When I get off at the Cecil B. Moore stop on Philadelphia's SEPTA Broad Street Line to go to class, there's a tile mural on the wall that says 'People all over the world donate organs' with a bunch of children smiling and holding hands in a circle. I used to think it was just beautiful and adorable.

Now I only think of Slenderman when I see it.

O_________O

Thanks, Marble Hornets. Razz

I was out driving yesterday and stopped in an empty parking lot to talk to fix some paperwork. It was getting dark. Out of the corner of my eye I see something black standing in the middle of the lot looking at me. It doesn't move. I thought it might have been a security guard who wanted me to leave, so I turned my head to face them and the lot is empty. I'm still the only person there.

The next day I was on a train with a friend and I told her about it. She proceeded to take an eraser and draw an operator symbol on the window and draw and arrow pointing to me and wrote in eraser: SHE IS HERE.
I love her humor.

It still creeped me out though. I haven't been by there since.

1. My friends have decided I'm going to be the Alex of our group, and I have subsequently supposedly gotten them all marked for Slenderfuck too. I showed everyone I know Marble Hornets when I first found it, and it's spread through my school. I'm notorious for being super paranoid all the time nowadays and constantly looking behind me and checking out the windows during classes. There's actually been a few times I've SHUT blinds before the class started because I was freaked out.

2. I have ridiculous amounts of terrifying dreams about Masky and Slenderman, and wake up freaked out. I've always had slight issues with insomnia/nightmares, but now all my nightmares are about Slendy and Company.

3. Yeah I catch glimpses of Slenderman and etc. out of the corners of my eyes sometimes and whip around to look and nothing's there.

It's always worst right after entries. XDDDD

Dude, get help.

All I could think of was uploading it as an MH homage. After being sure there were no Maskies lying in wait nearby... Shocked

That's so creepy! o_o Does it still do that when you try it?

Thankfully, no. I found out after some VERY close examination that there was a discrepancy in the wiring... what you see is visual sound.

This is easily done if you attach COMP wiring (Red, Blue, Green prongs) into AV wiring (Red, Yellow, White prongs), or if you use COMP wiring to connect 2 AVs, but do so inconsistently.

What made this particular distortion creepy was that you can clearly see some sort of word being formed in the bottom-right corner, and the coloring was wrong for the DVD that was supposed to be playing... Confused

After an exhausting day right after an operator entry and a lack of sleep (partially due to that entry) I was in the gym, and, out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw Slenderman wearing sports clothes and a headband. I jump from surprise, and was overcome simultaneously by the urges to laugh hysterically at his clothes and scared horribly by the fact I hadn't noticed the tall, faceless man beside me. It was just a trick of the light, I realized a second later, but the image of a Slenderman getting ready for his workout in gym clothes still cracks me up Laughing Shocked

It's getting close to finals at the university I attend, and as a result I've been incredibly sleep deprived this last week, week and a half. However, since it's getting close to finals, I've also been procrastinating to the extreme, mostly in the form of forum lurking. After many a late night and hours browsing threads, old and new alike, I've got The Operator on the brain. A bit Slendsessed.

About an hour ago I decided to set my books aside and take a quick nap to rejuvenate for the inevitable long night ahead. My roommate, who was going out for the night, came in to tell me she would be leaving soon, and that she'd knock on my door right before she left to make sure I woke up and got back to work. I laid down, and a few minutes afterward my roommate knocked on my door to let me know she was heading out. I blearily muttered a goodbye and then fell promptly back asleep.

Some time later, I woke up to the sound of knocking - four distinct taps. I mumbled something, thinking it was my roommate, but then sat up as I remembered my roommate had already left and I was alone in the apartment. Naturally, in my Slendermarked and sleep deprived mind, I immediately jumped to the conclusion that I was about to face the most painful death by tentacle induced dismemberment. Nothing of the sort happened for the few minutes I spend looking around my room, and the noise had stopped when I sat up, so I decided it would be safe to lay back down again. As soon as I did, one of my ears started ringing. I sat up again, freaking out as my ear continued to ring and my organ dismantling death became obviously more imminent.

Of course, nothing of the sort happened. I remembered that my ears ring a lot, the neighbor's plumbing regularly thumps and gurgles, and that if I hadn't already met death by Slender, it probably wasn't going to happen tonight. I went ahead and got up, and decided to post here.

But damn, was my heart pounding.
(I'm kind of a wimp)

It hasn't affected me too badly, but it has only made my fear of the dark worse. Which was pretty bad to begin with. >> I constantly fear turning the light off and looking at the faint light at the end of the hall, thinking I'm gonna see Slendy.

The night I watched all of MH I was "O.o mommy " I was terrified out of my freaking mind. xD

It's in the station where you get on/off the Northbound side. I'll try to snap a picture of it next time I take the train in (I'm taking my car tomorrow because I'm getting film equipment out... YAY FINALS!)

Give credit where credit is due. "Children", "organs", and "holding hands" [with] "Slender Man", are all from Something Awful.

Maybe they're both equally to blame, SA bringing you the gruesome stories and Marble Hornets simply infiltrated your psyche (and freaking you out).

I guess if you want to get into the nitty-gritty of it, I could thank everybody from the guy who introduced me to Marble Hornets down to the things that inspired Victor Surge to create Slender Man in the first place. MH was simply my introduction to the mythos, so I was just using it since it made most sense (and since we're on the MH forum as it is).

But yes, SA, Victor Surge, EverymanHybrid, Dave (my friend who introduced me)... you are all equally as thanked for making this mural eerie. Razz

Edit: Also, just in case it came off this way, I'm not at all ignorant of the origins of the mythos. Before I even finished watching S1 of MH all the way through last September, I read about 90% of the SA thread where Slender Man was born, up through the first posts Troy made in-character on the forum for Marble Hornets. I realize MH didn't do or invent the 'children/hand-holding' thing, I was just trying to be humorous mostly.

The first time I watched Marble Hornets, I didn't realize that the person I'm rooming with had gone out with her family.
So the silence just keeps growing and I had no idea why. Did I mention it was crazy foggy and there's A FOREST right by my current location?

Needless to say, utterly and totally terrified doesn't even begin to cut it. Rampant insomnia does not help when you begin to hallucinate Slender outside your window. So I guess MH brought back the "bogeymen" I was so afraid of in my childhood? Talented they are. I just wish it didn't scare the pants off me XD

I was walking to my girlfriend's house. It's about twenty minutes along a rural-ish street, and it was dark. I had a small maglite (two AA's) and another package I won't detail here. Oh yeah, and the batteries were dying, so the light beam was about half the size it should have been.

There's a streetlight you can see from her house. It's the only streetlight on the whole stretch.

So that's the setup.

I'm walking. I'm growing steadily more and more paranoid as I do. The flashlight's not doing much. Finally, I can see the streetlight. Which means I'm facing a heavy treeline my flashlight can't reach. Mixed blessing.

I'm about five feet from the light's edge when the streetlight shuts off.

NOPE.jpg

I sprint the rest of the way to my girlfriend's.

Quick edit: I forgot to mention, this was the same night I discovered Marble Hornets.

Shocked So ah... how many nights did you go before you actually fell asleep?
