If someone else could hit this axon...

beg_for_death

...which is on the north side of Hollywood Boulevard at Orange. I've been able to hit this axon just about every week but I'm afraid I probably won't be able to hit it this time.

If you're going: There are two banks of two phones each, one on either side of the entrance to a parking lot just west of the Chinese Theatre; you want the westmost phone in the eastmost bank. The ring is audible but not exactly robust.

Got the 10:19 in Santa Monica! Construction workers were jackhammering the sidewalk there, but were really nice and stopped while we (Bumblebee and I) got the phone.

Anyone getting either the Culver City or Hollywood ones today? Since they're 9 minutes apart, I can't do both. I'd rather do neither (due to my mindboggling laziness), but I'll take whichever one's going to be uncovered.

Yeah, I just figure if someone's going to be covering Hollywood, I might as well take a shot at Culver.

Valley Axon Hunters

Apparently, during live calls this week Melissa urged her "crew" to form teams and coordinate efforts. Anyone want to organize a team for the San Fernando/San Gabriel Valleys? (Which, admittedly, at present consist of two axons in Burbank and one in Glendale, but you never know.) If so, any suggestions for a team name?

Re: Valley Axon Hunters

Dear Team Valley (or Team Ahnold, if you really insist Razz ):

I absolutely, positively cannot hit the 8:04 a.m. axon at the Burbank Airport Hilton on Tuesday (I have to be in Lancaster at 8:30 a.m., Cursing it!). That's the same phone that Melissa called live once before. It's also the first time that it's been that early in the morning.

I'm certainly not going to try to predict another live call or anything. However, it does seem as if Melissa is trying to get her crew to coordinate, and based on last week she does as many early live calls as possible to give us lots of time to complete her assignments. Just a thought.

Is there anyone who can try to get this axon Tuesday morning? Before class/work/whatever? Pretty please?

Well, this here is my first post on the forum, though I've been lurking for several weeks now, and frankly I wish it was more useful.

I've met some of the LA beekeepers briefly. Shad0, specifically; I was that one other guy at the Burbank AMC axon when you unlocked one of the Jersey wavs with the jazz music, way back when. I was also the guy at the (unsuccessful) attempt at the first recipe3 wav way out in Buena Park with the baby carrier and The World's Best Wife.

I've looked at my schedule in just about every which way I can, and I'm not going to be able to hit a single axon in this upcoming set. I've got plenty of "free time", but none of it that can involve leaving the house without several hours of preparation. I was all set to find the Culver one last week, before Melissa moved them to late afternoon and killed that plan.

That being said, I'm ready and willing to help out however I can, especially with Team WhatEverWeCallIt. Need a password relay? Someone lurking the forums while you guys hunt axons? Something else I can't think of? I'm on it. My cellphone number will be available via PM here, and assuming I'm not completely beaten to the punch by the extreme-class puzzle solvers elsewhere in this effort, I'm all prepped to add my thoughts to the mix.

Well, I think I'll be able to get to an axon (Santa Monica) this week, haven't hit one since week one, the timing/location has always been wrong for me. I do drive by the Culver City location on the way to work usually, and as far as I can tell it is on the Sony Pictures lot, so that would make it difficult for regular folk to get to.

Need some opinions guys. I think I can make all the LA (non valley or OC) axons this time around except for Santa Monica. The other thing is Hollywood and Culver City are too close together to make both. It seems as though Culver's hard to get anyways, but this week it's being called twice, so it gives us more of a reason to try. I haven't tried that one yet, but I'm thinking we might have to sweet talk the security guard, or maybe show some leg (yes, I'm male). So, go for the safe bet, or gamble on Culver. The other thing with this is going out in groups seems to be a big deal, so having more people in Hollywood might be better than having some in Culver too.

Oh, and since there's the whole team deal, don't change your plans into not going just because someone else said they'll be there.

shad0- I might be able to hit the 8:04 axon. I live in the area and might be able to catch it before I go to work (if i'm late i'll blame it on traffic). Could you tell me exactly where it is, I'll try to scout the area out tonight.

The axon is in the Burbank Airport Hilton, located at 2500 North Hollywood Way in Burbank, right across from the airport (hence the name). The lot has a 15 minute grace period, so don't get there too early unless you want to pay for parking.

The bank of phones you want is NOT the one closest to the main hotel entrance. If you're across from the gift shop, between the hotel entrance and the Daily Grill, then you're at the wrong bank of phones. You want the ones east of there, away from Hollywood Boulevard and towards the Convention Center. You should turn left after entering, and then actually exit the hotel proper to get to another wing of it, going down a little covered walkway that borders the parking lot.

Once you find the correct bank of phones, you will see that there are three normal phones on the left, and then some credit-card and other non-normal-type phones. You want the rightmost of the three normal phones -- that is, the third phone from the left. The phone rings audibly, so no problem there.

(As an added bonus, if the last few weeks are any indication, you will find yourself in a room full of uniformed sherrifs. That's how you'll know you're in the right place. Mr. Green )

Good hunting! And if you talk to Melissa, feel free to mention my name. (That's Lt. Cmdr. Shadow to you, Midshipman!)
