I feel bad for the kid.

Sure he was an ass to J, but thats probably because he expected noone to notice his one little tweet. Having J totally call him out in front of all the people that follow his twitter makes it look even worse.

And yea whoever said hes a "HERP DERP THIS IS FAKE AND HERES WHY" is probably correct.

What everyone fails to understand is that the time in-game, is the not the same time out-of-game.

For instance, when Jay was leaving the hotel, they planned on leaving that night. Everyone and their mom was all "WHY DID HE STAY ANOTHER WEEK AND NOT TELL US, HE WAS LEAVING THAT NIGHT! HERP DERP ETC."

Another example being the "sllee pno.w" + 2 days of no response on Twitter. Troy has to film the videos, edit them, and upload them. What was two days in real life, may have only been a few hours in-game.

For all we know, in-game, he could have been at the tower for twenty minutes or twenty hours. You kind of have to take some initiative to assume how time passes in-game.

tl;dr - Time passes differently in-game than OOG.

No, I think in-game, the time is the same as in reality. Dates in-game correspond to real life dates. You're right about Troy having to edit and upload the videos, but in-game, Jay is doing that too.

I'm not saying the dates don't match. I'm saying time in-game moves at a different speed than OOG.

Help me out here? These statements seem irreconcilable to me.

There's no real reason not to think that J did leave the hotel the night he said he would, and it simply took him a week to find a safe hiding spot so he could upload the footage of what happened when he left. It's not that time passes differently within the game, it's that J being constantly on the run keeps him from uploading footage right after it's filmed most of the time.

I agree with Salty.
Marble Hornets is a real-time somewhat interactive video series on the internet. It has never been implied in the slightest that time moves differently inside Marble Hornets except when it goes from day to night really fast in Entry #23, and that was under special circumstances.

There's also the fact that updates happen at plausible times with understandable intervals given the situation Jay is in. It is implied that Jay is going to go talk to Jessica directly after uploading #32, and he has no reason not to. It is implied that the events in #33 happen directly after those in #32, but why then would they be uploaded so far apart? Because Jay uploaded #32, then started filming #33, then got attacked. Even though it's happened a few times, this was the first time Masky/Tim came to the place where Jay was staying while Jay was conscious-- This might just be a shock to Jay. Maybe he needed some time to himself to sort things out.

It's perfectly normal for there to be a gap between the entries: Jay has to find a new safe place to stay and internet access, among other things. There is no evidence of different rates of time flow between our universe and the Marble Hornets one.

OOG, I suspect that 32 and 33 were filmed at the same time anyway, it would ping my weird-dar if they didn't do those shots back to back, they both were relatively simple so they probably weren't as time consuming as most, and there's no evidence of time passage or noticeable inconsistencies in room setup. The only reason I can think of that they might not have is if Tim had a scheduling conflict during 32.

There is one inconsistency, the door is closed in 33, while J said to leave it open in 32. Still, this could just as easily be explained by Jessica wanting to change clothes or something.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it takes place in real time, given that dates were important leading into Entry 26 ( The date of entry 26 being texted to him, etc. )

Thousanth post in this topic, woo.

No, the door is open on Jessica's side.

And the in-game time is absolutely the same as out-of-game time. What the hell?

This. Dear <deity>. This. I agree with this. It's the logic I've been using all along.

Time moves the same speed, but we're not seeing things in real time.
We are observers. We see the videos after they've happened. This is why there's always a bit of discontinuity between what J says when he uploads something, and when we actually receive it. (32 and 33, for example.)

It was closed on J's side then. Either way, easily explained.

But didn't we go through a whole thing that Jay wanted her to leave her door open?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think we came to the conclusion that The Operator can teleport into rooms if the doors are closed, but if they're open, he must physically walk through, which is also possibly evidenced by Entry #14.

I don't think there's a compulsion, Slenderman's teleporting reminds me a lot of flatworld. He just moves through an extra dimension, just like it's a pain for us to freely travel in 3 dimensions (we need specialized equipment like planes, lifts, submarines, winches etc to have a good range of motion) it may be a PITA for the Operator to move through the 4th. So it may just be EASIER to go through the door, so he does when it's open.
