I believe I saw something which implied an April launch (but of course, i was peeking behind a curtain at the time), I'll see if I can recreate the search path that gave me that impression...

You were thinking the America 2049 site

http://america2049.com/

That has a countdown...obviously not to 2049!

I guess the linked in page was some kind of a teaser to generate hype. It may not be a full game, just a movie release or something? You can tell some of the websites are still using placeholders. I don't know why they dropped the LinkedIn add if they were still using placeholders Question

Oh, that, plus the trailer video says "Coming April 2010". I get the feeling that it is promoting the launch of whatever we're going to participate in, rather than there being an ARG now leading up to the launch of a final product on that date. Otherwise, they're just setting up "extended 360-degree" sites (or whatever they're called) to flesh out the universe of a passive form of entertainment.

Argnet article

Hey guys, some out-of-game information if you want it:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I wrote an article for Argnet that goes into a bit more detail about what America 2049 is going to be (having been in touch with the publicist). http://www.argn.com/2011/03/a_little_taste_of_serennaide_from_america_2049/ The publicist hinted there's a lot more she couldn't reveal yet, that a press release will be out at a later date.

Thanks to you all for starting the discussion here, I probably wouldn't have known about the LinkedIn trailhead, names of the actors, etc, if it weren't for you working it out and posting here.

Hey, I skipped the Escapist trailer because I thought it was a video game. The ARG-Net article led me to sign up. So, thanks, Luci! Very Happy

Found a little tidbit. On the councilonamericanheritage.com Site
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Type "classified" in the search box. There are two dossiers there. One for Rachel Ng, creator of smrttid, another for Bonnie Williams, with little info...

ETA1
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
An even better search is "Dossier".

Hmm. Galleries going back to 2006? OOG IMHO.

Methinks this is going to need a wiki real quick...

Glad you found your way here Smile Yeah, it's funny 'cause I've just googled America 2049 today (after initially doing it 2 weeks ago when there was just about nothing listing) and can see that a teaser press release must have gone out to standard video game websites and some people commenting are bagging it for not having game shots or seeming too similar in idea to existing computer game (not realising it's an ARG). On the other hand, what with the 'this is not a game' notions of ARGs, putting out a press release with specifics can ruffle hard-core arg players... Makes me wonder what the best way is to promote an ARG to get the maximum numbers playing while correctly navigating expectations of different gamer groups... food for thought for any puppetmaster-to-be Smile

Nice find! I wonder what other useful words will uncover...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Try "CAH" in the search, and then scroll through "previous" entries as only 5 results come up at a time. Huge amount of information. Various characters, 'historical' events, a world map showing the plague zones, types of crimes (such as 'cultural felony') and 'treatments' that have come out of this society, political divides, etc

Operation Anomie has certainly piqued my interest. Anomie is a sociological term that basically means "without social norms" or without normalcy, but it literally translates into "without law". Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Something in SF would be amazing! I might actually be able to attend.

Tempted... And yeah, lots of links. I like linear starts Razz If I start one, are there people who will volunteer to help keep it updated? It launches April 4, so that gives a week to get it populated and helpful...
