Same here.
As for the parachute, it was an event planned with the SO conference; The wind was too high that night, the performers ( with Boxleitner ) were aware of that and it broke the pacing when the chopper could not reach the drop point in time ( during the awkward silence, Boxleitner said something like " I knew it " ).
Anyway, my theorie was that the campaign begun to cost way too much to Disney's taste, so they cut off a big part of the budget. 42E then had to come up with what to do with a limited budget.
The whole Encom's intranet definitively felt stopped in a weird way.
On Zack's message " we're gonna go silence for a few weeks now ", it is mentionned " huge software companies to keep honest ", which hinted that they still thought that they were gonna follow their scenario no matter what.
Too bad - but I still had a blast doing that.

hmmm... interesting theory, I for one jumped on right after SDcomiccon2010, so I saw flynn's arcade, and got in on the coaster codes, but missed eth scavenger hunt entirely. I then eagerly watched the facebook page, and flynn lives, and twitter, while nothing happened until October lol. So for me the ARG, was months of looking up old posts and re-doing solved puzzles, followed by 3 months of lots of fun activity. from my point of view it was great, but again I could not really compare the second half to the first.

Up until about 10 minutes ago, I totally agreed with your well supported beliefs that Disney pulled funding. I'm not saying I know the guy, but from the few brief times that I've met and talked with Joseph Kosinski, I'm starting to realize that he may have sat down with Susan and created the SF Encom press conference idea for the sole purpose of using it on the DVD. Then 42 came up with the entire network intranet to support it and their gaming. So once the show was over there was simply no need for it; they just let it go.
My question is, why didn't Sam use the 89 parachute in the movie?

I'm guessing the parachute part was to help establish he was a basejumper and this wasn't his first time having to ditch a chute.

Interesting theory....but if that is so, then that would mean that 42 had a *longer* break between things planned, or perhaps there were only events planned around SDCC?

Didn't know where else to post this, but wasn't the last swag item that Flynn Lives sent out was the Metal Flynn Lives pin?
I never got mine, but oddly enough, i received one in the mail a couple days ago...
Did anyone else miss out and get one recently?

What was the postmark on it? They may have accidentally sent out doubles at the end and one got stuck in the mail for a while (had that happen once with a postcard)

Yup, I got mine two months after the people here started to receive their one. Thought it was because of France's poor postal quality, but it seems I wasn't alone on this.

I never got the in-game pin, for whatever reason, but I did recently receive one in the mail -- from thebruce.

There was no postmark on it, and I've almost driven myself insane trying to figure out the stamps.com numbering and barcode system. Apparently this one is one they decided not to clearly indicate the date it was printed on.. I don't know why. Stamps.com states the shipping date is in the barcode, but I can't find a reader to decode it.
If anyone really cares to do the research, I can take a photo of the stamp.
The package doesn't show signs of wear like it had been tossed around a postal office for a few months though,

Just caught up on the most recent info about "The Next Day" and the Dillinger follow-up! Man can't believe how much I missed this forum! I got goosebumps watching that video.
For those looking for Flynn Lives Pins, I still have a few left.

I'm not expecting one but it'd be cool if there was a puzzle/clues/achievement badge on the Blu Ray!
