Looks like John Ford.

I will guess FORT APACHE.

Nope. 1876 is too early.
Great movie and great guess, though.
You got the Director, male Lead and vista filming locations all right in the first guess. This one's not part of the cavalry trilogy, though.

I'll just post one from near the end since this one isn't going to last long.

I'll go with Time Bandits. You'd think there'd be more info out there about converted Dutch whalers, complete with gallows.

Both are wrong but watching this movie I had the same associations. It definitely has that Gilliam feel to it at moments but not as inventive as his movies can be.

I was reminded of the old Sinbad adventures we watched on the television on Sunday afternoons. I went searching for a match but found very few images, and then lost myself in this trailer for "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad". Ahh, the classics.

I was rewatching these Harryhausen movies with my 6 year old. Man they keep being inspiring. The stuff that dreams are made off....or it is from? ;^)

But as to the answer... not totally wrong. I kinda expected 'instant' recognition of the actor in the last photo.
