The only thing I've been able to find is that:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You can call it by name, which doesn't seem to be the case for any other seals.

...Yeah, I have no idea what you are talking about. I've been playing with the puzzle thing and no dice.

Okay... Found the target page. I guess it fits the definition of recursive.
I'll have to read up some more to continue, when I get home.

recursion puzzle
opps, I got it now

I got it now. I swear I typed this exact solution a long time ago and it was rejected! I guess I didn't.

Can you give some hints on how to decode the puzzle? I have no idea where to even start.

recursion puzzle
small hint

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_theorem
'we are dividing the problem into a number of sub problems recursively'

We have this big matrix of letters with no obvious starting point. You should start by guessing or just randomly trying out different things to use as (x,y) indices into the matrix of letters.

You can tell if your index-method is working if it starts to produce something recognizable. Generally 'recognizable' might mean an english word, or an anagram of an english word. Puzzle on TMT have only been 2 or 3 levels deep so far - we don't have to go through too many levels of cipher before we find english clues.

Not a lot to go on...
The matrix seems to allow (want?) 12 letters.
And the Rorschach background suggests mirroring something.

@jkm: is the method logical? I mean is there something on the page that if we "see" it, the method will make be apparent? Also is any intimate knowledge of the Master Theorem necessary/useful?

Rogi, the background is the fractal generated by the Mandelbrot set, just a nod to the recursion theme I would think, not a clue. Also probably not a clue, but clicking on the bottom left hand square makes the imput box clear and freeze. I've got nothing on this seal yet.

Side note, are people really just that good that they are able to solve the main theorems in under two minutes? I couldn't even carefully read through the text of this last one in that amount of time. Perhaps everyone's honest but it wouldn't be hard to cheat as is.
get a second account-> immediately look at the hints-> post answer to main account.

Well I got the three clue boxes by using the grid, but I don't know what it wants for the answer! Grrr....

recursion puzzle

Delusional, I think it is a little hard to discover the method, but it makes perfect sense in retrospect. This was the hardest puzzle for me so far. You should also think carefully about what you're being given to start with, and what exactly changes when you do something. It is a good catch to notice that
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
only 12 letters fit in that box before it resets to blank again.

I spent 30 minutes studying the Master Theorem wikipedia page looking for clues, but you don't need to understand any of the math. Reading a description of the master theorem is a little useful, but it also can throw you off track. It make perfect sense in retrospect.

Also, don't necessarily focus too hard on finding recursion at first. I spent a long time searching for recursive patterns and loops in the text and got nowhere.

All the clues/information we're given on the puzzle page fit in to the solution.

I've been wondering about the super fast solvers too. I have only been on the site for the last two theorems. They took me 20-30 minutes each, and I don't use any hints. I think that some (most?) of the fast solvers are just really awesome, but I wonder about someone logging out, looking at the hints, and then solving quickly. I'm going to keep training the honest way. I'll get faster and faster even if I don't get higher than 100 points for it.

Had a real "D'Oh" moment with the Mandelbrot, Del. Dunce
I'm reduced to random clicking on the grid; Hoping I'll get lucky and SOMETHING will happen as all of my attempts at logical analysis have failed. Definitely don't see any other ways to try and plug in values. Just not on the same wavelength as the creator, at all, I guess.

Okay I got the 3 boxes (probably the "wrong" way, but who cares). Now I'm just throwing random answers at the question it is asking me and it is just getting frustrating because I have no idea what he is looking for.

Also, I would love to know what the correct way of getting the 3 boxes was, because obviously, me and this M guy are just not seeing eye to eye.

Finally found the "right" way to get to the 3 boxes.
My brain is definitely wired differently that the creator's.
Still no progress answering the question.

Rogi, can you give a hint as to how you're supposed to get any of the clue boxes? I've been trying dozens of strategies for hours on end but I've made zero progress. All the other seals and theorems were pretty easy but I'm close to giving up on this one...
