1. 9:55a: Rt. 110, Farmingdale
Strifey aced it.

2. 10:17a: Rt. 347, Nesconset.
Right outside a Dunkin' Donuts. I aced it.

Morning set - 2/2

3. 3:41p: Rt. 110, just N. of Rt. 47, Farmingdale.
Right outside a Burger King. I aced it and got a live call. I will post the results of that in the Interaction thread - it's a good story.

4. 3:53p: Not attempted. It was theorized in the New York thread that the coordinates are way off, and the phone is actually in Adelphi.


5. 3:57p: Vanderbilt Pkwy, Huntington Station. Not attempted.

3p-4p set - 1/3

6. 4:23p: Whitney Pond, Manhasset. Not attempted. I had to rush home to deliver my passphrase - which achieved an Axon Spike.

7. 4:59p: S. Oyster Bay Rd, Syosset. Failed. Based on the coordinates, I thought for sure this would be the phone inside the library, by the water fountain. In my haste to get here, I forgot my cell phone. I drank a lot of water, but the phone never rang. I tried to pick it up about 30 seconds after 4:59, but heard just a dial tone. There's another phone outside the library. Maybe next time, but I'll go for a more likely candidate over this one.

4p-5p set - 0/2

8. 5:17p: Northern Blvd, Lake Success. As I said, a sure thing. Siege agreed to get this one in chat, and he got a live call, making crew, for his efforts. Nice work!

9. 5:47p: Jericho Tpke, Commack. Between Mayfair Terrace and Kings Park Rd. Strifey agreed to get this one in chat, allowing me to pick up my wife from work in a relatively timely fashion. He nailed it.

5p-6p - 2/2

10. 6:53p: Little Neck Rd, West Babylon. Between Manhattan and Sheffield Ave. Failed. I thought this would be a sure thing for me, but it turned out I had to drop my wife off at her other job instead of at home. That left a much farther drive, and in my rush, I didn't check my directions very closely. Thus, I got lost and missed the axon. I found my way, though, and found what I am sure is the phone bank in question. They are right outside the 7-11, although I could not test them since I did not have my cell phone. If this appears again, especially nice and late like this (thank you PMs!), I will surely hit this.

Despite all of us working day jobs, we hit 50% - pretty good considering there were 3 of us to cover 10 axons. For the first time, we have begun to coordinate. Next week, assuming similar conditions, we will be more coordinated, and hopefully get Strifey a position on the Crew as well. With all 3 of us as crewmembers, we might have to change our name from Team Long Island to the Long Island Squadron.

I can hit the two 110 axons easily. Commack isn't gonna happen. Not hanging around here till 7:10 just to answer a phone, and then drive 45 minutes home Im not that hardcore.

12:01 South Farmingdale Rt.110 - "about a quarter mile south of the airport on 110 going south. Park at Starbucks, cross the street, phones about 100 feet south of the bus stop right off the road. Very easy."

12:14 Nesconset Dunkin Donuts on 347 - I took the LIE to exit 57, made a left on 454, then a right on 347 [which was stupid. I should have just taken the Northern State Pkwy to the end, which IS 347]. The Dunkin Donuts is just past Rt. 16.
Axon confirmed.

4:57 South Farmingdale Rt.110 Burger King - Just north of Rt. 47 on 110 (which is just north of the Southern State Pkwy), on the southbound side of the street, in front of Burger King.
Axon confirmed - live call last week.

5:05 Garden City - Adelphi? Possible phones from Payphone Directory:

This axon has never gone hot, because the coordinates point to the train station, which didn't work, nor did the phone on the intersection of South & Nassau Blvd.

5:09 South Huntington - This is on Vanderbilt Pkwy just west of 231. The coordinates point to the Half Hollow Hills library on the north side of the street. I checked it out yesterday - there are 2 payphones in the basement right next to each other.
This axon has never been attempted (as far as I know) - but I hope to be the first tomorrow.

5:41 Manhasset, Whitney Lake - Take LIE exit 33 and make a right on Community Dr. Go up a mile and then make a right on Community Dr. E. Payphone should be near the end of the street, on the left, between the street and the lake.

6:31 Syosset (South Oyster Bay Rd) - The coordinates point to the library on the northbound side of the street just north of the LIE (exit 43). There's a payphone outside the library and one inside. I tried the one inside last time and it didn't work. I'll try the outside one this week, I guess.

6:41 Lake Success, Northern Blvd (Gas Station) - LIE exit 33, make a right on Lakeville Rd, make a left on to Northern Blvd. Axon is in front of the gas station between Iris Rd and Aster Ln.
Axon confirmed - live call last week.

7:10 Commack (Jericho Tpke) - Less than a mile east of the Sunken Meadow Pkwy, exit 3E. Between Mayfair Terrace and Kings Park Rd., on the north side of the street. Strifey hit this one - hey Strifey, where did you find the payphone here?

7:54 West Babylon, Little Neck Rd. (7-11) - Take Sunrise Hwy exit 38 to Little Neck Rd. Go North on Little Neck Rd. The 7-11 is a few blocks up between Manhattan Ave. and Sheffield Ave. on the east side of the street. There are 2 payphones in front, by the street.
Axon has never been attempted, because I was running late last week. This week I will be ready.

The big news for the week - Our "sure thing" axon on Northern Blvd. is GONE. WHY????

Maybe they removed it because of the horrible traffic on the LIE getting to it. It really is in a horrible traffic spot and for the last 2 weeks at rush hour.

I don't plan on taking off from work next week. I'll put up a follow-up post with what I plan to hit.

I have a job appointment at 530, and I'm wary of taking the phone call at 512 then having to get down the 110. But I'll see what I can do.
