It would explain why Jay seems so confused. "why are you telling me this? is that what we're here for...to tell spooky ghost stories?" Present day Jay, who's seen Slenderman, would probably be able to make the connection as soon as "stretched out bodies" came up.

Any chance this entry could be chronologically be for marble hornets? Jay did say alex took him location scouting. Maybe alex's weirdness is his first signs of some slendy sickness? Maybe this is the first time slendy is encountered? Anything like that?

Maybe jay doesn't remeber this day. Its happened before.

THIS. I totally believe this. J hardly remembered any of the footage recorded during the making of MarbleHornets, so it would make sense he doesn't remember it. This also explains Alexs' hairstyle.
And, J specifically says he doesn't know where it fits in with his 7 month hiatus. That sounds fishy to me...Like he brought it up to foreshadow, y'know?

This could also explain why J would go into a forest with Alex alone. And the "spooky ghost stories" remark.

EDIT: Ninja'd

Guys! We're getting close to the ark! I can feel it! Or maybe just to learning wtf some of this stuff is. (BTW: why did Jay stop filiming himself? if he hadn't than we would know what happened that faithful day of the return to the rd tower)

His latest Tweet said, that his tapes and camera are still "there" where he left them (wherever that is). Lack of camera --> no filming himself

I meant why wasn't he filming himself in the hotel room? He was taping everything else throughout his visit to creep hotel jessica world, why'd he just stop?

Crazy theory time:
Maybe the Ark has the power somehow to cure someone of Slendy-sickness? Or at least keep him at bay or stop him from stalking you?

Assuming that totheark = Masky = Tim, this might explain why totheark is so adamant about Jay leading him there. Perhaps Tim had this incurable cough/illness that noone knew the cause of until the Operator started showing up at Alex's MH shoots. Tim does some research on Alex/the Operator/whatever and then finds out about the Ark, which has curative properties. Tim decides to go after the Ark, except he doesn't know where it is. All he knows is that it's linked to the Operator somehow, who in turn is linked to Alex.

Then Jay starts posting the Entries and Tim becomes convinced that he'll lead him to Alex, who in turn will somehow lead him to the Ark. Tim dons the Mask, and the rest becomes history.

I'm still hazy what Alex has to do with it though. Though I'm thinking that while Alex and Jay know about the Operator, maybe only Tim knows about the Ark. And considering that Alex's motives seem more Operator-centric (destroying him, escaping him, serving him, whatever), a clash of interests may have ensued somehow
________

Edited to explain the safe area-convict trials dissonance:

Maybe the forest itself was blessed (probably due to the influence of the Ark), but the drawback was that it was frequented by monstrous beast like the Operator? Or even better: what if the Operator was guarding the Ark?

I've been going with the theory that there's something special about Alex due to the fact that he's never been shown couching, which has been a big symptom for slendersickness. It seems to be something big that stands out to me that it has to be of some importance. Perhaps Alex was able to discover something to fend off slendersickness...

I don't know if someone has posted this before, but I have been rewatching the MH videos, and found this.

In entry #5, you first see the red tower. He says at first it's a climbing wall, but then this happens:
Quote:
Jay: What's that tall red thing over there?
Alex: Yeah, that's like, a climbing wall or something.
Actually, I can't remember if it was a climbing wall, or if the fire department...

Source here.

The only reason this stands out to me, is the reference to lighting the trees on fire once bodies were tied to it.

Could this be somehow related? Or is it just me overreacting.

Is there an audio script for this entry? My speakers suck, and I can barely hear Alex.

Here ya go. It's the last post. Smile

Thanks.

Interesting. A back story. Sounds like Slenderman was created from one of those 200 year old criminals.

In spite of Alex's hairstyle and missing glasses, I don't think that this happens pre-Marble Hornets. Why else would they be filming themselves while walking down the trail? They're not even saying anything most of the time. At the end, Jay is panicked that the there is only one minute left on the tape. He has to change it NOW.

As for Jay's remark, I think that he's just being deliberately obtuse. That's a pretty common ploy to use when you want the other person to tip their hand.

His question also some legitimacy. Why does Alex need to lead Jay way out into the woods to tell him this story? Couldn't that have been done back at home? I'd be pretty annoyed if someone lead me on a multi-hour adventure just to tell me something they could have told me anywhere.

Not only has he included a link to Entry 38 on his Twitter, but it also appears that he found his camera and tapes.

(Apologies if this is old news)

With the mention of fire, stretching, children, and everything else hinting towards the slender man mythos, this seems like more than an unrelated story.

This. They're both acting with a sense of purpose and urgency in the entry.

NEW THEORIES! (At least I think so... I just read through and I don't think these have been mentioned yet. Otherwise break out the trout.)

First, as to Alex's sudden lack of glasses... If slendy's mind control is strong enough, he could be controlling all of Alex's movements. If that's the case glasses would be totally unnecessary-- a puppet doesn't need to see where he's going, the puppet master (or should I say operator? heh) does.

Also, for the Operator's origins... What if he was more of a supernatural justice system than a god... a force for good, not evil? The villagers could have been slendymindcontrolled to hang the prisoners in the forest because it was Slendy's domain, and he thought they deserved to be punished. Or they could have hung them there on their own, but he let it happen because he wouldn't free criminals. Eventually he got so used to death, or so obsessed with the power of choosing whether someone lives or dies, or had such a warped system of justice that he started killing on his own (the boy).

Now he's weaker, so he's not killing anymore, but he still has the power to affect people-- the prisoners died of thirst so he makes people thirsty, they probably lost consciousness/went insane at some point being tied to the trees so now he can make people blank out and lose time.

Sorry if none of that makes sense, but I thought it was interesting Smile

I just wonder why he hasn't looked through the footage of what happened the night he disapeared, and if he wasn't filming, than I'm wondering why he wasn't

I'm pretty sure that the story wasn't based on real events. My guess is that slendy stalked many of the children in the town where Alex lived. The story was just made to explain what was happening and most likely to keep people from going into the woods. The tale has some folklorish elements to it, which is why I think slenderman came first.
