master Chief is shooting them down. There's even a single screenshot in the December issue of OXM (Official Xbox Magazine) in the Halo 2 review.
