I changed my thin_kinkles_playhouse transcript a little.

Also, here's the audio file. Steve, someone: I have the 7 meg .wav, if you want to reduce treble, etc. I know it sucks, and I tried my best, but it's a leetle tiny AIWA recorder, and I recorded from the tape player to the mic on my webcam.

Heh heh. Lame!

18:07 is not hot, because the phone seemingly malfunctioned. No idea if it was a recording or a live call. Details here.

is the axon at my school. I was there at the time, I answered the phone, I said the right answer 'the truth' but I wouldn't recognize it. She freaked out and started the I love bees thing. This is the second time that the answer was not accepted, I don't understand. i'll try again tomorrow. Man and we could have had them all done today too...

I mentioned that I had seen McKaskill and that he seemed alright as well. She became suspicious and claimed that we were imposters. End of call, end of story. Though it seems that it still activated the axon.

I give Kudos to Akodo Bob! Many people have suggested the idea of claiming to be someone from the real Apocalypso crew, or mentioning something from the future to try and get more information from Melissa. I belive few have been willing to try it, rather taking the safer route to a commission by just playing along.

Thanks for taking the chance Akodo Bob. Even if all we learned was not to try that again, it is information we did not have before.

Arana,

Great job to day people!

Some interesting notes about the San Francisco axons:

1. 20 axons, within a 4.5 hour window, starting at 14:30ish ending at 18:05. Normally we have little less axons, and they are spaced out through out the entire day.

2. hmrpita, ariock and Maizan were in the field today and I was in contact with them relaying codes, etc. At the end of the day none of the axons were live calls. In the last two weeks, there have been at least 3 live calls in SF each week, and there were less axons for those weeks as well. Here's hmrpita's report: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6191&start=225

Perhaps they didn't want to have Melissa talk to hmrpita just yet? Get out your tin foil hats!

EDIT-Added link to hmrpita's post.

That's not unexpected if the live calls are perfectly random. Random probability dictates that some weeks you'll get more, and others you'll get none. Or maybe they are trying to distribute live calls a little more evenly. Seattle, for example, has 19 public axons and has had only 1 live call each week.

That sounds good in theory, but the lone Macon,GA axon has had a live call for the last 3 weeks. First one was flubbed, but she called back the next week. This week surprised me, so now it's reasonable to expect it to be live again next week. But then again, my relay failed so we might get squat.

I don't know what the distribution is either.
I hit 9 axons yesterday with no live calls. I did get a live call last week, but that's the only one so far in my region.

One Atlanta location has has live calls each week until this week (though one of the calls to that location appears to have been blocked by a phone hog.)

One per week for the 5 Boise axons. Weeks 1 and 3 were in the same place, a hotel with a bank of 3 phones (though I don't remember if they were both the exact same phone), week2 was in the local Pizza Hut. I'm hoping that week 4 will be in the Kopper Kitchen as that would get the last member of Team Boise his "commission" and probably give me a better chance of actually conversing with Melissa again. [META]hint, hint Wink [/META]

Team Idaho got 2 this last week though with the addition of the axon in Coeur D'Alene being "live".

The phones are still ringing with the recordings.
I answered a 10:17 axon today (6oct) and the recipe4 page changed from "Axon Cancelled" to "Axon success"

[META]Calling all New Orleans Hunters

Hey... we've been privileged with two axons, and we should make the most of it. Grumpicus started by himself, and although he did not find the axons the first time, he eliminated various choices, so without him we would not have activated yesterday's axon (29.933628 -90.121351, located in the Student Center inside Loyola, phone # 504 866 2942)
.

The second axon (29.933361 -90.116735) is proving to be difficult to find, and we'll need all the help we can get.

I propose that all New Orleans area hunters come together for the hunt as a team!! This will also increase our chances of getting a live call or otherwise escalate our participation. We can even name ourselves the Krewe of Nola!

So to get started, here's a theory on the mistery axon:

-I got a trial subscription to www.geocode.com, a site that gives you GPS coordinates from street addresses.

-When I enter the Loyola University main address (6363 St Charles Ave), I get the exact coordinates for the Loyola student center axon.

-When I enter an address as the 6000 block of Loyola Ave (which is where mapquest points when using the corrdinates), I get very close coordinates to the mistery axon. A very close match is 6039 Loyola Ave (but as we confirmed, this is a residential street with no phones in sight).

-When I look up Loyola in www.payphone-project.com (http://www.payphone-project.com/cgi-bin/search/search.pl?query=loyola&stpos=10&stype=AND), I get 15 matches, one of which is 639 Loyola ave, which according to this database is a payphone at Bender Company Inc (whatever that is), closer to the Superdome in the CBD.

My guess is that our axon is at 639 Loyola, but the PM's made a typo when geocoding the address, sending us in the wrong direction. So we'll need bodies to cover this, as well as run around Loyola next week. Go Krewe!

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the lack of live calls this week in SF. I was simply making an observation that seemed out of the ordinary. I'm thankful that there about 20 axons a week here, and that we get the chance to have live calls. I am also thankful for being able to be totally unproductive every Tuesday at work Wink

Orange County, CA axon summary

This week in the OC
-----------------------

This week we had our first live calls in the area.

Total axons answered: 6/9

3/4 at UCI Campus [08:19 H, 08:33 H, 08:49 L, 09:31] - The one we've had since the beginning was a live call this week. Grats HitsHerMark (girlinfocus)! The missed one was found, but between Phone Jerks and live call excitement, it got missed.

2/2 at the Wax Museum [16:11 L, 16:45 H] - One of these was a live call. Grats fubarz and chulo!

1/1 at the Block [18:03 H] - No live call. This is usually the one I get, but I couldn't make it. Thanks to fubarz and chulo for subbing in for me this week!

Other missed axons:

0/1 at The Promenade [17:05] - We know which phone this is. It's broken. We've stopped checking.

0/2 at Mission Viejo [17:33, 17:37] - Still can't find these. The payphone directory has been updated, though, so maybe we'll have some luck next week.

The end.

Edit: Added times and Live/Hot flags. And because I'm anal.
