Nice find!

So the link in on this map are the markers from the "Ancient and Honorable Order of Clampus E Vitus". The first at Lil' Ale Inn found by BDevall here http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=31918 and the one above at Rachel.

Unsurprisingly both reference mines:
- Groom Mining District: 1870-1880ish; 1915-1919
- Tempuite Tungsten Mine (1937-) 1974-1988

Didn't Mysterio say he was too old to go after this stuff?? Maybe he's send Josh to the abdandoned Mines who's gonna take Sarah (who just happens to have worked for a Mining company, and whose dad still does) Wink

If they were confirmed to be the golden ratio, then that be the key.

How is the golden ration applicable to the comic?

Well - if it's the golden ratio (which a lot of people think it is) maybe the numbers could be used to point to page, word and/or letter in the comic somehow. There were a lot of ideas floating around about the notes - golden ratio, map coordinates that someone said led to HAARP in Alaska, phone number, touch pad tones that spell a word, frequency #s that mean something. I don't know. Confused

Like Xeno said - how, why, and especially IF expcnv is connected to Moby Dick (or anything else) escapes me.

Chainsaw - We know that Sarah is the one who broke into Josh's apartment. We think Josh's dad is the man pushing the cart of rocks (or whatever) around at the lab. We don't know who 'mysterio' is. We don't know what the DEVICE is or if there is any meaning to the apparently blank RSOO01 file. We really don't know who Josh is, where he lives or what he does. And will RP be connected to the Josh story in some way other than the old newspaper being on the PDP-11?
I realize we may never get answers to some of these questions.

Chad - the picture behind the Rachel sign is interesting.

And multi - yep - there's E Clampus Vitus again...

EDIT:
Took a closer look at the pic. Doesn't the circled part look like the 3 dots in the RP comic that gimmypig pointed out? (We see what we want to Razz .)

Regarding E Calmpus Vitus found on one of the signs Multi zoomed in on, Wikipedia states:

"The Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus (ECV) is a fraternal organization dedicated to the study and preservation of Western Heritage, especially the history of the Mother Lode and gold mining regions of the area. There are chapters in California, Nevada and other western states. Members call themselves "Clampers." The organization's name is in Dog Latin, and has no known meaning; even the spelling is disputed, sometimes appearing as "Clampus", "Clampsus", or "Clampsis". The motto of the Order, Credo Quia Absurdum, is generally understood as meaning "I believe it because it is absurd."

That phrase seems right down JJ's alley! Wink

tungsten

I might get a fishy for this but Rachel mv had a tungsten mine.

The unalloyed elemental form is used mainly in electrical applications. Tungsten's many alloys have numerous applications, most notably in incandescent light bulb filaments, X-ray tubes (as both the filament and target), and superalloys. Tungsten's hardness and high density give it military applications in penetrating projectiles. Tungsten compounds are most often used industrially as catalysts.

Tungsten is the only metal from the third transition series that is known to occur in biomolecules, where it is used in a few species of bacteria. It is the heaviest element known to be used by any living organism. However, tungsten interferes with molybdenum and copper metabolism, and is somewhat toxic to animal life.[6][7]

Hah, I suddenly remembered a scene from The Simpsons when they are in an ikea store, and this alien wrench comes by and tells Bart that it need tungsten to live. Laughing

04.2

I hope nobody ever said this before... Ok go ahead and trout me then.

I find it disturbing that 04.2 appears on the Nevada map. I have been thinking about why the leading zero is there. I think it must be intentional and therefore has some meaning. In other words, it cant be a numeric value but just a series of digits.

So then what is it?

Dewey decimal numbers?
A date? Apr 2 seems possible.

Can anyone else think of other common values that customarily require a leading zero?

Of course there is always the possibility that we have all read these digits wrong anyway and we are all chasing our tails... Embarassed

What has me thinking is the wording M used in the chat..

He says I will post again and between the comic and my notes you should be able to DECODE it now..

implying that there is indeed a code in these maps and letters that needs decoding.
Well, I wouldnt call the drawings on the map codes, so the only other thing that could be a code is indeed the numbers we cant decode yet..
Question is, which part of the comic and what notes?

The real question is. Do we have the correct comic? (Moby Dick No. 5)
D12 was also found to be Rip Van Winkle. Has anyone found it?
*edit* I just did lol http://www.ladue63.com/library/Classics%20Illustrated%20v1%20012-Rip%20Van%20Winkle/index.html

So... a tungsten based lifeform.. could be like a silicon based life form... wonder what communicating with that would be like....

hmmm...

decode

I read Mysterios note again. What bothers me is that he says now with the comic and my notes you should be able to decode IT now. Now my question is, WHAT! I hate being a third party when I can't even be a snoop. What is he decoding? The PDP conversations? The three pages of cryptic clues as to when to check into the STIES site? Good Greef!!!!!! Dunno Bang Head Dunce Drool Cursing ARG

There I believe that I have expressed my frustration enough! Cool

Tungsten is also used in wedding bands. I know because I have one. It is impossible to scratch. I have literally dragged on a brick walls while walking by and...nothing.

I have been told that it is impossible to size the ring also. You have to melt it down and reform.
I doubt there will be anything to do with the properties of Tungsten but I am here for experiments if needed..as long as it does not involve destroying my wedding band.
