Yeah I could be wrong but I don't think there's anything encoded in that data other than the bleeps themselves. There could be something hidden in the noise but it's nowhere near enough for a digital image format.

well, worth a shot.
i havent actually heard the tones, so it was really just stabbing in the dark. hopefully this gets figured out, that tid bit of clue has been floating around for a while now with no real progress, intersting to think how it fits into the scheme of things.

I'd like to know what it means too, it's a strange thing to put out there if it doesn't link to anything else.

If you mess around on the Rocket Poppeteers site the control panel has buttons that make beeps.
I've always thought that those beeps from josh's communication might unlock something on the RP site.

Had an idea, and this stems from a pervious arg, as i havent really seen any other developments on this topid here we go;
I know in and arg for PORTAL2 from the game dev valve, it was set a every simaler way to this one where people could look at printouts from a simulator
also in this arg, the original game was incorperated where ingame radios sounds changed, and if you carried each radio to the end of each stage a new endgame cinematic played
Some one had the bright idea to anylize the random noise visually, with SStv this led to creation of a number images that reviled a clue
aka, could these tones in this arg MAKE and image through SSTV or another sound to image anyalyses , and just what kind of tone is it?
here is the link to the portal 2 arg page, if somone wanted to look into this, im too lazy, it had just sparked an idea
http://portalwiki.net/index.php/SSTV_Pictures
haent seen anything like this suggested yet, so dont hurt me if it has
I have no previous experience of SStv but I downloaded a SStv program and played the sound file through it just out of curiosity. It didn't produce a hidden image. The sound to short and not complex enough.
Good suggestion though.

Nah, good idea. We haven't really found any decent explanation for it beyond the golden ratio.

I did miss this post.. but I have been thinking about speed of light theories lately.
Just making sure that this file..this sound file isn't speed up really really fast?
I don't really know anything about sound files myself.. but i know SSTV is scanner type.. rapid beats..
And when I look at this file it does seem to have extreme wave form variences when slowed..
I dunno ..I'm just grabbing straws here..
sorry..jane

Don't those tones sound like the piano score in the new trailer? Thats what I think.

Yes you might have something there, although I can't see an exact match right now.

I used Audacity to play the sounds side by side. Didn't sound right. Reversed expcnv and changed the tempo by 1.618. Sounds pretty close but not conclusive. A theory of mine goes to the scene with the cube darting through the wall. What if the kids play that series of tones, i.e. music box, song etc, and it "wakes up"? Just a thought

Just another thought:
It's (just) a recording of the cube emiting sound. Saying "Hello there, I am intelligent. I know of the Golden Ratio." Period.
Most boring for the game but most obvious for the overall state.

Could be, but there's too many coincidences. I'm starting to believe more and more that it might be the same as the piano/music box music in the trailer, which someone figured out before me. Incidentally, the tones in the trailer sound off at each keyframe.
Paramount Logo
Amblin Logo
Bad Robot Logo
except there are 2 tones where they crane down on the town plays without cutting.
Then 2 more tones when they cut between the boys riding their bikes.
Anyone more musically inclined that can look into this? Do the notes match expcnv at all?
