"ipsum nomen res ipsa" = "the name itself is the thing itself"
I.N.R.I- like on Jesus' cross.
hmm...don't know what it means though.

CTFM I think the whole thing is from the NeverEnding Story (pays to have kids sometimes:)
FYI his name is Bastian (as in Sebastian)

Bastian to himself as he's reading the storybook: is it really me?
Atreyu: maybe he doesn't know what He has to do!

Not that it makes a diff. at all, but this is dialogue between Atreyu and the child Empress in regards to Bastian (A mortal child who must rename her to save their world). He is reading a story book when he realizes the story is referring to him.
And the new name that Bastian gives her is MOON CHILD.

Unless of course MOON CHILD (The New Name given to the Empress) has something to do with the above quote.

Does the tetradrachm have much significance if ctw? Or is that picture the only time it's come up? Pardon my ignorance...

coin quote from journal, april 24th:
"Today I sat in the doorway of a boarded up building with my hat at my feet. When I put it out, I dropped a few coins in -- two pennies and some foreign coin that's been in the bottom of my pocket forever. "
possible reference to tetradrachm?

More on INRI "ipsum nomen res ipsa" is often abbreviated as I.N.R.I. or INRI.
I found 2 curious links refering to the Freemasons' usage of INRI:
http://users.rcn.com/occult/occulus/i.html says:
"Freemasonry supplies two more variations: Igne Nitrum Roris Invenitur and the Hebrew Iammim Nour Rouah Iabescheh ("Water, Fire, Wind, Arid"). If Fire is the Will, then when we say "Nature is renewed by Fire," we mean that the Will alone has control over the universe."
http://bluepyramid.tripod.com/index/id14.html says:
"INRI had been used as an alchemical allegory by Freemasons for years by the GD's time - it was interpreted variously as Igne Natura Renovatur Integra ('by fire is all nature renewed intact'), Igne Nitrum Roris Invenitur ('the nitre of dew is found by fire'), and probably a few other ones."
It doesn't lead me anywhere, but I did find the link to Freemasonry interesting given we started out with a Masonic distress call...
