On one hand...
Heh, I don't know about that. It was pretty weird all along, what with serial and/or mass murderers and mysterious diasappearances linked to echos of energy discharges reverberating back through time. Really, we are just talking about another dimension of reality... or alternate reality. No weirder that us pretending the characters are real in a lot of ways.

On the other hand...
Moorcocks world (and particularly Baron Kalan of Vitall) is pretty freaky.

Either way, I am quite enjoying this Smile

Ya think, Zobot Laughing After the necessary wacky intros we had this FB convo. For clarity, some gals show leg on FB, me...ear atm.

Kalan Vitall on FB wrote:
Amandel van Bakall of Hollandia, I don't recognize the name. Where is your mask? To see bare flesh how ugly it must be for you. My researches continue in finding the location of Count Brass can you help with that? .

Amandel van Bakalt replied: Keeping one exposed ear low to the ground to divine the resonances of those stirring in Garathorm has proven useful in my journeys and profession. Sir, I believe I have heard a reflection of the Count or his welp recently here.

Likely I will assist you and the name is van Bakalt, not Bakall, Baron. My imbibing the blue powders to highlight his footsteps is draining. Where did your own research last place the Count? .

Then Baron Kalan of Vitall answered: You intrigue me dear Lady, Castle Brass once sat in Kamarg. Which is across the Silver Bridge and to the south in the town of Aigues-Mortes. The Count and his friends are gone from there using an ancient science that surely does not belong to such upstarts. I believe they moved to another world where even now they plot to destroy our great empire.

I have but to discover the correct frequency that which their machine exists in and I can shatter it. Bringing them back. It is only a matter of time.

Supah FB find AUZ! Know AUZ doesn't like mailing the IGs tho last time we had a charming villian who gave us all good intel.

Zobot, reckon no one was until we read the links to his mythos on the prev. page. Am winging it & all a dither now waiting Laughing

Amandel van Bakalt wrote:
A resonating frequency....how delightful, Sir. My ear actually tingled ....I can not travel directly to that part of that world 'tho a trusted knight equipped with my tuning fork can enable me to hear much with caution. Since the blue powders are contraband here I may be sending him there soon.

Then Kalan Vitall replied: The Empire controls all, the only danger is to people who seek to oppose us. I have another source that claims to have a breakthrough for my researches, I found it odd that two such claims appear at once.

However you do not seem suspect, my researches put the Castle not in Kamarg but here in Granbetan in the northern wilds. The exact location is not clear yet. Perhaps you can help.

Prepare to receive a token..

For never having read the books, you're pretty good, Amandal! Nice deception.

Can someone repost a hyperlink to the facebook page? The hyperlink given on the last page is incomplete and not cellphone friendly.

That links to his FB for me, Zobot. The "token" is in part a PW protected 7z titled "1" which uF won't allow as an attachment...
The map is the London Circle line. Will begin whacking in stops when RL permits. All advise appreciated, esp. Bellerophon.

ETA: What I'm gonna do is forward Vitall's email to Louise & ask her to add it to her Kat Case file directory for us all.

New email stuff:

me to Wallace wrote:
Hi again,

I have heard you are not having much luck with the Land Registry, but we have received further information from the late F.P Sun. He explains that some research Max Drum was performing (regarding Pantheistic Multi-Person Solipsism) went rather pear-shaped, and that the remaining three of the Corcas guys (Dwight Sunderland, Johnny Howard, and Dennis Stern) have vanished. Max still exists, but has been split between this world and an alternate (fantasy from our perspective) reality as Baron Kalan of Vitall.

Several of us are trying to get information from him regarding access codes to the underground Corcas lab, so that we can attempt to prevent the tragedy F.P. Sun gave his life to let us know about, but this really relies on you (or your contacts) finding out where the lab is.

Please follow up your contact and see if there has been any progress.

Thanks
Reesylou

And his reply
Wallace to me in email wrote:

Wow! And I thought my previous case a little bit off the charts.

Alternate Realities and all this from a single murder, sounds a little bit far-fetched but then I could of said the same thing about the last case.

The Land Registry is a complete bust, Louise looked as well. Are you sure that the other three have vanished, do you know when this happened?

I may have to resort to entering the zone.

Wallace.

By the way... I am the "other person claiming to have breakthroughs" for the Baron's research, in case you are wondering. Like Amandel, I won't post the initial "pleasantries", but got the following describing a sukodu problem. (I claimed to be part of the Order of the Ferret... with a dual role of Lab techs to Kalan's Serpents and explorers/seekers of lost technology - to either return it to Granbretan or destroy it)
Me in email to the Baron wrote:

With respect, dear Baron,

I understand that you have many paths of research currently under way, but many of those are entrusted to your acolytes with you overseeing their work. The research I speak of concerns matters most dear to your heart - the research you conduct relating to the traversal of space.

As to who I am - it is expected that you are not familliar with my name, since I spend much of my time outside the borders of Granbretan. My Grand Constable is Duke Taragorm of Hobern, and with that you should not need to ask further to which Order I belong, nor doubt that I may have information that could assist you.

I believe the discovery I have made could lead to a major breakthrough in your research, but would like to meet with you to discuss it further. Being of such a sensitive nature, you can understand that I would not wish to do so in a public place. As a display of trust and honour, I am willing to suggest that this meeting place be in your own most secret laboratory. There is no need to inform me of its location - I have my sources. If you are interested in what I have to offer, simply provide me with a time and the access code to your laboratory and I will meet you there.

With deepest regards
Ariella of Londra

And his reply - describing Sudoku
The Baron in an email wrote:

Ariella (Do have no title?),

That will depend upon what type of space you are talking about.

You risk my anger mentioning Taragorm, however arrogant you are, maybe you have stumbled upon some answers. I do not keep secret laboratories that is my brother's forte.

And even if I did I would definitely not give its location and codes to anyone, you could be an assassin sent by Taragorm.

I will give you a chance however, what do you know of single digits adding up to 45, each in a series of 9 digits creating a 81 celled grid. I have seen this puzzle in ancient texts, some in Taragorm's possession. Perhaps you hold the key, do you?

Baron Kalan of Vitall.

A very interesting email, so I responded:
my rather arrogant email back wrote:

My dear Baron,

What an interesting response. Of course I have a title, but you must understand - as I explained in my first missive to you - it is dangerous for me to approach you with this offer, and I feared our correspondence being observed. Since you have deigned to continue our conversation, it is only proper and fair that I introduce myself fully. I am Lady Ariella del Rosa of Londra, Constable of the Order of the Ferret.

Interesting that you claim to not keep secret laboratories, when it is common knowledge that the Sepert Order hides much from the Mantis, and others. As I said, I have sources who know the locations of your researches, so I guess in that regard you do tell the truth - they are not really secret if I (through others) know where they are.

If I were an agent sent to assassinate you, I would not attempt to gain your trust and seek legitimate entry into a place controlled by you, nor offer you knowledge at the risk of my own life. If I were planning to assassinate you, then I would just make the attempt. However, assassination is not my strength - I am no Cat.

I believe you would be well aware of some of the research my Grand Constable has undertaken, or had undertaken before Brass killed him (has that happened yet, or in fact here in this reality? - I get so confused with the travel I do). I have my own grudge against Brass, as do you. I have a device that I believe will assist your most dear research as I mentioned - your research regarding finding Brass.

Although I do not know exactly where he is, the knowledge I have chosen to offer you will enable you to find him. I offer the knowledge of how to create controlled Conjunctions at will. Surely I do not need to spell out what that may mean for you.

Regarding your... diversion... I am quite familiar with the puzzles you mention. They originate in a country at the far side of Asiacommunista, where they are regularly posed and solved as a mental exercise. Over the time I have spent travelling in the area I have become quite proficient at them. It is difficult to translate the name the local people refer to them by, but it roughly translates as Number Place or Single Number. Do you have a particular instance of the puzzle that is causing you grief?

Yours
Lady Ariella del Rosa of Londra

Can't wait to get the zip... perhaps you could email it? - I'll PM my address.
Regarding Bellerophon:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellerophon which tells of Bellerophon taming the Pegasus, amongst other things.

A search for "London Underground Bellerophon" led to an image of Bellerophon taming the Pegasus at Broadgate. The sculpture was completed in 1966 and was installed at Columbia University, New York City, in 1977. There is no mention of how or when it got to Broadgate... but it is there now.

Looking for Broadgate led to various places near Liverpool St Station... the most interesting being:
http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/topics/Broadgate_Tower built over the top of the station.

I hope we don't need to visit there, since no-one actually in London seems to be playing... perhaps we can ask Wallace to go if needed.

Amandel: You could just rename the file extension to, e.g. "*.txt" and attaching it. We can download it and rename it again. This should work.

BTW. Do we have a chat?

So wish it had worked when I tried that, AUZ. Maybe b/c it's PW protected uF views it only as a 7z extension. Sad

Emailed Louise asking her to please share the 7z called "1" which is the N.Y.City train nbr. to Columbia U. where the large version (23 ton..Yikes!) of "Bellerphon Taming Pegasus" is located. Reckon the Broadgate Estate one is a scaled version. .

Have tried both with no joy as the PW. Am heading to Sleepyville. If Lu hasn't shared this by tomorrow a.m. I'll email it to all who wish 'tho I rarely share my email addresses, even here. An IRC chat also sounds Cool

Oh no. IRC is Sad for me. The last few ARGs thta moved to IRC ended up moving on without me as I wasn't on at the same time as everyone else. I would hate that to happen here too.
