[META] Axon Hunting Teams

I'm not sure whether it was originally Melissa's idea or the axon hunters, but she seems to want to encourage and acknowledge team work.

A few teams have names already for one reason or another (the DC crew came up with a name and a sig - see their thread)(the Goddess Team was named by Melissa)(Team Idaho/Team Boise nailed our last passphrase and axon spike).

Who are our other "teams" and do you have a team name? Post your name and members and where your axons are in this thread!

But do consult your ostensible teammates first. And if your team has subgroups, well heck give THEM names too. (I'm thinking Team Seattle may have a North Seattle subgroup, just for example.)

And let's also acknowledge that some "teams" are one guy going back to the same two axons again and again. That's cool. Indeed it's great. So give yourself a name.

Keep in mind this is not a competition - acknowledging teams is not a way to keep score, since the axon distribution would make that totally unfair. This is for recognition. And maybe a few beers after work sometime. Or sodas after school. You know what I mean.

Just to be clear. We've been doing this for seven weeks, we have a lot of active axon hunters out there. This is not intended to be "name a team first, recruit second". I was trying to acknowledge the formal and informal groupings that have developed out there to get the job done.

For example (lifted from the interaction thread):

Mad Cow wrote:

... it seems that Melissa calls us her "trusted" crew when we form groups (Team Boise, Team Goddess(?thats right isnt it?))
I think one thing we need to do before everyone try's to convince her of anything that might set her off, is to get some sort of larger organization than just a few people within a city.

Currently I am part of:
[Team Idaho]
---Ensign Cheebers
---[Team Boise] (within team Idaho)
------Lt. weephun
------Lt. Furious Jack
------Jr. Lt. Mad Cow

if anyone else is interested in "joining" team idaho or team america? send me an email and we'll get more people to start coordinating with us.
josiahpeters at gmail dot com [please no spam Razz]

[btw, weephun is the mastermind behind this operation]
he was calling me on my cell while I visited every payphone to give me the current pass code. (which ended up activating the hey_toots axon) and we went through 4 payphones before the first live call

Washington DC Axon Hunter Signal Corps

Melissa listed the DC team as "Washington DC Axon Signal Corps", although you can see from my sig we've been using "Washington DC Axon Hunter Signal Corps." The team includes:

Officers:
Commander AlienDial
Master Chief Chappy
Chief Petty Officer Cortana ("Tom Bridge" in the crew list)
Master Sergeant InCyr
Commander Mike_Was

Enlisted (future officers Smile ):
Dodgson
Kakashi
Kaziel
Kremparsky
Star Creator
TacticalChunder

New hunters are welcome, and if I've forgotten anyone, I apologize. PM me and I'll update this post!

With >30 axons per week to cover, the teamwork and individual sacrifices have been critical to our success. See the DC Reference Page for our unit history.

Well, I guess Memphis could be Team Memphis. Of course, the only thing I see about this is we only have ONE axon. Daboking and I are the only people in the area that go to the axon every week.

Teams are good for those people living in cities that have multiple axons, and many axon hunters.

I've told a lot of people about ILB, and many have seemed interested, but with only a single axon not everyone sees the point in getting involved.

It only takes 2 people to form a team, so I'm in for Team Memphis. Or maybe we should be called Team Elvis. Very Happy

The London Axonators

Hi, well I know there's only one Axon in London, and I know it hasn't gone hot, but with the amount of work that's gone into it I figure we're worth at least a mention...right? Embarassed
So here, as far as I can remember, are the names (in no particular order) of all the people who've tried to enhottenate in London:

First, the unforumites:
Flidget Jerome
Fi
danhon
Adrian
richchestmat
lank, the boy wonder
Rogue Element
bcriswell
cubicgarden
melarocco
Diandra
kiddae
and, of course, myself.

And now those who aren't on the forums (I think):
Miles
Richard
Rowan
Jamie
Sarah
Chris

If I've missed anyone, or if anyone is in both lists, please PM me and I'll edit the post. As for what we call ourselves, well I don't think we really have a name, but I've taken to calling us the London Axonators, so unless anyone has major objections to that name (religious or otherwise), I propose that as our group name.

- Malrog hopes we're allowed a group.

London Axonators it is! For sheer effort if nothing else!!! (Besides, after so much work the fault is no longer yours.) - AD

Well, since I'm pretty much the only one who's been hitting Downtown Dallas every week (especially Union Station), I'm gonna appoint myself Team Gilada.

Anyone wanna join up, let me know.

Not that I live there, but I think 'Team Crumpet' would be good.

Gentlemen, I give you..... The Greater Pittburgh Area Axon Authority (GPAA or GPA3)! We have:

The direction sensible Deltina Wildfre, who has so many maps that no one can get lost!
The lightning fast thunderclap8, who can pick up the phone with his lightning fast reflexes that he garnered from playing HALO too much!
And the extremely patient lovethenhate, who waited at a broken phone for 30 minutes for 2 phone calls that he couldn't answer because the phone was broken!

And together, we roam Pittsburgh suspiciously, putting evil non-beekeeper phone answerers in their place, answering all axons wherever they may ring!

We even have a team logo (done by Thunderclap). Just because we're that bored.

So, yeah, that's us! For truth, justice, and the call of the axon.

And here in Albuquerque, we have the Phantom Beekeepers
Members:
Ens. Dragonrider
(and a few people who either don't have transport or work during axon hunting time, and don't post here, or even answer their e-mail)

You see, they're Phantom Beekeepers, because no one really knows if they exist. Razz

TEAM TEMPE: The Myriad Wise Men

CORE TEAM
G3K (myself)
Pegasus Team (Bob)
Brian (lives on our floor, isn't registered on the forums)

SPECIAL FORCES
Nobuyuki (assisted 9/28)
G. Brian (tentative for 10/12, unregistered)
Annette (tentative for 10/12, unregistered)

Core team has gotten the vast majority of the axons, although Nobuyuki helped out immensely on recipe2. The "AZ Killer Bees", including nobodyman, haven't posted on the Arizona thread lately so I don't think I'm invading their territory by posting our group, haha. We'll take new members if you promise to actually show up (or even better, get those damn AZ Mills axons on Tuesday.)

Actually, per Melissa, we're the "Goddess Squad." All two of us. I was too busy being dumbfounded to come up with a clever idea, but I must admit I do find the appellation flattering, even though she probably only picked it because of Kali's name.

And again, anyone in the area is welcome and encouraged to join us. One day, there may even be food. Okay, actually there's always food when Kali and I get together.

I'm up for joining Team America. Where do I sign? Razz
