I saw this post yesterday and felt the same way that most of you do.
It was late and I didn't feel that I could put my frustration into the proper
words. No, I didn't think that I was letting him of the hook for I was sure
that more than a few eloquent keepers would bee along shortly.

I personally have been here since late July/early August and have always
been looking for ways to contribute. What I am able to do is small but I
am happy that at times it seems helpful.

When the axons hit week 3 I realized something and posted it here:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6154

You don't see me jumping up and down screaming "I told you so" like I
imagine this guy will if his [SPEC] is accurate. But since mine seems to be
it allows me to contribute in another way. See the names next to 10/5 axons here:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6196&start=1
That's 11 possibly 12 axons in just one day.

When help has been needed and I cannot supply it, I have tried to recruit
others: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6444
Although I wouldn't know if it was people from outside ILB, people inside
who read it, a combination of both, or just coincidence, we did manage to
get roughly twice as many axons that week.

In the meantime, I debate things and try to keep people up on things that
that we still need to do:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6643&start=0

Now believe me, I don't think that I am doing anything more important
than most and I definateley appreciate the "wiki" and "blackforge" pages.
vpisteve kicks ass. As does the bruce.

The point I am leading up to is simple:

Incitatus, although you seem to have placed yourself in the center
of ILB at Bungie.net (the whole one thread of it), your speculation is but
a small drop compared to the sea of effort that is related to UnForums ILB
and your attitude belittles all of those who are responsible for the work that
you yourself link to.

In short, stop shouting for attention, contribute in some way, and earn a
place here instead of demanding one.

Dude, you say 9/24, thats just wonderful, but look at the date stamp on the theory I posted, clearly states 9/12, so you were only late by close to two weeks....

try again there sport.

[edit/rant] You know what I'm not done yet, for some reason your constant trying to present your self as the be-all-end-all authority has really rubbed me the wrong way, and others saying their piece isn't enough for me. I have to say mine.
If you compare my join date to the date on the post, you'll see that I made that theory the same day I joined which, if you'll stay with me here was all of 3 days after I was introduced to ILB and started listening to storyline and wandering along the site. At that point I'd never even seen the wiki.

Did I request that from this point on my word be law to all other members of this site? heck no, after that little stint I've given theories that were later proven incorrect. Fact being, I still consider myself a noob after a month being active on this site. So I suggest you learn a small lession in humbility. [/rant]

I don't want you to leave this site forever or stop posting your ideas, no one here is saying that, we're just asking you to recognize your own mortality, and not just assume that your word is gospel.

I think, perhaps, we should give this thread a rest.

Inciting...

I read the post and initially felt the same way you did, Alex. I thought: Who is this ignorant, arrogant putz? Most of his [SPEC] is trout and the rest is just plain wrong! (Melissa can't be compassionate? Tell that to Dragonrider!) Hmmph, anyone who actually has to claim they're a "leading theorist" obviously isn't. So get off your high horse, boychik, or you run the risk of having any worthwhile [SPEC] you produce ignored because of your personality.

And then I looked at his name. So, dear Alex with the wonderful Robert Jordan quote, relax and let it go. He accomplished what he wanted with you: he incited you. You plan on being a psych major – you're going to meet a lot more people like him, both among the individuals you study, and – unfortunately – among your fellow students.

If he says something worth commenting on, comment. Otherwise ignore him until he grows up.

You do contribute a lot. Not all of us can be thebruce or vpisteve, but that doesn't mean that your efforts are worth less.

Again, relax. People here aren't morons or sheep. He'll have to earn a place, or he won't get one. Simple as that. (BTW, are you really an angry Buddhist?

Actually, "Incitatus" probably refers to a consul in Imperial Rome who just happened to be a horse...

From the root word, Incite, to incite, to inflame, etc....

wow that note on being a psyche major was like 3 or 4 threads ago... I'm a little suprised you kept that logged away Phaedra... Creepy, yet cool.

As far as my angry post I apologize to Incantatious (is that how you spell it?) I just got a little off my rocker, and my temper got the best of me, as it tends to.

I'm not sure if the apology will reach him though... If I were him I'd have stopped watching/commenting on this thread a long time ago, which looking back seems to be the case...

Logging bits of odd information is one of the things I do. Smile

That, and the ability to say "hello" and "thank you" in 27 different languages have gotten me through more sticky situations than I can count.
