One thing that has always bugged me about the Groom Lake/Area 51/Dreamland photos is the "face" as I like to call it. Easily seen on slides 20-21 of the above post. If you follow the triangle DUE WEST over the mountain range there is an X drawn in the sand and roads leading to/from it. Does X mark the spot?
Sidenote: Are there new buildings in Area 51?

I've seen this config (the face) before at other DOD installations and they are often used for ordinance and other highly explosive material. They are usually dug deep with a metal quonset hut placed over them before pouring concrete and covering with earth.

The "x" could be an emergency landing field for smaller craft, but the way the plants have not grown back around it bodes that it may be sitting over an underground facility. Wink
